Ethan Kavanaugh (Freshman) had 2 RBI's for the Birds.

Birds hitting their stride? After some ups and downs, sounds like they are starting to look like the team we were expecting. 6-0 win over Beechwood is a pretty good win and 14 strikeouts for Doty, wow.

Great outing by Doty. Birds are hitting stride as they do every year about this time. Beechwood may have walked 12-13. Hard to win with that many freebies.

I understand the Birds had a bunch of LOB's as well so it couldve been much worse.

Yes. In fact they had 8-9 LOB in the first 5 innings and didn't plate a run. Also, in that time frame they had maybe 1 or 2 hits. So, it's hard to say Beechwood beat Beechwood when Doty pitches a 1 hitter. Won't know until the box score comes out but I think HHS only had maybe 3 hits.... and of the 6 runs, maybe 1 earned.

This is a good omen for BW though. Last year we run ruled Doty a few weeks before the region and he shut us out in the region. Hopefully the opposite this year. lol.

The left hander that started for Beechwood (sorry, don't know his name) did a great job of keeping HHS hitters off balance. He had a few Ks as well and only a couple of hitters squared up on him. The Birds didn't add on until the relief guys came in. Beechwood is a team to watch. Note: Beautiful new field.

That is Jairus Wilder, a junior. He is having a great season. Had a little trouble finding his spots yesterday, but still we got 120 out of him (pitch limit). Gutsy kid.

I believe Kavanaugh had 3 RBI's. The other 3 runs were Wild pitch and 2 BB's.

The weather didn't help. It was cold, windy, and drizzling. Also the home plate ump was very inconsistent with the outside pitch with a right handed batter at the plate.
