These numbers are accurate. My knowledge is only of the freshman from last year. I will be happy to make the following predictions and/or statement of fact: 1. Last years freshmen team played their best game against Highlands (first game of the season). Tehy were at least equal to Highlands team, losing only in the last few seconds of the game. There is no reason for their 5-5 record, other than that were not well coached. the play calling was quite disappointing and many kids were playing out of position. Welcome to Freshman Football. Period end of statement. That is exactly why there has been a change in the Freshman staff this year. 2.. Fast forward to this year, and I will predict that this same 2010 Freshman class will go undefeated as JV's without Walker. Go ahead, mark it down. We will discuss in detail as the season progresses. 3. The current JR. class is not that stronge except for the key players that are currently starting, primarily on the defensive side of ball. Therefore, you can go ahead and predict that the 2012 Jr class (same freshman group discussed above) will be major contributors in 2012, especially on the Offensive line where they will be quite large and physical. :walk:Over and Out. Agree with this assessment, however, he really does not have much choice this year. He does not have the personnel to just ram it up the middle. I can only hope that he remembers this when it is time to deliver

Listened to it on the way home from the St. X game and it sounded like a total beat down. Trinity is in a league of their own right now. The only comment I can make is why was Beatty playing his 1's on offense and defense when he was up by 4 touchdowns in the early 4th quarter ? Is depth a problem ?

You have to give Saint X credit. I was glad to see Mattingly get in their and throw the ball right off the bat. It is obvious to me that everything we have been hearing about Glaser finally opening up the offense is true. Without a bruising marquee back and line, he has adjusted nicely to what he has. On the downside, the tigers learned nothing from this game and will have their hands full next week at PJCS. I will say it again. No supersstars on this team YET....Offensively, they have many Weapons and their defense flys to the ball ! All you doubters beware !

simon Kenton blitzed practically every play and runs some gimmick "everybody stand up and fake blitz routine" sort of like an old musical...ala Southen Mississippi/Memphis and all those other "power" programs. Quite frankly, the X line did a great job once they figured it out. 35-Zip... does not take a rocket scientist to understand the final outcome I personally saw every down and feel the line, while slightly undersized at times, plays pretty nasty...

I Agree with Oxnard's comments, but I may be just a bit more optimistic Offensively they will lack that big power back that has Glaser has always hung his hat (and his entire offense) on. They started and played a bunch of 15 year old Sophomore to-be's against a team reported to be way better than the Tigers are at this juncture. That is a good thing, and unlike other years, this is the year that the offense will change. I really do think that the tigers have more weapons on offense than they have had in the recent past, and will take advantage of more OVERALL team speed and OVERALL athleticism there. While there may not be a Deuce Finch back there, the numbers will add up. Defensively, they will fly to the ball. Tigers D is fast on fast. There is not a better D End than Roesller (Just turned 16 I might add). Sermersheim is the same at Safety (Again, just turned 16) and he runs a 4.5 or better. Stone and Clyburn together are huge in the middle. With one of them blitzing every play, things will get ugle early for the opponents. The may be just a tad weak in the middle on the line (Geary being the exeption as he is a big, physical kid). No team problems, they are only growing together as a team ! I expect really great things this year. It will be fun to watch them, as I doubt you will ever see them give up.

I think that Trinity will have little or no problem here. 35-13

That is some strong stuff there ! But, I would say that the three backs that St. X has in the rotation are strong once all get healthy.. I think that you would be hardpressed to find a better rotation. Quarterback Mattingly is no slouch either.

What advantages does Trinity have over Highlands other than... a player that will be playing on Sunday's-Quick. Regardless, I expect a good game. The stands will be packed.......3000+ my guess

The demise of St. Xavier....REALLY ? Small, unathletic, nobody in the backfield, bad defense.. I am going to cut and past this one and get it on the bulletin board.

Nobody is hurt, they were hitting hard yesterday in practice. The backers (Stone and Clyburn) look great. QB Mattingly looks good and is a better passer than I have seen. The only deal right now is that the two retuning running backs are nursing a pulled hamstring and some calf issues. Someone surmised it best in that last years team had some real personality issues that this team does not seem to have. They will get better as the year goes on.

No it was just unattractive and needed to be moved.

Could not agree more with your first comment. I can't disclose too much to a Rock Fan, but can tell you that the PLANS ARE to throw the ball a little more. This will be a much better offense than last year, with a more athletic QB and maybe a few wrinkles

I would not be so quick to predict a St. X Blow Out. I do not think that this is a "great " St. X team and this early in the season, I doubt it will be anything to write home about. St. X is Good, with many starting players from last year gone. Glaser is going to change thinks up a bit this year, and you will see more out of the offense. Not sure how much more, but the QB is athletic in the mold of Buehner from a couple years back, and he can turn it up field and run with it. Defensively, St. X has 4-5 really nice potential D-1 players that are fast, quick, big and strong. Some are going to be juniors. Maybe a better group than last year once the season gets moving. The only prediction I will make is that Offensively, there are a some new faces and talent that will surprise many

Clemons will be the one back he has all groed up and is around 190#'s.. They also have some new faces on offense that will see time as sophomores. Defenseviely they are very stong with roessler, big george and semmersheim

Klein has done a good job. This was a good Sr. Class, but the glue (point guard Michael Ising had a bad ankle and only played 1/2 the game at most) St. X has a good sophomore group and a great Freshman group coming up. As long as he and coach Glaser can get the Football/Basketball transition figured out, they will be tough to deal with in another year.

Bearcats have all the right things going for them. Good coaching Staff, Good Quarterback. They need to start venturing out and playing some bigger names to get any recognition.

Ballard's program is very strong. They are very strong all the way down into the 7th-8th and 9th grades with a Quasi-Feeder system in FOCUS Basketball Academy. Coach Tim Barnett does an outstanding job with these young kids. While the program is open to any or all kids in and out of district, the good ones generally end up at Ballard, Trinity, St. X, Manual and Trinity. Keelan Martin is a product therof as are a number of their Freshmen and Sophomores. Their JV and Freshmen teams are best in Jefferson County (way better than J'Town and Eastern at this point)

by the way, chain food does not count in this discussion... soo00 0000.. Zaxby's and Chic-fil-a (sorry rocks) do not count......

Louisville Central. Ribs, chicken, rib tips. barbequed quail and pidgeon. all outstanding. just kiddin about the last two but other than that.... some of the best BBQ anywhere.

It would be nice if they did something like this down here in Jeff County, but they do not. Perhaps too many teams, but St. X Trinity and Central are very talented teams

BINGO ! you got it. Offense Line Size, strength and stability is hurting every level of St. X from Frosh on. This is most troubling, and does not look to improve as there does not appear to be any concern at any level about developing and O-Line.
