According to a Buchanan family member he has no interest in returning to Mercer. I am sure that is the answer he has to give being that he is already has a job. I still think that is a long shot, although I did hear the rumblings about a position at the Freshman academy for Buchanan but also heard there are people within the district that have time that are also wanting that position. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath this is going to be a long drawn out process that is a long way from its conclusion. I am sure there have been a few calls made just to get a feel but other than that I don't beleive anything serious is taking place. There may be some posturing being done by some of the candidates but I don't think the administration is anywhere close to conducting an interview.

The issues that plague our program go alot deeper than who the head coach is.

It was a strange game to say the least. It kind of got away from John Hardin pretty quickly. It was a really intense game I would say the teams are alot closer thean the final score indicated. Recovering the onsided kick after going up 25-20 and scoring quickly afterward staggered JH and they never recovered (I believe 2 scores in the final minute of the 3rd quarter). Tandy is unreal anxious to see how they match up against the Bluebirds. I would venture a guess that Christian, BG, WC and JH are all pretty close and could beat each other on given nights. Christian ran the gauntlet and one more tough one to get.

The question for all of us Titan fans is this. We all have our hopes of Buchanan or Rains. What if it isn't either of those and it is an unproven head coach with no track record. Will we give him a chance?

It appears that you favor Buchanan. The question being why would he even consider leaving a secure position like Mason County to take on a volatile situation like Mercer? Homeboy or not when he struggles he will get the same treatment every other coach has gotten. I think both he and Rains would be great choices for us, but I just can't come to convince myself that they would actually consider this situation. Whoever gets the job should be set up with nice numbers in the upper grade levels and should be set up to be a player in the district race.

I think that any of the 5 would do an outstanding job. The last 2 years have seen some small senior classes, it looks like next year we will have a bigger senior class. I think with numbers being up and the talent that we have we should be able to be really competitive next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see them hand the keys to Britt as stated he is in the building and maybe he is ready for his first HC opportunity.

No surprise, I think they may look outside Jefferson County first.

The Mercer complex is all sports. Which means that when spring sports start the football teams has to schedule around those sports. During football season the other sports schedule around football.

What is to take to extreme? It is all there to read the number one thing should be winning and nobody cares whether they are a good teacher or not! I also heard yesterday that there was notice sent to the administration by parents or fans that they were going to begin a "smear campagin" to have Mason removed. Apparently they were going to attend SBDM & Board Meetings and write letters to the editor on a weekly basis until he left. Don't have any idea if this is true but I think my source is pretty reliable.

After reading some of your previous posts it is apparent that you have a kid on the team. It appears that you believe that it is all about winning, which is a large part of the job. But to have no regard as to whether a coach is a quality teacher is just amazing. I believe this post sums up our situation at Mercer County! So I guess you could have a coach who goes 10-0 but is involved in illegal activities and you are ok with that!

I wasn't going to go there, but I know there is a lot of people that feel that way. I hate to keep saying it but our program is an absolute mess and if people think that next year is going to be dramatically better we will be back in the same boat next year. The issue is everyone is blaming Mason, he was the head coach for 15 months! He had one off season and he had the weightroom open 4 days a week and several mornings before school, he had spring practice and he had a system he believed in. Now I feel that we have just set ourselves back! Our team will not have an organized off season and then they will learn a new system next year. I just think that him resigning was not what this program needed. I know there are several that feel differently but I try to look at the big picture and I saw what was going on behind the scenes and what was going on there was how a successful program was built. Hardwork!

I am sure Jaggers would come back for a price!!!!!!!!!!!As for James he is fantastic and was a joy to watch run and when they lost both he and Guay at the QB position the season seem to change dramatically. I only hope that we find some way to put a dominate offensive line on the field for him to run behind.

Bingo you just hit the nail onthe head. I am sure the weightroom is open if they want to use it, but as you know there is alot more that goes into the off season than benching and squating. I can assure you without someone forcing them to lift the turnout will be very light. My opinion is that this mess that we have created at Mercer county is not a place to throw some rookie coach. Maybe Jaggers would be interested in coming back?

The bottom line is that any coach in this district has his or her legs cut out from under them. All any parent has to do is complain and their word is taken over a coaches. That is just the climate, I hear it in the stands every week. Yeast Buchanan Rains Jason Dunn Whoever it is they need to get someone quickly becasue this team needs to be in the weightroom!

It will not happen! Too many variables that have to fall into place. I don't know Buchanan as well as you do I am sure, but he would be insane to get involved in this climate. I find it quite odd that your statement of supporting the new coach when you showed little for the previous. Again you say disciplinarian but what would Buchanan do if he disciplined a kid and their parent called the administation and complained and they supported the parent? Please don't fool yourself into thinking that they would support him! Hasn't happened in many years and it won't happen now! Heck ask the baseball coach about support he had a heck of a season going and the parents complained that he practiced too long. What do you think happened..................thats right he had to shorten his practices. The basketball coach was within 3 points of the sweet sixteen and they fire him. This is a really tough situation currently! It is going to take the efforts of administrators, coaches and fans to pull us out of this and yes it is going to take parents getting their feelings hurt.

So you are referencing 3 posts and you want to let those three posts represent the entire Boyle fanbase? I never said that anyone on this board was classless! The only point being that every fanbase has their fans that will always not handle losing very well and for that matter there are fanbases that don't handle winning very well. Oh well I have wasted enough time on this subject! You guys are defending your position as you should! I just think there are other people that look at it a little different and I am sure that both sides have a little truth in them.

Thanks you cleared that up! Every fanbase has their share of fans that don't always handle losses well. And yes there isn't any fanbase that is any worst than ours but it kind of struck a nerve when titletown was acting like the Rebels didn't have theres. I aslo think the reason you respect the Bell Co. fans is you understand that they are a threat. However teams that you feel are no threat you can thumb your nose to.

Please don't get on here and act like that Boyle fans are gracious losers. I was also at the Bell game when Boyle lost and their fans were just as bad as any other team after a loss and their fans were walking out of the stadium blaming coaches and officials. it is this elitist atttitude that makes the classless shoe fit your fanbase well!

The bottom line is they were up 42-3 who cares the down, I think the trick play was unnecessary but if Boyle did it I guess it is right.

Don't really know what Harlan has on the offensive and defensive lines but if they are strong up front Mercer will be in trouble. They just need those guys up front to get in the weight room they are just being dominated on both sides of the ball. They struggle to open holes on offense and they struggle to close them on defense and that is a bad combination. Games like this are won in the off season!

I think Mercer has a shot, they have just struggled to stop anyone. Hopefully Mercer gets some of the injured back. I am sure they bye week came at a good time for them.
