  1. I agree with those who say don't pay attention to "electability". At one time, Barak Obama didn't seem "electable" over Hillary Clinton. He was labeled as "no experience", and "no knowledge of foreign policy". He had rumors of not being born in the US. Not to mention he had the middle name Hussein, in the wake of 9/11. If anyone was "unelectable" in comparison to Hillary Clinton, it was him. He did not have the most positive image and he had no "brand", but he got elected. Electability is bologna.
  2. Sunday is a day of rest. It would be nice to give families a day where they don't have to run, rush and eat McDonalds.
  3. Jesus needs to go in, turn some tables over and crack his whip on these people. They may have laws, but they do not have the law of love, and that is the law above all laws. It is amazing how far a dead, man made, religion can be from the real thing and still try to play the part. You know, the wolf in sheep's clothing!
  4. Yep, think so. She was not much of a factor in this game though, as she spent most of the first half and some of the second on the bench with foul trouble. Most of her 14 points came in the sec half. Walton defended her very well.
  5. Among all the normal talk of Sydney Moss of her obvious athleticism and talent, I want to throw something else out there. I was very impressed with her sportsmanship. For real...a couple of times she offered to help a Walton girl up off the floor and once after an "aggressive" play and tangle up, she gave her opponent a friendly pat on the shoulder. All this on a night that seemed to me, where she was struggling, like shots not going in, and a couple of air balls. It was just cool to see a her not get angry, frustrated and lose her sportsmanship when she could have very easily. Don't know if that matters to anyone, but I just happened to take notice. As far as WV, I was impressed. Other than getting out rebounded down the stretch and in the final 2 minutes, thought they played well and looked very good against a quick and physical Boone County.
  6. Gray, from seeing their girls play AAU ball in the spring and summer, definitely has a strong team. I saw Woodland play once this year and, yes they are pretty good together and well coached. I, also have heard that Conner was still doing well, even though their were two girls that got moved up and are not playing with them. As far as Twenhofel's 8th grade girls team, they are not having much success. I am sure that the girls are playing hard, but they were left very very thin. With three girls that were starters in 7th grade deciding this year to play for Simon Kenton's freshmen team, this left only 6 girls at the original try out. The team was rounded off by adding some 7th graders, but they were still short 3 starters from the 2 previous years. That group is not near as dominant as they were in 6th and 7th grade. Another team that is doing well is Walton Verona. They are 13-1.
  7. This man is either the slickest, most deceiving, sex crazed ceo ever OR he is just simply very hated.
  8. Do you know the freshmen that played some in the scrimmage vs Highlands and which of these freshmen, in your opinion, may see varsity minutes when the games are for real?
  9. You are right. It was just the first thing that came to mind. There is always a smart-elic in every crowd.
  10. He plays on the 8th grade team because he is in 8th grade.
  11. I do understand your point. I really do. I was unaware of the graphic "bottom line" news rolled across the screen. I have to admit, I haven't watched espn much lately since the kids ball season has started. I can assure you though, if there was a thread started about it, I would have "over reacted" in the same way. In fact, I find myself "over reacting" often at some of the stuff that is on tv these days. No, I am not getting old, the line just keeps being moved.
  12. Doesn't someone have to draw a line somewhere, or do we all just let anything and everything go. As for me, I'll be "predictable" and over react. In other words, Ill draw a line. We can say, "oh no big deal" then we wonder why a kid uses the same word on facebook toward Highlands. (see football forum) To have a moral compass, character, respect and sense of what is appropriate is not old fashioned, it is the very thing that keeps society from imploding. Its called self governing. If we think that self governing is somehow over reacting or inappropriate, we as a nation, are in real trouble.
  13. Sounds as if your holding your own in the know it all category.
  14. Going back a few weeks, I would have never guessed Boone to be the last NKY 6A still standing. Great job and congratulations!
