  1. I assume by Fiedler we are talking about Kyle Fieger? He was called Fiedler many times during the football season.
  2. Nobody has mentioned Chrissy Wilson who seems to be the lone holdover from last year's staff. Chrissy is orchestrating the girls camp which starts in a couple of weeks so she is still on board at BW. The BW high school principal has sent out an e-mail to a group of parents asking their thoughts on what they would like to see in a coach. One parent mentioned that he thought that having a teacher / coach would be ideal so that they are a presence at the school and promote the program on a daily basis. Interesting notion.
  3. I heard CC's Coach say that if it was still a 3-0 game he would have pitched to Combs to see how far he could it and that even when he misses it he still kills it. Combs is dialed in right now and has a ton of respect from opponents. His physical stature alone is impressive. Cannot wait to see what he does in the SEC the next 4 years.
  4. Looking further down the pipeline, I have heard that a girls club team was formed after the first of the year called the Bluegrass Belles and they play out of Griffin Elite. Supposedly, there are two teams made up of mostly BW girls in 1st grade and 5th grade. I hope BW forms a 2nd grade team for these girls next year so they can start building the pipeline earlier. From what I hear, the 5th grade team played in an AAU league with teams much older and bigger.
  5. Actually, the 8th grader played for the varsity last night at Cov Cath and finished as the Tiger's high scorer with 11 points.
  6. Great points, Voice. All one has to do is look at the middle school pipeline for the Tigers and be very encouraged for the near future. Mr. Jefferson has the opportunity to be part of something special sooner than later. Now, if we can only build a solid pipeline on the girls side.
  7. This was a dead heat in the first half. It's hard to sustain that for a whole game against a team that had a very deep bench with only 2 on your own. The Tigers had a starter hurt and did not dress. With no JV to pull from it becomes even tougher. Not an excuse, just fact. The Lady Tigers gave it their all. I was very impressed with the length of Ryle. They used that to their advantage. Nice squad. As far as no fan support whatsoever? Not true. Sparse, yes, but the student body was down Dixie Highway at the boys game against Cov Cath. I have been to many girls games at BW this year and there have been great crowds including the band. Cheerleaders were at Cov Cath last night as well. It's a small school folks, only so many fans to go around. So, for a huge 6A school like Ryle, where was the student body in the visitors section? Looked like mostly relatives and family friends there to support their team. 2-3 times the amount of players on Ryle's bench equals the same disparity in the crowd. To me, that was the noticeable difference.
  8. Wayne State produced NFL linebacker Paul Butcher. Paul played for the Lions, Rams, Raiders, and Seahawks. Made All Madden team early in career.
  9. I think the difference tonight was at the charity stripe. It allowed BW to pull away at the end and maintain the lead. Nice win after being down most of the game.
  10. Boone rained 3's at will in the first. Seemed like everything they threw up was all net. To me, that made the difference and allowed them to jump out to their huge lead. Nice effort by the Tigers fighting back. Ally Johnson of BW is fun to watch. Very polished and in control. She makes those around her, better.
  11. Logan Castleman, BW Soph. to be. Repeat post annually for next 2 years after.
  12. A true BGP literary masterpiece worthy of mention in the NY Times or at least the Community Recorder.
  13. Relax, Pikeville faithful. You took me all wrong. I checked out Pugh's recruiting buzz because I think he is one heck of a player. When his bio said he was 19 I starting thinking about BW's youngest player who is one year removed from the 8th grade and knowing that he never saw a specimen like #45 at that level. I thought it was an interesting comparison so please do not accuse me of throwing shade or trying to stir things up. We have enough of that up here in NKY. Pikeville has a fine program and great fans and has my respect. Leave it at that.
  14. Watusi, Daric shows up on many recruiting profiles, NCSA for one. His age is listed as 19.
  15. Daric Pugh is listed as being 19 years old. Just curious as to how close he is to being 20. I am thinking of a Logan Castleman, a 9th grader, who is maybe 15?, trying to tackle this guy who is a beast of a runner.
  16. I have a hard time ranking NCC ahead of BW since it was not many weeks ago that BW bet NCC. If this is based on the finals performance alone then maybe NCC showed better because of the score and defensive play. But, BW was ahead up until the end of the 3rd against Pikeville then imploded. Many angles to look at. Could Mayfield and NCC have stopped Pugh? NCC's defense played well against Mayfield but BW hung 31 on them 5 weeks ago. Did they improve that much? Possibly.
  17. I will respond to the notion of the QB panicking only because I overheard the same thing at the game Thursday night. I can see the perception of panic because of the timing of specific interceptions where the ball seemed forced and was ill advised. Last year's Mayfield game and the interception deep in Pikeville territory were very similar and all were drive killers and possible game changers. Because this QB is so very accurate and has thrown very few interceptions the picks in big games are magnified and come under more scrutiny. Give some credit to the Mayfield and Pikeville defenses though. What was available with other defenses was not available in these games. You cannot expect a teenager to make the same reads as a seasoned veteran that does this for a living.......and still makes misreads. Instead of labeling this young man as a "panic" QB why don't we marvel at what he has done for 3 plus years? Lest we not forget these are just kids that we are posting about.
  18. As a Beechwood fan I was sad to see them lose but happy that they got to the final and showed some fight when they were down early. Pikeville has a nice team and even nicer fans that are even happier and I tip my hat to you. As the curtain closes on another season I think the happiest person of all is Plantmanky knowing that Beechwood lost. Dude really seems to have an edge about the Tigers.
  19. According to an e-mail from Beechwood admin. there will be a link on the Beechwood website to watch the game "live". Don't forget, it's 8 PM Eastern.
  20. Bought a couple of club level seats for the 1A game Thursday. Rearranged my syllabus for Friday's class so I can stay the night in BG and relax coming back to the Fort Friday morning. Looking forward to the trip.
  21. Beechwood played at SK a couple of years ago and I sat on each side for a half. No issues either way....players, fans or coaches. Quit making excuses for bad behavior.
  22. I have seen every BW playoff game and I am not aware of anyone not playing at full strength. Bumps and bruises here and there but that is expected at this time of the year. Please define "full strength".
  23. Based on the behavior of Lafayette at SK, the question might be asked, "How many people want Male to score 70?"
  24. How does the absence of one starting RB equate to Beechwood being held together by duct tape?
  25. Even the couple of plays that were shown from this game on the news tonight showed punk moves from Lafayette players....in your face taunting and trash talking. I hope they get drilled in the final.
