Is Dave Wirth in trouble at CovCath?
Your so wrong about the Walter thing it isn't even funny, but I know there is no arguing with you so I won't waste any more breath. BTW- I doubt you find a much better O-Line in N Ky, much less the state, than Tyler Conrad as evidenced by the fact that multiple kids at that position have gone on to play at the next level during his time at Cov Cath. That, and the fact that Cov Cath represents one of the best academic institutions in the state probably had something to do with sending his son to Cov Cath vs Cooper, Conner or wherever else.

It seems to me that you only got half the info but won't let that stop you from running your mouth. More misinformation. Erpenbeck was suspended for this game for more than insubordination- but by all means, please give us your great insight. Wirth is going nowhere and all the self entitled bitchers and moaners who like to live in their glory days and vicariously thru their kids will cool their jets in the weeks to come. Wirth is a terrific coach and teacher of young men. The program has increased in value- more kids than ever are coming out to play and this Senior class of football players is the largest it has been in years. Yes, improvements and adjustments need to be made- yes the coaches are upset and embarrassed about the last two weeks. Beechwood has a very good team. A ton of what happened yesterday was mental and the coaches have to get that fixed. I am positive that it will. This is essentially the same group of kids and coaches who overcame a ton of adversity last year when numerous Seniors went down to lead them to a very good year.

Covington Catholic 21 Highlands 20 (OT) (Frosh)
Relax- you'll live longer. Its Frosh ball and could have gone either way. Just as easy to say if a Cov Cath WR hadn't twitched when another was in motion then the game might have ended with no dramatic OT.

It was Pajama Day at Cov Cath yesterday for the students.

Ok- then they should have blown the play dead instead of letting it play through if that was the case. Anyway- great great game to watch.

Covington Catholic Football vs. Covington Catholic Basketball
Football players who aren't playing another sport have what probably amounts to 5 total weeks of the year off from speed training, lifting conditioning and actual practice- and that's including the three week dead period. So yes, they put the same amount of time in. Slow news day on BGP I guess.

NKY Middle School Football
Isn't the bigger question- why is the Ludlow staff playing a kid who is clearly very ill despite being up 34-6? If he doesn't play no one has to worry about vomit. Sheese.

Covington Catholic 21 Highlands 20 (OT) (Frosh)
Wouldn't have been a chip shot at all really. Ball was on @ the 15 Would have been a 32 harder from the left hash.

Covington Catholic 21 Highlands 20 (OT) (Frosh)
Great game by both teams. Cov Cath came down and scored on first possession. Mayer to Raisbeck cutting across the middle of the end zone. Highlands right came back and scored twice thereafter to make it 14-7 Highlands at the half. Cov Cath forces Highlands to punt on their first possession of the 2nd half, then drives down and scores on a DeFraites run off the edge from about 10 yards out to tie it up. In OT, on 4th and goal from about the 7, Mayer throws a nice out pattern to Beagle who looked like he was going to go down at @ the 3 but somehow fought his way over the goal line. On the ensuing Highlands drive, forced into a 4th goal of their own, the QB scrambles and finds his WR in the front corner to make it 20-21. Highlands lined up for a PAT but Cov Cath encroaches. Highlands decides to line up from 1-1/2 yards out and power it in. DeFraites screams in from the edge to take the RB down. Lots of ebbs and flows from both sides. Cov Cath actually should have won it with about a minute to go when Mayer caught Paul Thelen streaking down the sideline- but the refs called a penalty (two men in motion maybe?). Cov Cath now 4-1 with the only loss thus far to SK on a wild 6-0 game. Good luck to both teams going forward. Futures look bright.

Is NKY Football Better 1A-6A?
The question is, is N Ky (ie: teams from Boone, Kenton and Campbell Co) the strongest region "top to bottom" in the state. So I say again, look at all the state Champs and Runners up historically and show me another region that has had such consistent representation "top to bottom". Yes, I realize we don't have a 3A team (now anyway). This is not a question of W Ky being stronger in this class, Louisville in this one or Eastern in another. This is top to bottom.

Is NKY Football Better 1A-6A?
Seems easy enough to determine. Just add up the # of State Champ or Runner ups we have up in N Ky from each class. My gut says we are.

Then your guess is 1000% wrong. If anything, it's much tougher for the athletes to participate in the work study program because of their demands after school. Thus, most of the kids seeing the financial benefits of the program are non athletes. it's not a "scholarship". It's financial aid given thru a work study program

Correct- the capital campaign is for a great many things- classroom expansion, tennis courts, multi purpose sports field house and yes, stadium, lights and turf. This grant from the NFL for the turf will take care of most of the expense being as they already have a sub grade. How much of that needs to be torn up and re done I have no idea. Some exciting things happening right now- got to keep the momentum. But the turf can and will happen first before stadium and lights.

Simon Kenton/Ryle predictions
I think you made my point ..."if not for Ryles defense". Again- I don't think Ryle will win- they may lose by two to three TD's when it's all said and done. But the fact is (as sad as it is to say) this is the best defense that SK have played to date. That may keep it closer than some in the SK camp want to think. I've got no dog in the fight- just going off of scores and stats.

When will St. Henry name its new coach????
...they aren't being TOO quiet about it. Apparently they talk to a couple posters on here who have been forwarding everything they know.

Simon Kenton/Ryle predictions
SK wins but I don't think it will be a run away game at all. SK has beaten a bunch of winless teams and one team decimated by injury who hadn't beat a lot of quality opponents themselves. Ryle won't be in awe of SK's size or speed as it's much closer to the opponents they have played than the opponents SK have played. Yes their O will probably struggle, but defensively I don't think SK will have it easy. I'm saying its a one score game at half- opening up to a two to three score game by the end.
