As a spectator, I am astonished at how people (officials, opponents, etc) put up with CovCaths play. I saw flopping, pushing, shoving, what appeared to be a swing in the pile, getting physical after the ref blew the whistle. I guess they are dominant for a reason. Very physical. In my opinion, Newport did a pretty good job keeping it together, albeit not sure why Harding got the technical, but I assume something was said. Crazy he didn’t play the 4thQ! A senior, in a regional semi-final. What is this rule?? Do other schools have this rule? Why does Newport? Can’t believe this was some sort of life lesson or moral teaching. I think CovCath beats Beechwood in the championship in a nip tuck, back and forth battle.

Is the poll so close because people WANT Newport to win? Based on what you have seen, what makes people believe Newport can actually beat CovCath in this environment? This is what CovCath does. Experience.

Cooper plays such a slow & grinding style... I believe Beechwood scores in the 50-60 range... i believe the question will be... can Cooper muster up the offense to outscore Beechwood. I believe the answer is yes, albeit, I will not be one-bit shocked if Beechwood pulls this out. Scotty Draud is a man possessed.

The key word in the above post is efficiency. In these tournaments, I believe efficiency and defense win the day. Whoever can be that on Friday night will win this game.

I think the deciding factor will be Davis for SK. If he can hit the 3 and find openings to score, I’ll take SK. Niece is going to do what Niece does. But, he needs a wing man. Davis has to be the difference because of his ability to score. If he doesn’t, I’ll GC.

Scott County vs. Henry Clay in the final. Scott County exacts revenue on the district loss and wins the 11th Region.

Walton vs. Collins in the final. I’d be surprised if it was anything else. In the first round, I’ll take Collins, Gallatin, Walton, and South Oldham (in a close one).

Thought I saw in this thread that it is the 6th/7th region. So Louisville Officials.

You see, that’s the thing about this regional tournament. A lot of these teams have beaten atleast one or more of these 8 opponents. But, we also had some key missing factions in many of these games.... 1. Walters missed several games for Cooper. 2. Mayer missed most of the season for these opponents. 3. Harding was missing for Newport vs. St. Henry & McGuire vs. CovCath 4. Brannen was missing for Beechwood vs. Conner. 5. Highlands was without Vinson for Cooper. 6. Scott missed some time for Conner. 7. St. Henry was without Becker for Newport and a couple other games, I believe. I’m certain there are more intriguing DNPs I missed. Hopefully all these teams are at full strength at this time of year. Their are no significant injuries that I’m aware of. What a tournament this could be!

No. I think Campbell walks to the finals. GRC & Scott could be thrilling. I’ll say GRC vs. CC, final. CC wins.

A lot of opportunities for revenge here. Cooper beat Highlands, but at Cooper. Beechwood beat Dixie, at Dixie. Newport beat Conner, at Conner. And, CCH beat St. Henry, at St. Henry. All of these teams are better than they were at the time they played in the regular season. I believe Highlands and Conner have the best chance to have some “get back.”

Usually on the Saturday or Sunday after the districts, I believe. Don’t know times, or when the bracket will be released. Agree that this region is going to be insanely fun this year!

And, Newport as well, and St. Henry to a certain extend. not sure of the size of Highlands, but they were good also, and Lloyd had a decent season.

Is Ohmer healthy? I see he played. Is he good to go, or sticking it out for the team in his Senior season? I hope he's at full strength (as much as a player can be this late in the season).

I do kind of understand this. May be in poor judgement to bench that guy (Mr. Kentucky Basketball Candidate). Maybe let the non-starters play with that guy. That would be fun for them. Unless this kid volunteered to give up his spot.

Did Walton lose on Senior night because this kid started? Did the kid play a lot/contribute? Not uncommon at all to start a senior who doesnt play much, or at all on Senior Night, simply because the contributing/productive seniors will get the bulk of the playing time.

I have heard of many small schools keeping as many seniors as they can. Its not unheard of to have 7-9 or more seniors in a small school program. And, in a small school, the talent often comes in waves, so if WV is down next year, I'm not putting that solely on the coach and his staff.
