A classic pitchers battle between Brossart lefty Junior Zach Hamberg who went all eight innings, giving up six singles and striking out seven, and Caldwell County's Sophomore lefty Gabe East, who gave up three singles and struck out ten.

The Mustangs failed on a safety squeeze in the bottom of the sixth inning, and then had the lead-off hitter who had reached second base with no one out picked off (for lack of a better description) eradicating a Brossart threat in the bottom of the seventh.

After dodging the Mustang bullets the Tigers took the lead in the top of the eighth when Gabe East the pitcher got his third single of the game, advancing to second on a wild pitch/passed ball and knocked home by Jase Ryan Felker proving enough offense to win the game. East gave way to Bryce Thomas who closed out the game, sitting down the Mustangs in order in the bottom of the eighth.

The Mustangs resume play on Tuesday vs Covington Catholic in Alexandria, and will play Campbell County in Claryville on Wednesday.

That's 2 great outings by Zach Hamberg. He's coming into his own.

Zach was on his game. He kept the Tigers off balance setting them up with his fastball and breaking pitch.
