  1. Lexington Christian beat Pikeville by 17 (if that is what you meant) last week but how does one compare that to Dixie or Beechwood without head-to-head competition?
  2. Beechwood has not played Pikeville this year. Beechwood's closest winning margin was 20 points to Cov Cath.
  3. Agreed. I am a Dixie fan and I had to turn the sound off. Showing the scoreboard on camera once in awhile would have helped.
  4. That’s right. There was a game played, wasn’t there?
  5. Sure they do. Mayfield is Mayfield and often gets stronger as the season progresses. They have depth, always athletic and well coached. They also hold a place in certain team’s heads that is often worth a few points.
  6. The opponents have been top drawer programs in recent years that have either been state champions or close to it. Hardly a cupcake schedule when the schedule was formulated. The impressive part is the non-district schedule BW puts together annually. They have no control how it will shake out record wise of their opponents. The only thing that BW can control is taking care of business in the games they are involved in.
  7. I do not have a dog in the fight for this rivalry but the banter before and after the game has been quite entertaining. He said this. They did that. Asterisks. Holding. Coaches confronting each other. Why would anyone want to take this game off the regular season schedule?
  8. It's been a few years since I have to a game at Beechwood but I remember the burgers there being outstanding....and huge.
  9. Thanks. Forgot about that. Still, a scrimmage is not the same as regular season live action. However, judgement day is upon us Friday. It should be a great game.
  10. "looks better"? I am assuming you saw BW vs SK play. What game did you see Cov Cath play as the basis for your comparison?
  11. Back in Dearborn, MI our rival was referred to as the “cake eaters”. The perception was their neighborhood had more affluence with bigger homes and students who drove high end cars. Maybe the term here was meant to be “cake eater haters”?
  12. I stand corrected then. There were earlier posts on BGP that Hawkins would be unavailable for the Cooper game and was told that by a Youth Colonels coach. I had also thought that a game ejection resulted in the player sitting out the next game.
  13. If CCH can stop Kel Hawkins then I can see your prediction being fairly accurate. Cooper did not have to worry about Hawkins due to his suspension thus Dixie struggled on offense. Landers is a very solid QB and multi-dimensional but I believe Hawkins will be the key in winning the tough games in the next few weeks.
  14. In the not so distant past, the chatter on here was about 6A SK beating 2A (and 1A for many years) Beechwood. Now the debate is the score and how many points BW will put up and if they will pitch shutout #4. My, times have changed.
  15. I appreciate your allegiance to the Wood but you would have to hear what every BW person had to say to quantify whether it was made up or not. Like a previous poster, I feel that that the arrogance at this school is growing in momentum and not just in athletics.
  16. Congrats to the St. Henry girls for winning the All "A" championship yesterday. Job well done Cru.
  17. I do not see a let down after the Beechwood game. They came in and took care of business without having to go through an emotional win. They were in control from the opening kick-off.
  18. Point well taken. Ok, maybe some can call it a quasi-butt kicking. I will stick with a solid victory.
  19. Put it in perspective. A 1A school defeated a 5A school on the 5A school's home field. Some would call it a butt kicking but a solid victory is more apt.
  20. Disappointing last year, yes. Terrible....now that is a stretch. They were not terrible last week and even your predicted score against Georgia is not terrible.
  21. Great post. Should be a great game. That got me to thinking. If both Beechwood and Cov Cath retain their #1 rankings after their next games it will be #1 in 1A vs. #1 in 5 A the following week. It would be a stretch to find that scenario (#1s playing each other 2 weeks in a row) played out in the past.
