Bishop Brossart beat Lloyd easily at Lloyd. Final was 10-3 but should have been 10-0 or 10-1. Had a costly throwing error on a pickoff that scored two runs. They must be up and down. Had only six hits versus us and three of them in one inning.

Conner is rolling right now, but it will still be a dead heat at the end between Conner and Ryle. Ryle has played an awfully tough stretch of games. In the ninth, which is down a bit overall, it will be those two and then Dixie Heights, Boone Co. and St. Henry as spoliers depending on how the draw and seeding goes.

Saw this game tonight at Dixie. Dixie was bouncing back after a tough loss to Ryle. Mason is improved. Megan James had a nice game for Dixie Heights going 3 for 4 and sending one to three different fields. Dixie's pitcher did a nice job. Dixie will be a contender in the 9th Region. They are very solid.

I see Graybill thumped another one. Everyone is going to stop giving her much to hit. The score is surprising.

If we play such a bad schedule what do you say about the teams we are beating 17-5, and 13-3. We play almost every top team in Northern Kentucky. Boone Co. might be the only exception. We cant always play everyone because of our commitment to NKAC, District and All "A" Games. We have to leave games open every year in case we reach the All "A" State. All of those games count toward your allotment. We have one of the top 5 schedules in Northern Ky. no question. I would give the nod to Ryle and Conner in that respect but they have a tougher District schedule, have to play everyone in Division I and dont have All "A" to leave games for.

We can choose to write when and where we wish to. We like getting our athletes as much exposure and articles as possible. Everyone has the same opportunity. Accounts on here are free to all Head Coaches. The Guru will hook them up. Softball is a sport not covered as well by the media as basketball and some sports so we feel it is, and all of our coaches in all sports feel this way, that we want to get the name of Bishop Brossart and our athletes in the press or media whenever possible. We actually care about things like our kids making All Region teams, All-State teams (Had two last year). We respect Silver Grove thats why we played 18 players against them. It's a District game and it counts as much as Campbell, Scott or any other District game.

We play Ryle lol you make comments and don't even check the facts. We play St. Henry, Conner, Dixie heights, Simon Kenton, etc etc. No offense to anyone but the comment about Nicholas Co. Please look at THEIR schedule and compare to ours.

:ylsuper: Silver Grove started the day coming off a big 20-1 win Tuesday night over Augusta in the opening round of the 10th Region All “A” Tournament. They added to their momentum by retiring Bishop Brossart one-two-three in the first inning. The next three innings would derail the Lady Big Trains though as Brossart used 18 players in defeating the Grove 19-0 in four innings at Silver Groves' City Field. Bishop Brossart improves it's season record to 9-2 while Silver Grove falls to 3-7. Junior centerfielder Tricia Kramer had a big game for Brossart going 3 for 4 with two rbis and recorded 3 stolen bases. Senior rightfielder Taylor Hardy smacked her first career homerun to left center driving home three runs. Junior Maria Greis walked her first three times at the plate but then in the fourth claimed all over a a fastball for a three run triple to left. Sophomore Jamie Reis came off the bench to rocket two singles to left while Lauren Cookendorfer recorded her first ever career varsity hit. On the mound, freshman Karlie Shackelford (9-2) and junior Mary Kay Reilly combined for a one hitter. They retired the first 11 batters in a row before Silver Grove senior Peyton Govan singled to left. On the next pitch Govan attempted to steal second but was gunned down by 8th grade catcher Amanda Lloyd on a perfect strike to Emily Greis at second. Overall Brossart had 19 runs, 13 hits, 13 stolen bases and reached 8 times on bases on balls while splitting time between the varsity and junior varsity. The 'Stangs will take a day off before practicing Friday and getting ready for their All “A” Showdown Saturday with Nicholas County. The last two days Brossart defeated Newport Central Catholic 17-5, who had scored a 17-0 win the day before and now Silver Grove 19-0 a day after their 20-1 win over Augusta. Well the problem is HE is the one who doesn't see things well, especially when hes out cutting grass and doesn't even attend the game. That bucket he sets on must affect his vision hehe. The first batter was out on a bunt attempt for NCC then the second batter hit a ball to left that went off our leftfielder's glove for an error. He also forgot the error our shortstop made who could have had a force on a flip to second. THEN NCC did have three nice hits but with the first out had the two outs been recorded those three batters would have never batted...THUS.....unearned runs. Duh:deadhorse:

