Is NKY Football Better 1A-6A?

Featured Replies

Call me crazy, but overall, from 1A-6A, it is better football up here.

Is KOC correct, or is he overstating the quality of the entire region?

Better is so subjective. What measurement are we using? How many people, if any , on here are qualified to make such a judgement?

I didn't know you were such a dancer. You danced all around the question.

I think it is understood that he is saying NKY football is better then any other region in Class 1A, Class 2A, Class 3A, Class 4A, Class 5A and Class 6A then any other region in the state.

Are we qualified to make that determination? We claim to make determinations on every other subject, why not this one? Come on man.

I don't follow the various classes around the state to be able to answer the question. My gut reaction is that no region is better top to bottom.

I think generally they are correct except for an isolated individual team in the lower classes. They are not correct on 6A as Lousiville clearly dominates that class and it looks like Lexington area may be outclassing NKY 6A this year as well although I'd say NKY 6A is usually better than Lexington top to bottom.

Seems easy enough to determine.

Just add up the # of State Champ or Runner ups we have up in N Ky from each class.

My gut says we are.

Exactly. Class 6A belongs to Louisville, and I would love to hear an argument why that is not correct. With the opening of McCracken County it could even be argued that WKY is stronger in Class 6A then NKY.

Class 1A, has a solid argument against NKY. Mayfield in WKY has dominated NKY. NKY has one strong Class 1A team, not an entire region. EKY could even be argued to be stronger then NKY in Class 1A with Raceland, Pikeville, and Fairivew. Three teams to NKY's one strong team.

Class 2A in NKY has NCC, one team. Does any region have more then one strong Class 2A team?

Class 3A belongs to Belfry and Central. Who does NKY have that is that strong in Class 3A?

Class 4A, NKY has Highlands and Covington Catholic and a strong argument could be made for NKY in Class 4A.

Class 5A, who does NKY have that completes with Bowling Green?

Dominating one or two classes does not make the region better 1A-6A.

I'll take NKY over WKY 6A top to bottom anyday.

NKY 2A is an awfully good class with two other teams having state titles, one as recently as 11' or 12'.

I don't think NKY has any 3A schools at all.

NKY 5A had a runner up 2 years ago. Who in 5A is consistently dominate or could consistently beat Cooper, Conner and Scott besides Bowling Green?

Here is my thought, can't believe I got my own thread lol.

Every year, even thought it is usually the same certain teams, there are at least 2 if not 3 or 4 teams in the state finals. I think certain classes are up for debate like 6A obviously belongs to Louisville and 5A to Bowling Green. But outside of Bowling Green in 5A there isn't a ton of great football in that area. From top to bottom, class to class, I think NKY football is best or darn close to it.

It goes deeper than 1 or 2 teams in my opinion. It is a goofy argument because people in WKY say they are the best, NKY are the best and so on. But I was just stating my opinion that from top to bottom, NKY football is better overall and has a better showing in every class (minus 3A) than any other region of the state.

No, that says nothing, when 99% of them have come from one or 2 teams.. The question isn't is Highlands better, the question is is NKy in general better, which includes all teams.

Also, are we talking right now or historically too?

I think the previous 14 posts validate my "how do you measure " and "no one is really qualified."
