  1. Brady should have been at the 1 all year. Not strong with the ball? I don't agree with this at all. He was the best point guard on the team. He has tremendous leadership, a knack for getting to the rim, keeping his teammates involved and ran the team extremely well from the point. I thought the two biggest plays of the game were.... one was mentioned earlier in this thread, when NCC had a chance for a break away layup and Ryan collided Hightchew which knocked the ball lose when they were the only two players on that half of the court for the steal and layup. The other big play, which I am surprised hasn't been brought up as of yet was the defense that Miller played on McQuery. Miller held him to 5 points in the first half and then in the 4th quarter, NCC took Miller out and McQuery scored 7 straight points for Rebels on threee consecutive trips down the court before NCC put Miller back in to play defense against him. I don't know why Brannen feels he has to take Miller out at the same points of the game each game, however, I really thought it cost the Breds not having Miller blanket McQuery the entire game. While Miller was out, McQuery scored on a put back, a three and hit two free throws that put the Rebels up for good during the 4th quarter. As for McDonald, the young man played like he did the first 3 weeks of the season yesterday. It seems as though NCC forgot about him during the middle part of the season (outside of the injury). Again, it seemed as though we had to wait until 3:30 left in the quarter before he came in. I struggle with the substitution pattern with NCC. I wouldn't have taken McDonald out yesterday at all unless he raised his hand stating he was tired.
  2. I agree 100% with regards to Jordan!!! Definitely the offensive star of the game. For defense, what about Elle Ogle. She shut down Crittenden until late in the 4th quarter (garbage time). Where ever Jenna went, Elle was right there with her. I think I even saw Elle follow her to the water cooler when she was out and got a drink. I also think Ms. Ogle played a wonderful offensive game as well. We left with about 2 minutes left in the game so I don't know how they finished up, however, I thought Ogle out scored her as well. I was just really impressed with how she did against Crittenden. Congrats NDA and good luck agains the Rebels!!!
  3. I think Miller holds McQuery in check which caused Boone to struggle to score enough points. NCC - 50 BCHS - 39
  4. I agree, plus I believe it helps the winner get ready for Rupp, shooting in a bigger arena, etc..
  5. I like Highlands big in this game. Big stage, big court, big players..... Towles will dominate inside for the Birds. HHS - 58 Lloyd - 42 I just don't think you can count on hitting three's consistently when you are playing in a big arena.
  6. Yes, that was really sweet, I forgot that one. It seems that play works twice a game for the Breds. I can never tell when it is coming and I look for it each game. It's very well disguised. I agree he is underrated and is one of the more athletic kids on the team. He has been a major contributor this year and I think he will have a big game Saturday against Cooper. With him, McDonald and Schulte next year, it will be hard to find a bigger front line in the 9th region, if not in the state. With Pangallo running the point, things will be bright again for the Breds. However, I have a feeling that this year is far from being over for NCC.
  7. I 100% agree with all of this. Shulte is a very athletic kid that can play above the rim. He has gotten better and better as the year has gone on and has played extremely aggressive the last few games. It was nice to see McDonald and Schulte on the floor at the same time last night. McDonald had a big night and came up with some big rebounds. Good things happen when you get the ball inside and don't rely on the 3 so much. Miller, again, played a great game. I believe he had 9 points, 11+ rebounds, 3+ assists (nice high low passes to Schulte) and came up with numerous lose balls. He just seems to always be in the right position all the time. It was good to see Hightchew come up big in the second half after battling through foul trouble in the first. I think the bigger college court really helps him as the point guard attacking the basket. With him at the 1 and spreading the court it allows him to get to the rim a bit easier for dishes and layups. His aggressive takes and physical play has really rubbed off it seems on his teammates. I believe he is now 7 points away from the exclusive 1,000 point club. Not that he would ever put individual accomplishments ahead of the team; however, it's got to be exciting for the young man to be that close to a big accomplishment. The ohhhh's and ahhhh's really came out when Seibert blocked the CCH shot in the first half on the low block. It had to be one of the better blocks of the year. All in all, it might have been the best game I've seen NCC play all year. They continue to be on a nice roll.
  8. Amen TAC!!! Exactly my point in the post prior to this. Seems they can dish it out, just can't take it. Again, bush league!
  9. I wasn't at the game last night, however, I agree with the many posters that state that they haven't liked UC since Tony Yates did this back in the 80's against UK. HHS - 81 Dayton - 27 and HHS - 98 Bellevue - 28 I wasn't at these two games either, however, does anyone have an issue with HHS running up the score on these two schools? I'm not a fan of this type of basketball either...... Bush League.
