Two talented yet still unknown teams met Tuesday at North Hardin. Doss fell to the home Trojans by 8, but according to Coach K.C. Goodin they fought and played really hard. He also noted how tough a place to play it was, and said his younger players got valuable experience. The Trojans got to finally see all of their new pieces together. Khalil Rasheed had 12 points and 6 rebounds, Ruben Gosa added 20 points while Tyler Landry snagged 17 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Tyronn King played solid as well. Both these teams will only get better as the year goes on and they get more experience playing with each other.

Butler cruised in an easy victory over the Moore Mustangs. Demetrius McReynolds led his team with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomores Will Johnson and Jeremiah Bell also played well, chipping in 18 and 14 respectively. The Bears led by 13 at half and the lead continued to grow. Moore struggled on offense all night, committing way to many turnovers to ever challenge the Bears. Jaelin Sanford has 12 points, Justin Richardson added 10 points and 7 rebounds and Izajah Armstrong had 9 points. Jamon Sanford had an off night and was quiet offensively. Moore will have to become more efficient offensively to be a factor in the 6th Region this year.

Aaron Crosby at Seton Hall needs to be discussed

Surprising, wasn't there but Fairdale must have played well and J-Town must have played poorly.

This! Rusty did everything last night but sell popcorn. He got assists, steals, blocks, rebounds, took charges, etc. He's their most dangerous player until Willis learns to be more assertive.

The Mustangs may be the biggest sleeper in the 6th Region. However, they're running into a quite a challenge facing off against Butler's Demetrius McReynolds in their first game. Expect Jaelin Sanford to try and lock down the talented senior, while brother Jamon Sanford will likely draw the Bears other talented senior guard Rashawn Farrell. If the Sanford brothers can lock down these two, Moore forwards James Yates, Justin Richardson and Damon Robinson would give the Mustangs the advantage. I'll take the Bears in this early season match-up, Demetrius McReynolds proves to be too much for a Mustang team that will only get more dangerous as the year goes on.

This early season match-up will feature two very talented teams with something to improve. North Hardin will likely feature three players who'll be playing their first games as Trojans tomorrow, in Khalil Rasheed, Ruben Gosa and Tyronn King. While Doss has a bevy of talented underclassmen looking to make a name for themselves, including junior forward Montrell Little. If North Hardin can gel and start the season stong they'll be a threat to knock off John Hardin atop the 5th Region. I'll take North Hardin in this one, Doss is still young and may have trouble with the early away game. Rasheed will be hard to stop for the young Dragons back court and will lead his team to a closely contested 5 point win.

Kelan Martin is their X-factor, they will always have good guard play. But if he plays consistent at the Forward spot he takes them to a whole new level.

The Chargers and Generals were evenly matched up until the closing moments of the second quarter. Then Rusty Troutman went off, he blocked a Lafayette shot then hit a three. He followed that up with a steal and pass to Derek Willis for a vicious dunk. The second half saw Troutman hit three after three as Bullitt East built a twenty point lead. Then came the Derek Willis ejection, this led to a mine Lafayette run. However, Rusty Troutman kept hitting threes and Trey Rakes scored 9 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to close out an easy victory for the Chargers. Willis will serve a two game suspension, this puts a damper on top 10 match-ups between Henry Clay and Hopkinsville. Jackson Davis finished with 19 points scoring evenly through each quarter. Nick Trisko was stifled by the Bullitt East defense and was a non-factor all night.

Willis made a first comment that got him a T and a secondary one that got him the second one. He'll miss the Henry Clay game at Tates Creek and the Hopkinsville game at Marshall County.

In one of the premier opening day match-ups the 6th Region top dog Bullitt East Chargers face the 11th Region Lafayette Generals. The match-up will likely center around Derek Willis vs Jackson Davis, two of the top forwards in the state. However, how Lafayette matches up against fellow seniors Trey Rakes and Rusty Troutman will be more important. I'll stick with the 6th Region though and take Bullitt East to win by 8, with Rusty Troutman leading the way for the Chargers.
