I believe it was a couple of years ago that Bethlehem canceled a game with Corbin due to injuries.

Frustrating year indeed for everyone! You say there is no reason for this but if you look at the injury report I think the reason is very apparent. They have been mixing and matching players on a weekly basis to fill the voids due to injuries. Doubt tonight will be the night they turn the corner but maybe a week off they can make a good showing in the playoffs.

I actually thought the new defense they used against Lincoln helped them stop the run a little better. I also noticed that when Guay was at QB and Ellis was in the game they were pretty much moving the ball at will. Then Ellis went out for the game in the 2nd quarter and they struggled to move the ball after that. All Lincoln had to do was take the fullback away and they knew Mercer didn't have any weapons to hurt them. The bottom line is their lines are getting dominated and until that is fixed things won't get much better.

Commander you are dead on! Coach Settles will do a good job at Lincoln. The fans there understand and are patient with him. They understand that it will take him some time to get his program in place. While the wins may not show it their kids look alot better and alot stronger he has his system in place and the wins will follow. The weightroom is what I was referring to, my understanding was they only have about 5 kids in their program that can bench press 200 lbs (If true that is sad). It is imperative that the Mercer kids get stronger they just look so much smaller than everyone they play and it shows in their blocking and their tackling.

I think Lewis started and then Guay came in and played alot at QB. Then they lost Ellis for the game in the 2nd quarter. So it appeared that after halftime Guay was at running back. No Johnson, No Ellis, No Burrus spells big trouble for the Titans. You can also forget about the fire Mason talk. He isn't going anywhere the administration is fully aware of the situation he was placed in and is 100% in his corner.

This is hilarious you say the teams they play are bigger and stronger. Hello that is becasue they have all been in the weightroom! So you want to get rid of the coach who HAS implemented a weight training program and has held the kid accountable. Those kids hit the weight room right after Thanksgiving last year and there were coaches int he weightroom at 6AM and after school 4 days a week, they also had a spring practice for the first time in several years. Also the kids that didn't want to participate are no longer with the team. All this that he has implemented and you give him 16 months and want him out. Tell your son to listen to the coach and not you and he will be successful I am sure your negativity and dislike for the current coach is doing him no good. If I am not mistaken Mason had 3 successful years at Nelson before his last year but I am not for sure, I know they always played a tough schedule. The coaching isn't the problem it just takes hard work in the off season. Which is something these kids haven't been asked to do before! I don't know if he is the right man or not but I do know that he has put a lot of things in place that will lead to a successful program but are the kids tough enough to meet his demands. If they do success will follow!

I think this post right here sums everything up in a nutshell, the Madsionville coach leaving had nothing to do with not being allowed to bring assistants (I will also bet he counts his blessings everyday that he went back to Madisonville). I am sure you would rather have Jaggers back, no off season weights, no spring practice. Hey your son got a vacation from November until July and it shows on the field on Friday night.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe they just aren't very good? I have seen 2 games and they just get dominated on the line of scrimmage. Plus last night there were several players on the sideline that were in street clothes not playing. In watching the game they appear to be weak up front and get pushed around. Mason is a better man than me, to deal with what he is dealing with. He was dealt a really bad hand, that it will take a tremendous amount of time and energy to fix. The parents think they are playing in 2A against Garrard, Casey and the likes and haven't come to the realization that they are playing with the big boys now. Their kids need buy into hardwork and preparation year around and their parents need to quit making excuses and looking for someone else to blame! I will end with this if the current parent atmosphere in Mercer County doesn't change there will NEVER be a successful program. The parents feed the negativity as this post suggests by not supporting the program. My son got his butt kicked lets blame the coach! And in case you are wondering, Yes I know some of the coaches and know they are doing their best and what they are dealing with in regards to the parents and it is not conducive to a winning program.

Remember this? Do you actually watch the football games? The SW offensive and defensive lines manhandled the Mercer lines. Mercer needs to get in the weightroom! I got an idea it is apparent that 5A is too tough for the Mercer kids! Maybe they can petition the KHSAA to let them play in 2A and they can beat up on the Casey County's of the world and you can come on here and pound your chest about how good they are! That game last night was the simple case of the boys of Mercer against the men of SW and the boys didn't want any! But oh yeah it was the coaches fault!

Man what a double standard! How many losses does Boyle have? You guys sure wanted to judge the Mercer program due to them getting beat by Boyle, now they win and you want to say they didn't beat anyone! I got to watch the MC/SL game in person and will admit Mercer didn't play well in the second half, but in the first half they were clicking pretty well.

This isn't even an arguement. Who would you want to coach your son? I want Perry Thomas!
