  1. Thanks Clyde for shifting into a forward gear. On that note, I do want to say this about the game from a defensive perspective. After a quarter of NCC's defense, I said to a buddy sitting next to me that there was no way they could keep that defensive intensity up for 4 quarters. I was flat out wrong. It seemed that it got more intense as the game went on. NCC could not hit many shots, but they almost won with the old saying "offense sells the tickets, defense wins the game". They did an incredible job of neutralizing the offensive advantage WV had with their phenomenal defensive effort. They contested shots, contested and denied passes, they were physical, and they forced a bunch of turnovers. NCC put themselves in a position to win, because of an their defensive effort. They made things very hard for Walton and the Bearcats do not win today without Kara Taulbee. She hit a couple of huge and timely, contested 3 pointers, that without them, NCC is putting on the shirts. Walton's defensive strategy looked somewhat the opposite. Not that they didn't hustle, but they didn't extend out and smother the perimeter. They laid back and gave up some open outside shots. This worked well for them, when they started rebounding defensively, as NCC only shot 21%. I suppose it was better to give up the low percentage shot, than to let them drive to score or get to the free throw line. I dunno. Just thought it was interesting to see the contrasting defensive plans based on taking advantage of each teams possible "weakness". Great game, and these two are scheduled to play again Wednesday, although I heard today it may get canceled as one of the teams is getting to close to the maximum number of games they can play. We shall see.
  2. :ohbrother: Sorry, but these were miserable attempts to congratulate the Lady Bearcat's. A little note of sportsmanship for you...Your shouldn't negatively accuse the winning team for celebrating their championship...it makes you look bitter. Congratulations Lady Bearcats! You made this your year, and great job sticking with it today through some adversity and a very tough battle with NCC. You wear your All A State Champion shirts with pride...you've earned it. Congratulations to NCC on their tournament run and their championship effort today...I know they didn't win, but they definitely played to win. They got nothing to hang their heads about. And because I want to be a little smarty pants...I think I'll go work on a design to submit for Walton Verona's 8th region tournament championship t shirt. :ylsuper:
  3. Here is you link. Once your on this page, click on the "listen Live" sign. http://www.wlgcradio.com/
  4. If I am not mistaken, she only needs two three pointer's tomorrow to break the standing KY "All A" tournament record for most 3 point field goals made in one tournament. The current record is held by Ingra Duncan (Monticello) from 1996 with 13. Kara is currently at 12 going into tomorrows match up against NCC. Here's to her hittin' about 8 of them!
  5. Congratulations Lady Bearcats and to the Lady Thoroughbreds! Also, congrats to the other NKY team that didn't get to advance, Bishop Brossart. Great job on your regional Championship and your run in the state tourney.
  6. ^This might be helpful...http://www.rossparkzoo.com/animals/binturong.htm
  7. I wondered that when I made that post. I agree, it should count. The tournament can be the capstone to your season and all your hard work. Seems like it could be a great measuring stick as to how far a team has come, and the job a coach has done. That being said, since the tournament will not matter, then I'm going with Coach Clinkenbeard at WV. Considering the success WV has had after losing the prior seasons leading scorer (Dixon) to graduation, the fact that Clinkenbeard is a first year coach implementing a little different style than the prior coach, and that WV has clearly outperformed the expectation of most preseason poll makers, the edge goes to him.
  8. At this point in the 8th, a case could be made for Wright, Clinkenbeard and Kays, but it is definitely too early. The deciding factor may/will come down to who comes out on top in the 8th region tournament.
  9. Just thought I would ask, I thought maybe you were trying to ruffle some feathers in here.
  10. I really don't care to see them...I wouldn't know what I am looking at anyway. Could you imagine looking at a tax return for Mitt Romney? All the business ventures, new starts, buying and selling businesses and/or properties, and not to mention a team of tax attorneys that utilize every deduction possible. It could be endless schedules and attachments, resulting in a very large book. I can't even understand or interpret my own taxes, much less his. In the end, I really don't see tax returns as a breakthrough for getting new votes.
  11. Sounds like your describing WV, shoot well and very good post player(s). If what you say about MC is correct, then I'm looking forward even more to that matchup. Let's hope both survive the first round.
