Didn't have too. Had eight starters back counting the DH and added a quality pitcher and catcher. Many lost far more than we did. Also we started 4 freshmen and two sophomores last year who got a great varsity experience during a 26-6 season.

The Bishop Brossart varsity baseball team crushed the Panthers of Ludlow in the River City tonight 13-2. Connor Verst was the winning pitcher for Brossart. Trevor Bezold had a big game with a 3 for 4 performance including a double, home run, and four rbis. Zach Fardo had a double, home run and five rbis for BBHS.

:clap:Campbell Co. was the number four seed in girl's bowling for the first ever KHSAA State Bowling Tournament in Louisville today. Campbell Co. won the NKAC Championship and the District Championship. Bishop Brossart was the Number 13 Seed. The Lady 'Stangs showed that seeding doesn't mean much in post season. Today they beat Campbell Co. in the State Tournament to eliminate the Lady Camels and advance to play a good taylor County team where they lost in the quarterfinals. The Bishop Brossart team was the only Northern Ky. to advance to the second round in the girl's competition.

Beechwood is much improved they will win some games this year

Coach Tom Baynum saw his Lady 'Stangs improve to a perfect 3-0 on Thursday evening as Bishop Brossart cruised to a 13-3 six inning win over very much improved conference rival Beechwood at Pendery Park. “I was very pleased how we took advantage of opportunities in the game,” exclaimed a happy Baynum. Brossart scored 8 of their 13 runs after two outs and only had five runners left on base. Brossart jumped on top with a run in the first inning when Molly Williams kncoked home courtesy runner Caroline Woeste with a shot to left. In the third inning they opened up a 5-1 lead when nine Brossart batters strolled to the plate with Maria Greis (who returned as the cleanup hitter) drilling a double to drive home one and then Allie Anstead drilling a clutch two out two rbi single to give them a four run lead. Solid baserunning and putting the ball in play produced 3 more in the fourth for an 8-1 advantage. Beechwood put together three singles in the fifth to cut it to 8-3 after four complete. The Lady 'Stangs delivered the game ender in the fifth when Taylor Hardy singled then Tricia Kramer reached on a walk. Then with one out freshman pitcher Karlie Shackelford helped herself by blasting a long home run to center that crossed the fence, grassy knoll and park walkway for three more and the Greis would score thanks to a grounder by Gretchen Trumbo to make it 12-3. In the bottom of the sixth Anstead (hit), Hardy (walk) and Kremer (error) reached base before Tricia Kramer grounded to short to send home Anstead with run 13 and the game. Kramer scored 3 runs, Erica Riedeman knocked in two along with three sacrifices, and Shackelford, Greis, Williams Anstead and Hardy all had two hits, Shackelford reached base all four times on the home run, a single, a walk and was hit by a pitch. She improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 2.00 ERA. The Lady 'Stangs are now 3-0 and have outscored opponents 39-6 and are now 2-0 in NKAC play. In the junior varsity contest they also ran their record to 3-0 beating Beechwood 11-0 in a game called by darkness in the fourth. Mary Kay Reilly celebrated her birthday by pitching the Lady 'Stangs JV to the win allowing just two hits and striking out 5. She also reached base twice. Katelyn Seiter knocked home three runs for Coach Ashley Heck's team while Caroline Woeste, Emily Greis, and Riley Orth each scored two runs for Brossart. Orth also drilled a double to drive in two. Usually that District doesn't seed. They don't in basketball.

Bracken County broke open a 2-2 game and went to 9-2 then 12-4 in earning a win in Newport

Just a small minor strain but when up 13-0 why take a chance and also you want to give your other pitcher work. Brossart is off Wednesday (no game) so that gives an extra day also to be ready. Then after Thursday we get a three day period with no games. It is like spring training still. Have six games next week

Good time to get both pitchers work and also one has a minor injury. Lot of games left to go this year. The goal is to stay healthy and win all year.

