H Factor

Start time was bumped up to 10am vs St Henry.

Brad Green with 2 RBI triple and Ethan Doty with RBI single. Kyle Rust threw 2 runners out attempting to steal 2nd. Brad Green and Joe Steiden both with great catches in the outfield. Birds defense really playing well. Hunter Dreves with CG, 3-4 K's. I don't have much info on Hunter because I was stuck at work.

That's 2 great outings by Zach Hamberg. He's coming into his own.

The weather didn't help. It was cold, windy, and drizzling. Also the home plate ump was very inconsistent with the outside pitch with a right handed batter at the plate.

I believe Kavanaugh had 3 RBI's. The other 3 runs were Wild pitch and 2 BB's.

. I don't have any stats but Grady got the start and earned the win in a complete 5 inning game. Birds bats woke up and put up 10 runs in the 1st inning. Birds play Campbell County today at 5pm at HP.

I believe the total numbers were 7 BB's and 2-3 HBP's.

Hunter Dreves struggled with his command and timely hits. CovCath is discipline at the plate .

I heard Kyle Losey (junior) hit a double in bottom of 7th to win the game. Congrats Kyle!

Congrats to Evan Molitor(Lloyd) and Brandon Runion(Cooper) for being selected to the All State Sophomore team. They go to Asbury University for a showcase on June 21st. The 2 alternates are Sam Hennigan(Highlands) and Gunner Smith(NCC). The players are nominated by their own head coach and selected by the other head coaches in the 9th region. This is a big honor. Hopefully my information is correct.

Anybody have information on 9th region all sophomore team? Like a roster?

Where is 33rd district tournament being played and what time?

I don't know what he's hitting but he's a terror on the base path!

Armstrong started the game and relieved by lefty Ryan Epperly(sp) and Sean Michaels.

Ethan Doty pitched complete game with 12 K's, 1 BB's, 1HBP, 5 hits and 2 runs. E grooving at the right time.

Great game by the Birds. Sam Hennigan got it started in top of 1st by scoring on a wild pitch/passed ball. CovCath answer with plating 1 in bottom of the 1st. Then both pitchers, Drew Rom and Cam Pitzer, went on cruise control. CovCath strand 2 runners in bottom of the 5th. Top of 6th Birds score 2 on RBI double by Frosh Bryce Ziegler and RBI single by Austin Mayhew making it 3-1. Birds play add on with RBI single by Mark Walkenhorst. Both Drew and Cam pitched complete games. S/O to the Birds defense. Only 1 error/bad hop but made plays when they were needed. This is 2 hard fought victories in back to back days. Hopefully this is a confidence booster.

Ethan Doty with another quality start. E getting hot at the right time. 16 K's and gets a no decision. Raiser earns the win. Bellevue's defense kept them in the game. Left fielder made incredible catch with 2 outs n bases loaded. Birds had opportunities but just couldn't get the timely hit.

Does anybody know who pitched for Ryle?

Grady Cramer frosh got his first varsity start for the Birds and lasted a full six innings. I don't have any stats but it sounds like he pitched a pretty good game with very little help from defense and offense. Birds have struggled all year with errors and lack of timely hitting. If they want to be competitive in the 9th region, they need to figure it out!

This kid definitely deserves to be mentioned. He's a big strong kid who hits the ball hard n has a live arm. We played against him last summer and he hit one so hard back to the pitcher that it rattled my knees! I also saw him play a pretty good shortstop. Kid has a lot of talent.

Fort Thomas Matters Sports: Highlands run-rules streak to six straight vs. rival NCC

Mason is a damn good baseball player who is fun to watch. I've seen him play a few times and he is a very good shortstop. He seems to be a nice kid. It blows my mind that he doesn't play high school baseball. I heard he lives in the Cooper school district.

Q, Clyde is right. Grady Cramer is the frosh who pitches JV. He probably is 6' 2" tall and having an outstanding year. Tanner who is a frosh and gifted kid has only pitched one or two games for the JV Birds. Kid has a bright future. Cooper Schwalbach is another frosh who plays JV and is having an outstanding year. Kid doesn't have a gun, he's got a cannon for a right arm! You need to check your spellcheck because Cooper hasn't played SS, He plays CF.

2 sophomores who are not playing varsity but are very talented are AJ Mayer (CovCath) and Justin Schlarman (Cooper).

Drew Rom a southpaw pitcher for Highland Bluebirds. Playing for the Flames this summer. He's a very good hitter too.
