  1. Definitely going with the majority on this one. The Pioneers have given no reasons to pick them against a very good NCC. I will be surprised if they stay within 4 touchdowns.
  2. Since we are referencing the "Higher Being" aka God the Creator, let me remind you that He is actually the only one who knows what I took time to consider. You being human do not know what I considered. Not being mean, just honest. Here is why I did not conclude that the coach's actions was an honorable leadership role that you say I did not take time to consider. It is obvious and reported that the Colerain students/fans at some points chanted questionable chants toward the St. X fans and team. If the Colerain coach was motivated out of a pure and honest leadership role to stand for what is right, why did he not confront the Colerain students in the same manner for their disrespectful behavior. In short, he was either double standard by only publicly standing against one groups disrespect OR he lost composure in the moment and made a bad choice. I will let you answer for yourself.
  3. Maybe the plane has some parachutes for those who would like to "jump off".
  4. No excuse. No matter what the cheer was or when it was. There is no way a coach (leader and mentor) of high school athletes should ever react in such a manner to this situation. You just can't show your players how to lose composure when things get really hard. Next week a couple of players could "lose it" and throw some late hits. They could always say, "but coach, you don't know he said." The coach made a bad choice, as we are all capable of doing. It was not a good example of "mental toughness" that I am sure he tries to coach.
  5. Way to go Bearcats. Anyone who was at the game, where there a lot of turnovers?
  6. Didn't know they had more than one team... But for real, as BigTuna made reference, Beechwood is too quality of a program and too well coached to have back to back games not protecting the football. You don't win games consistently when you turnover consistently. Look for Beechwood to learn from last week and be ready to play.
  7. Based on what I have seen so far, should be a competitive game. I am going with Walton because of defense - you know "offense sells the tickets, defense wins the games." So far, they have held opponents scoreless 10 out of 12 quarters of football. They have allowed only one touchdown in the last two games. Also, they had a bunch of takeaways against Henry Co.
  8. Thanks. I thought it was referring to something like this, but didn't want to assume. Now that I know for sure, I will say that lie or no lie, a death penalty certainly does not fit the possible infraction. If there was lying to the KHSAA, the lie involved just what the accusation said - to keep a boy's eligibility to play sports at another school. In other words the alleged lying is not even to get a kid eligible into their own program. That being said, I just don't get the penalizing of a lot of unrelated kids that had nothing to do with what happened, especially when the school is not being accused of any practice that is illegally or dishonestly advancing their own athletic program...like I said the alleged lie was to keep him eligible to play at another school. Furthermore, if it has only been implemented 5 times by the NCAA, I think it is safe to say it is only for the most severe cases in NCAA standards. By the way Guru...thanks for going back and catching my question.
  9. SK...young team with too many new players that did not have a lot of varsity experience. I say they gel and come together for a win.
  10. Going with Trinity on this one. Two reasons...Trinity has some serious offensive weapons and I'll go with speed any day over size. Trinity by 21.
  11. Ryle fans will actually hope for Colerain LONG sustained drives...like most of the 1st quarter.
  12. Glad to see you all are missing him. :ylsuper:
  13. Perhaps I'll show my ignorance here (it's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last)...but what is the equivalent of the "death penalty" in college sports? Sounds serious.
  14. Saw some SK fans the other day and they had SK shirts on that said "Were just that good!" on the back. Maybe they should put those away for now and go back the shirts from a couple of years ago that said, "we Believe!" Just a thought. They need a little attitude adjustment for the 2nd half.
  15. How does ST X win 70-0 in week 1 and drop two spots in this poll? That's rough. I suppose they were supposed to win 91 to 0. NCC beats up on Dixie and jumps up 6 spots, leapfrogging ST X. I guess beating Dixie was that quality of a win.
  16. Got it...and your right. If you take into consideration the jesting toward uk#1fan, it makes sense.
  17. In reply to bjaynes... Big schools don't automatically stomp little schools. Especially in this case. Beechwood is NOT a typical little school program. I am sure SK faithful are calling for a win, but to say SK should "stomp" Beechwood is crazy. Beechwood is definitely higher than 28th and imo will be farther in the season.
  18. 7-Lloyd 5-Conner 3-Bellevue 2-Owen 1-Beechwood TB - Lloyd Lloyd
  19. Sorry on the link. One character got deleted. Try it now. http://wv.kyschools.us/activites/athletics/default.aspx?Paged=TRUE&p_PublishedDate=20110804%2016%3a35%3a00&p_ID=108&View=%7bDA63E597%2dA83A%2d4C57%2d9FFA%2dF930C29B269A%7d&PageFirstRow=11
  20. To say that WV got pushed around some after a 21 to nothing early season loss is one thing, but to say that is what happens to them in most sports is not only classless, but also just plain dumb. Not sure if this link will show up but if it does take some time to see WV sports accomplishments last school year. Clearly, they don't get pushed around. http://wv.kyschools.us/activites/athletics/default.aspxPaged=TRUE&p_PublishedDate=20110804%2016%3a35%3a00&p_ID=108&View=%7bDA63E597%2dA83A%2d4C57%2d9FFA%2dF930C29B269A%7d&PageFirstRow=11
  21. It's not NASCAR. To be "fair" every school would have to have the same amount of kids with the same amount at each height, speed and strength. Every coach with the same amount of experience. The same type of field, the same amount of fans, the same amount of booster support, the same shoes and so on. Perhaps then, it would be "fair". As far as I am concerned, it's fine the way it is. It allows for the "David vs. Goliath's". And this gives oppurtunity for great stories, great achievements and big goals for teams and programs to work toward. And this, my friend, teaches a young man life. Some one might be better, but if you work hard and put your self to the task, you can do great things. I'll take this anyday over regulation and trying to make us all the same. If you "dumb down" some teams and programs to make things fair, then you rob the young man of a valuable life lesson and experience. You teach him that in life if he doesn't work hard, it doesn't matter, someone is going to come along and fix it and make it fair.
  22. It's hard to remove competition from a competition.