  10. I'm not addicted, I just can't stop reading and posting!!!!!
  11. Agreed!!! However, I'm sure it is for academic reasons only though ....... yeah right!
  12. 1,000% agree!!! I guarantee that is why they waited until halftime to make the announcement. Everyone has already paid, a Champion can be declared.... I hate going to the KBA for AAU ball!!! If you have the entry fee you are in, regardless of the ages, etc.. You have your younger brother’s birth certificate (or really anyones birth certificate), you are good to go...... welcome to the KBA! The KBA and AAU, in my opinion, are both jokes when it comes to AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
  13. Yes, McDonals did play good defense on Towles when he was guarding him. He did give up a couple baskets to him, however, Towles made hay and single handitly kept HHS in the game when McDonald was on the bench, in transition or when someone else was guarding him down low.
  14. By definition - Yes. A quick google search for a definition of a charge brought back this: Charging- an offensive foul which occurs when an offensive player runs into a defender who has established position. Established position - when a defensive player has both feet firmly planted on the floor before an offensive player's head and shoulder get past him; the offensive player who runs into such a defender is charging. However, I am not an official, even though I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once, I'm sure there are interpretations, hence, a judgement call. But to the letter of the law I would say that your feet need to be established in order to make it easier for the official to make a charging call. Just my thought.
  15. Agreed. However, with the bigger arena, nerves, etc., I'll go with the team that gets their inside game going in this match up. I think NCC has a bit more potential to establish an inside presence against CCH that is why I am giving them the edge. Now, whether or not they take advantage of this will be the question. If they get the ball inside first the outside shots will open up. In my opinion, the outside shooting will off set for both teams, or perhaps CCH gets a slight advantage. I think McDonald, Shulte, Miller will be to much for the Colonels to handle if they are utilized. NCC - 56 CCH - 50
  16. Not hurt, been back for a couple games now. Played well on defense against Towles, however, wasn't involved on the offensive end of the court. Took one shot the entire game.
  17. I can't believe there hasn't been a thread started yet about this game.... Predictions?
  18. Ok, so it sounds like it wasn't reviewed by you, correct? If it was rewinded 5 times, it doesn't seem as though it was 'clearly a charge'. Again, it was a judgement call. From where I was sitting, it didn't look like the HHS player had his feet set at all. With him still moving his feet it doesn't matter how hard he gets hit, it is still a block. Not only did he get drilled, he got called for the block. Can you say double whammy? I agree with Bengals33, we need to move on from ONE judgement call in the game. It didn't cost HHS the game. Towles was a one man wrecking crew for the Birds and really played tough and kept Highlands in the game.
  19. Dixie, Cov. Holy Cross, North College Hill, Roger Bacon, Bishop Brossart...... Some pretty stiff competition..... He needs to be involved inside if NCC wants to advance next week. NCC at least needs to ATTEMPT to get the ball inside. It's 3 pointer after 3 pointer with them. Like it was pointed out earlier. BoK is going to take some time getting used to shooting outside. Pound it inside..... that will help set up the outisde jumpers, just my opinion.....
  20. For HHS to be successful, Patrick needs to be the focus of their offense. He was big for Highlands tonight, single handitly kept Highlands in the game. Hard to get on the young man for missing a free throw towards the end. Without him, Highlands gets beat by 20+ tonight. BIG GAME for NCC's Andy Miller. 3 for 4 from beyond the arc and ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM!! Some very well deserved recognition for the young man. He really stepped up in the biggest game of the year so far for the Breds both on the offensive and defensive side of the court. Still hard to figure out how Drew McDonald goes from scoring 20+ points a the first 7 or 8 games in the season to taking one shot last night against the Birds. I know he was injured for a bit and teams make adjustments, but he's the Breds biggest inside offensive threat. I really think the Breds have to get him more involved in the offense as they head into the regional tournament.
  21. Good point paNDA!! With NCC and CCH both outside shooting teams, I think whichever team establishes an inside game may have the upper hand in this one. Hopefully, NCC at least attempts to get McDonald the ball on the inside. With Miller's strength, I would like to see the Breds either have him post up or have him take his defender off the dribble with drives to the hole. I really think these two will be the key to success for the Breds in this one. I agree, tough draw for the Breds, however, they are coming in on a roll.
  22. Agreed!! Looked like a blocked to me. The defender was not close to being set in my opinion. Just because it was a violent collision doesn't mean it was a player control foul. If you are going to try to take a charge, you need to be prepared to be hit. I thought it was a good aggressive drive up the sideline by Hightchew. It was 1 of 150 judgement calls made (or not made) by the officials.