  15. If your oldest is going to start kindergarten, you have quite a while still. Stress is the last thing you need to do. You have plenty of time and as time goes by, it will become more clear. As you get to know people, build relationships and become a part of the community, you'll figure it out. Enjoy your children and the elementary years, they grow up fast. Just dont stress. Pick the elementary that seems best and give time to the future to figure itself out. As your children are growing, you will start to learn what they really like and passionate about. You will see their strengths and weakness and you will see their needs. Once you see this, then you might start to lean toward one school that is stronger in that area and has more to offer. Besides if you make a decision now based on today's information, all that could change in 8 years.
  16. Respectfully, but absolutely disagree. Mr Romney is not the best chance to unseat Obama. Romney would not rally and motivate the same voters that turned up for the last election and caused many to lose their seats. The same "tea party" movement that made an enormous impact in the last election would never be motivated and rallied by Romney. And I really do believe that "movement" is still alive and ripe to pick. Romney just is not the guy to attract and take advantage of that very present voting force. For this reason, if Romney is nominated, I believe he would be the worst chance to beat Obama.
  17. I would enjoy watching that also. IMO Gingrich would make Pres Obama look silly.
  18. As far as any of these scrimmages, I would pay little to no attention to wins, losses or scores, especially in margins 10 points or less. It is still pretty much practice, experimenting and giving time to deeper players on the bench to see how they do. A scrimmage game result isn't the best evidence of team being a regional favorite or not.
  19. As most of you have said, it is a decision between the coaches and the parents, trusting that they would have the best interest of the child/player in mind. I will add that it should only be considered if the coaches invite or give this opportunity. I have seen times where this move was initiated by parents that think their son/daughter is much more advanced than they really are. I guess I am saying this because, yes it is a parents decision, but only after the child was asked by a coach that already made a decision.
  20. Trinity this year is flat out special. We all know that. All year they played against high level competition and traveled to do so. This is the first time they play a team with a losing record, and a team that is on the down side of the normal public school talent cycle. Did anyone expect any different? Trinity scoring a whole bunch is not unclassy and Simon Kenton getting crushed by a #1 in the nation is no reason slam their kids or program. As they say, it is what it is. At least a couple in this thread can leave it at that, respect each other and congratulate.
  21. What is to answer here? Didn't you kind of answer your own question. If NKY produces state championships (more than one in one season consistently) it must not be that bad. I don't see where parents have to leave NKY, for their son to have a chance to play for a state championship program. In fact they have choices. It speaks for itself. No discussion.
  22. No, I told you, that is not how you do the Ickey Shuffle! Gimme that ball!
  23. On the surface and at first glance, I would agree that Gov Beshear has a choice and a religious freedom like all of us and there is no problem with his joining in the Hindu worship. Like most people say, its a private issue. However, let's take a deeper look. Hinduism, like other religions, is a belief system - or better said, a system of belief's that will shape and form ones actions. So much of what we do as people is directed and guided by what we believe even though we may not call ourselves religious. Truth is, all of us believe something and whatever we believe, golden rule, love your neighbor, 10 commandments etc., has an effect on our actions and behavior toward others and ourselves. Since Hinduism includes the "belief's" of working off bad karma, being born in different casts, and being reincarnated, it is common in a Hindu based culture, to not care for the sanctity of life in the same way we would here in USA. Please listen to my example...if you are in the lowest cast and are lying sick on the side of the road, according to the Hindu belief system, it would be better to leave you alone and die. Then you would be reincarnated and perhaps come back as something or someone in a better situation, or higher cast. It sounds crazy, but I suppose in that belief system it makes sense. It is helping you by not doing anything to physically help you and keep you in your low life state. In our culture, based on a different belief system, we would not do this. Because our heritage is based on a much different belief system that human life does not physically reincarnate, we tend to put more value on the one life we have to live and therefore more value on the lives of those around us. What is my point? Here in KY, our culture is not based on Hindu beliefs. We do not have a cast system where people are of more value than others, and it is better off for someone to just die and come back as something else. That is not how we roll! Call yourself religious or not, that is not who we are. We are a belief system that is based on all folks are created equal. We are a belief system where there is a compassion and appreciation for life. I am saying that it is all fine to have religious freedom, but at the end of the day, I would like my Governor to have some pride, some conviction and some strength to say, "I will respect your belief system, but I will not participate - it is not who we are."
