  1. This isn't a knock against any of the other SK players but, if you can limit Wainscott to 13 or fewer points, you have a good chance at winning. She's the key to the success of this team and if W-Town plays them in the district, they have several defenders that will limit her opportunities!
  2. Don't be surprised if your prediction has a different outcome. I'll agree that Walton should win their first round game since they'll be playing GC and honestly, they should win the district. However, the SK and Williamstown game is where I have to disagree. Williamstown has been playing rather well lately and SK hasn't lived up to the expectations. Who would have ever thought SK would be down to GC after 3 quarters a couple of games ago. I'll be rooting for the Demons in this matchup!
  3. I guarantee you that this clown working this game DOESN'T work NCAA games.
  4. Can't believe I forgot about him....especially after seeing his summer haircut
  5. In the last 8 years, Coldiron has called 2 finals and he is probably the best to come out of the 8th region in 15 years. Howell also called the finals a couple of years ago, and he did do a good job...that night. Respectfully and IMO, the 8th region is one of the weakest when it comes to officiating....if there's 6 to 8 calling college games, their schedule must full for those games because I haven't seen them at high school games!
  6. Several great comments about the subject! During a recent game, an official called a foul and verbally commented that the defender checked the player with "BOTH HANDS". What's really the difference of one or two hands....nothing! However the single hand checks were questioned all night long, without being called. Another call that should be enforced is when a player picks up the dribble and two defenders make contact with the offensive player and is eventually pushed either out of bounds or is bumped moving the pivot foot. Obvious contact in both situations and unfortunately the offensive player is charged with a turnover because the official didnt make the right call. MOST officials need to go back to officiating 101 and learn the real rules of basketball.....20 years ago, a small sized fundamental team had a chance to compete against larger players. IMO, officials are usually the instigators of a hostile game because they don't call the game the way it should be!!
  7. I've been to several games in the 8th region and really feel sorry for whatever region gets this bunch
  8. Yes, I think it hurts their confidence a little but, several other players have stepped up lately and filled in for those that are missing. This team is young and by the end of the season, the experience for the younger players will pay off. The record may not be what everyone wanted at this point in the season but look at what has happened lately, and that has to be considered. Eventually the free throws will start to fall again and this team will be "OVERACHIEVING", come tournament time.
  9. I'm guessing that a majority of officials were players in high school that didn't make it to the next level and still wanted to be around basketball. I know several officials that this applies to.
  10. Did someone from the Walton administration address WV's cheering section and put a stop to a chant "PRIOR" to addressing the GC cheering section....YES!! The GC cheering section responded to WV's chant and then they were addressed by Mr. Krumman.
  11. I guess all the whining helped each of them get a state tournament ring.
  12. How can Ballard be behind Lex Cath when they beat them at Lex Cath.....amazing!
  13. Could the same be said for the so called "HOP STEP"? Basically, the ball is picked up, then the hop takes place/pivot foot is picked up, and the ball isn't released...doesn't that constitute a walk? I think this is another definition of the traveling rule changing over the last 30 years!
  14. I agree that it COULD be a good game too.....However, I give the edge to SK since they're playing better and Chambers is starting to click. If Doss could step it up a notch or two, this could be over quicker than expected.
  15. Absolutely true.....everything depends on when the dribble is picked up!
  16. The final score doesn't tell how great of a game this was for 29 consecutive minutes!!!! Yes, Ballard won but LC gave them all they could handle for most of the game. Ballard has a deep bench and very well coached to say the least.....LC on the other hand isn't very deep but they are a relentless bunch that never gave up. LC's Martin is an outstanding player and very fun to watch, must have had thirty plus for the night.
  17. Walter, I can't speak for what's in the daily paper today...on Monday this week (via the web page NKY.com), Weber posted about how excited he was to be back and was looking forward to covering the Kenton Classic....haven't seen a darn thing about this tournament. With 2 kids active in sports, BGP and other web sites are my news source. Merry Christmas!!!
  18. RC - AGREE 100%! One would think that with 3 sports reporters that claim they cover NKY prep sports, every game could have some type of coverage or at least a box score. But noooooooo, 90% of the stories on NKY.com are negative and will never change.....prep sports is one of the few positive daily activites that go on in this country! BGP members should demand better coverage :irked:
  19. According to a good source, Scott 71 SK 70.....final
  20. Grant wins with ease....after the 1st quarter, it was a double digit lead for the entire game.
