In a nut shell, the Dixie Cov Cath. game was Dixie's first game, a lot of two way players for Dixie 10 A.M start 95 degrees at Halftime, 2 retuned punts early, enough said. the Beechwood Dixie game complete man handling of the Tigers by Dixie, way to physical for Beechwood up front, don't think BW would ever beat Dixie if they played 10 more times, complete miss match on the line of scrimmage. Beechwood Cov Cath. Beechwood got out early, and when Wagner went down, it was all down hill for Cov. Cath. I think if Dixie played Cov Cath right now, they's beat them by a bunch. JMO. from watching all 3 games in person.

I pretty much agree with this. The interesting thing about the games between these teams is I believe the yardage totals in each of the games is pretty even, except perhaps Dixie over Beechwood. The scores are all a bit more one sided than the games actually were. That is why you have to be careful just going by game scores when trying to compare teams. Sometimes the score only tells half the true picture.

Take the scores between common opponents and burn them. Its all about matchups. Dixie is a bad matchup for Beechwood. Everyone would agree. However, that doesn't mean that Dixie automatically beats everyone that Beechwood plays. Conversely, CovCath isn't playing well right now, but that doesnt' mean they can't still beat Dixie. Afterall, it was a beatdown when they played.

Football 101 for you. Generally speaking MOST of your best football players aren't on your special teams, especially when you are already playing so many guys both ways, so yes there is a difference between a 95 yard drive, vs. the other teams best players, vs. a punt return, against back ups. CCH won win in a do or die game. CCH played in that same heat that Dixie did. Dixie should focus on just moving forward. I thought they would be a lot better this year but are not. Maybe they beat the Blue Colonels next year.

Wagner going out vs BW in 1st series didn't help. They didn't have a Plan B. BW definitely earned it and are better than CCH this year though.

I actually say CCH. If you put all three teams in the largest division of Dixie, I say CCH does the best and advances the farthest in playoffs. So give the edge to CCH. But head to head, yeah who knows. So much on the line in these neighborhood rivalries that any team at any time can win.

Dixie -vs- Beachwood - Dixie.

 

Beachwood -vs- CovCath - Beechwood

 

CovCath -vs- Dixie - CovCath.

 

Beechwood earned the win Saturday. They deserved the win and CovCath deserved the loss. However, CovCath will rebound and we will see again this season, the true version of the Colonels. Based on what I saw when I watched two of the three games, CovCath is the better team of the three. Sometimes it is just not your day. Saturday was not CovCath's day.

Seeing all three teams....based on the simple eye test, I would go with Dixie. Beechwood is playing the best right now of the three right now, though. And, I saw CovCath when they got hammered by Highlands.

 

All three are quality teams who had bad nights against one of their rivals. All will factor in their respective playoffs. Beechwood obviously has the best chance of the three to win state, but Dixie and CovCath will give their district favorites fits when (if) they play them in the third round of the playoffs.