The Big Green Machine kicked it into high gear on Tuesday to run tehri season record to 2-0 easily beating the Lady Cats of Pendleton County 18-0 in three innings. The game was played in Falmouth, Ky. The lady cats fall to 0-2 on the young season. Brossart led from the first pitch scoring 6 in the first, 10 in the second and 2 in the third to cruise in a game they could basically name the score. Freshman Karlie Shackelford and junior Mary Kat Reilly combined for the shutout on the mound while the Lady 'Stang hitters rapped out 16 hits in three innings. Five different Bishop Brossart batters had two hits for the Lady 'Stangs who are still playing without cleanup hitter Maria Greis who will be back on Thursday. Tricia Kramer, Erica Riedeman, Gretchen Trumbo, Molly Williams and Shannon Kramer each had two hits. Shackelford, Trumbo and Williams each had three rbis each. Williams pounded a bases loaded triple while Shackelford and Emily Greis each doubled for Coach Tom Baynum's varsity team. Kramer and Trumbo also each scored three times for the Lady 'Stangs. Brossart scored first in the top of the first when Tricia Kramer reached on an error and then raced home on a long double by Shackelford. Brossart never trailed from that point. In the junior varsity game, called after two innings, Brossart won 16-1 as Mary Kay Reilly not only pitched the team to the win but also had two hits a base on balls and four rbis to lead her team. Jaime Reis and Amanda Lloyd each scored three times for Coach Ashley Heck's team. :jump:

Certainly a much more intense and serious level of play by Holy Cross. Thats a credit to their coaches and getting them ready to play. They look more like a team. In the past couple of years it has been more of a "club" atmosphere. Definitely improvement.

It was not a Rembrandt. Anytime a game features walks in double figures, errors in double figures and both teams only combine for 10 hits it's not going to be a game of beauty. Thus high school fast pitch softball. Today Bishop Brossart got enough of all the ingredients that counted in giving Coach Tom Baynum his first career win as the Lady 'Stangs opened the 2012 season with an easy 8-3 win over the Lady Indians of Holy Cross at Pendery Park. Bishop Brossart capitalized on 8 walks and 5 Holy Cross errors to build up an eventual 8-2 advantage in cusiing to the win. Freshmen Pitcher karlie Shakelford limited Holy Cross to just 5 hits over seven innings for her first win of the season, while junior centerfielder Tricia Kramer provided most of the spark going three for four, socring two runs, grabbing a steal and an rbi to lead Brossart. The Lady 'Stangs scored two in the first, one in the second, another in the fourth and fifth and then blew things wide open in the sixth plating three runs for the 8-2 lead. Senior secondbaseman Molly Williams also scored two runs, recorded a double, a base on balls and an rbi to help lead 1-0 BBHS> "It wasn't pretty," commented Coach Baynum "But thats the way it is sometimes in fast pitch softball. When a pitcher is wild and out of the strikezone a lot it's hard to get your offense going sometimes." Maybe the next game Picasso will work his magic. Still, it's a win. Holy Cross had traditionally given Brossart a tough game as witnessed by a 5-1 win by Brossart last year. The Lady 'Stangs would go on to finished 26-6 and go undefeated in the NKAC at 7-0. Today they stand 1-0 in the NKAC again. Up next will be Pendleton Co. in Falmouth Tuesday. Holy Cross' jv forfeited 1-0 to Brossart.

You can start with the right score It was 8-3. It is hard to hit a pitcher that wild who wlaks 8 and hits three batters. Can't judge anything on that game. Brossart is also missing their cleanup hitter who is their top rbi person.

We play one of the toughest schedules in Northern Kentucky. You need to look at some of the other schools schedules. We play Bracken Co., Harlan, Harrison Co., Grant Co., Simon Kenton, St. Henry, Dixie Heights, Ryle, Conner, Notre Dame and although they don't start in our pool we have Grant Co., Bourbon Co., Conner and others we may play in our tourney. Carroll County beat Grant Co. last week. Small schools are locked into the All "A" Region in which we will play Bracken again and Nicholas Co. plus we have to leave 5-6 games open for the All "A" State in the event we make it. In addition we now have four District Games (Campbell Co., Calvary, Silver Grove, and Scott) which we have to play and Division II of the NKAC we now have 8 games we have to play (St. Henry, Holmes, Beechwood, Highlands, NCC, Newport, Holy Cross and Lloyd). We are a small school with 360 students yet we play one of the best schedules. Better do some more research.

It was just a scrimmage but after today it may be Montgomery Co. 1, Bishop Brossart 2, Bourbon Co. 3 and Clark Co. 4th. The Bourbon Co. vs Montgomery Co. game on March 29 will be very interesting.

And of course that has never happened at a Pendleton game or most games at some point lol. Come on all of us would be lying to say we haven't had parents at games that go to far.