  12. I agree..if their boys team is playing in the girls tournament!
  13. Agreed! If that happens, I'll have to leave work early Fri to make that one.
  14. See the PDF brackets here...http://www.allaclassic.org/General%20Information/Basketball%20Statewide/Tourney%20Info.htm I do think Brossart has a great opportunity to make a run. They are playing well and hopefully they can continue their momentum. The road is never easy, but looking at the brackets, their is no reason to think they can't at least get to the semi finals or finals. You never know what happens from there. If it means anything, the highest ranked team on their side of the brackets is NCC, who they recently got a close OT win over.
  15. Don't know if anyone else sees the irony in this, but if a team has to "duke it out" night after night, every game being a fight, and they can't beat anybody bad enough to consider it a "breather"...then why in the world would they be ranked at all, much less ranked in the top ten. In a way, what you are saying doesn't make much sense. In fact it is somewhat the opposite. Many of the higher ranked teams are beating people pretty bad and getting those play deep in your bench "breathers" For example, Marion County has played 17 games. Nine (over half) of them are wins by 20 plus, 4 (25%) were by 28 or more. It looks like they have some "breathers" in there to me. Same for DuPont Manual, 11 of their first 12 games were wins by 30 or more. Boone had 5 wins by 20 or more. You can look at it more if you want, but it didn't appear, for these teams anyway, that they were playing big time games every night. All of them had unranked opponents, and must play district games on their schedule, all AFFORDING them the opportunity for breathers.
  16. Based on that argument, the one that you can see, where so you think Walton should be ranked?
  17. They play the 7th Region Champ, Wednesday Jan 25th, 8:00pm. The 7th region starts their tournament this Wednesday. Looking ahead, it should be Louisville Collegiate, Kentucky Country Day or Whitefield, favored in that order.
  18. This is true...plus they have Gayheart...who knocks down the NBA three's. I think she finished 6 for 7 on treys for the game. Incredible. That makes any team hard to beat. Congrats to the Bearcats on the win and their successful, timely 3rd quarter double teaming of Gayheart to make her give up the ball.
  19. Your right on... Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV) How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" And by the way...Congratulations on the National Championship!
  20. Should be a good one. For the fun of it, I am going to pick ND. I don't think that is a stretch at all, however it might be tougher at BC.
  21. Awesome...the fellow is preaching the gospel. The good news for mankind, that a Savior has done for man what man COULD NOT do for Himself - pay the debt for his sin. He makes the cross and the work of Christ bigger, that is, he is boasting in the cross and the finished work of Jesus Christ as the only way for a man to come into righteousness, fellowship and relationship with His maker. He correctly preaches the emptiness and futility of man trying to make himself right with God apart from the cross of Christ through his effort and good works. If you are trusting in your works or performance to make yourself right with God and ultimately a place in heaven, then you are what this fellow calling religious. There is no amount of "doing good" or going to church that will make a person right with God. This self righteousness, if you will, is filthy rags before God. The standard is perfect and NO one can meet that. He is not saying that you don't do any good works, certainly good works you shall do, BUT you cannot trust in those works as being sufficient for your standing before God. The Apostle Paul stated the point this way to the church at Galatia, "If righteousness could be attained by keeping the law, then Christ died in vain!" Point is...we can't make ourselves good enough, we could never perform perfect - so the cross provides our salvation. The only one perfect, Jesus, took our debt for sin which is death and put it on Himself, and He was risen from the dead, thus stating that His sacrifice was sufficient for us. On the other hand, if a person has seen and admitted their sinful condition (not the action of sin as much as the condition of the heart as sinful - the reason we can't be perfect) AND wholeheartedly confesses this to Christ, putting all of their trust in the work of Christ on the cross, then that person can receive the salvation, forgiveness and righteousness that Christ provided for them. In other words, a persons faith is transferred from them self and their self performance to Christ and His incredible and sufficient work on the cross. Here are some scriptures. God made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin, to become sin, that we might become the righteousness of God, in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; Philip. 3:8-9 (NKJV) Faith in Christ, and not our religious performance, is our only hope for salvation and more so it is our hope for life and a new heart. Check this out... 2 Cor. 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Ephes. 4:24 (NKJV) and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Romans 6:4 (NLT) For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. This is joy and peace, this is life and life abundant - because it is what God has done for us, that we cannot do for ourselves. I just had to come to the end of myself and confess Christ as my only Savior and ask Him into my life. He comes in to anyone who admits and confesses Him. He comes in our hearts in the person of the Holy Spirit and He imputes all these things toward us. We become right...on His account! We have his heart and spirit in us...then...the good works will flow. Wow...I got to stop but I can't. I'm preaching on BGP! Praise the Lord!