Things started slowly for Bishop Brossart allowing Newport Central Catholic five unearned runs in the first two innings at Pendery Park. It seemed we might have a replay of Mondays' game, but this time the bats came alive for the Lady 'Stangs as they continued their mastery over the Lady Breds' 17-5 in five innings. The 17 run 14 hit attack would come off of four NCC pitchers. Brossart is now 8-2 on the season while NCC falls to 6-6. Brossart has beaten NCC in every meeting now since the 2007 season. The relative youth of the Brossart team should bode well in continuing that streak in future years. Newport CC had been playing well, having lost a heartbreaker to Cincinnati McNicholas 3-2 and then yesterday blasting Beechwood 17-0. It was the first meeting between the two rivals since last year's easy 7-0 win by Brossart at Bartlett Field. Two costly Brossart errors in the first inning and some timely hitting by NCC dug the 'Stangs a 3-0 deficit, but unlike yesterday the home team bounced back with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Following two quick outs, pitcher Karlie Shackelford doubled and was replaced by courtesy runner Caroline Woeste. Firstbaseman Maria Greis hit a sharp single to left and then secondbaseman Molly Williams drilled a double in the gap to plate Woeste. Sophomore Gretchen Trumbo, with runners on second and third, delivered a clutch single to drive home Greis and Williams and it was tied 3-3. In the second inning once again the Lady 'Stangs played good neighbor by giving up two more unearned runs on two errors putting NCC on top 5-3. Brossart was up to the task though scoring four of their own with one out to take the lead again 7-5. Tricia Kramer reached on an error, Erica Riedeman singled and Shackelford walked. Williams scored one with a sacrifice fly and then Trumbo knocked in another two with a bloop to center. Taylor Hardy took a bases loaded walk to force in run 7. Shackelford from that point pitched three scoreless innings earning her 8th win of the season. She allowed just 3 NCC baserunners the final 3 stanzas. Brossart added two more in the third inning to make it 9-5 on rbis by Greis and Williams. The fourth inning though would be the backbreaker for the Lady 'Breds. The Lady 'Stangs would double the score scoring nine runs and sending 12 batters to the plate in the fourth allowing Brossart to run rule NCC in five innings. In that inning 8 of the 9 Bishop Brossart batters scored a run. Six different batters had rbis including two each by Shackelford and Williams. Five different Brossart batters finished with at least two hits. Williams and Trumbo each had 4 rbis while Greis had three and Shackelford 2. The Bishop Brossart freshmen today defeated Highlands freshmen 13-0. It was a good day at Pendery Park. The Lady 'Stangs now travel to Silver Grove Wednesday for a 37th District game with Silver Grove before preparing for a huge All “A” Game Saturday with Nicholas County. This week is the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. On Monday the Lady 'Stangs ship didn't sink but it bounced off the iceberg. “It certainly wasn't what we were looking for,” exclaimed Bishop Brossart head coach Tom Baynum after surveying the damage of the Lady 'Stangs loss to Bracken County. “I am extremely disapointed with that performance. We didn't put the ball in play, we had only two hits, we made 8 errors, we struck out 8 times, we got behind on their hitters, the list is long.” When the dust settled Bracken County's Polar Bears had clawed their way to a 12-0 win over Bishop Brossart at Pendery Park. Brossart had runners on second and third with two out in the second but failed to score in their only serious threat of the game. Bracken County sent 33 batters to the plate in five innings while scoring 8 unearned runs capitalizing on Brossart mistakes. “It's disapointing when you have a team that has our potential to be very good,” sighed Baynum. “If you want to be a top tier team you have to be ready to play every game. It doesn't matter who the opponent is, whether your out of school, or what the situation is. You have to be mentally ready to play the game.” Bishop Brossart is now 7-2 and Bracken County 6-8 after the loss. The nice thing is, with the All “A” Classic coming up they have a chance to beat Nicholas County and get another shot at Bracken Co. next week. Next up Brossart needs to bounce back and keep atop the NKAC race beating NCC on Tuesday. The Lady 'Stangs crushed NCC last season 7-0. In the junior varsity game Monday, Brossart dominated Bracken Co. winning easily 7-1. Mark Kay Rielly, who pitched over two innings of shutout ball in the varsity game allowed just two hits and struck out 5 in winning the JV team's fifth game of the season in four innings. Amanda Lloyd led the tema with two hits and an rbi. Lloyd and Emily Greis each scored two runs.

How did Bracken Co. do over the weekend I saw Oldham Co. beta them 15-0 but the other games werent reported

Four year Bishop Brossart starting catcher Lindsay Griffith has made a successful transition to college softball and after 23 games leads the College of Mt. St. Joseph in batting with a .400 average. She is tied for the team lead in total bases and among the leaders in rbis.

Next Saturday April 14 at 11:30 AM. All of Nicholas' Seniors are out of town next week
