Newport Catholic 17 Beechwood 0 (4 innings)

The Breds draw 12 walks and collect 11 hits and score 10 in the 4th to put this one away. So. Taylor Burkart gives up 4 hits and is supported by Fr. Kristen Schreiber (2-4 2rbi), Sr. Paige Immegart (2-3 2rbi) & Sr. Hannah Jones (3rbi).

JV remains perfect with a win also.

Big game tomorrow with the Brossart Mustangs at Pendrey.

Congrats to the Breds on the win. They better be ready to play tomorrow. Brossart will be looking to get back on track after taking a beating from Bracken County.

Good job NCC and good luck vs. a tough Brossart team. As I have said before some talent on Beechwood, but not the work ethic needed to go to the next level.

12 walks? Dreadful.

It was not pretty.

Beechwood had some kids missing spring break.

2 from what I heard-a catcher and a shortstop. Not a pitcher-so doesn't excuse the walks, and Beechwood had school yesterday-so please-there is a discipline problem with this team.

What ever problems Beechwood has I will take them, send that coach over to HC!

You wouldn't if you knew. Meeks and Kozerski may not know softball, but they know kids and the psychology of sports, and that trumps a former player no matter how talented they were everytime.

From what I have seen, at least HC has discipline, and I guarantee they win more games than Beechwood, even though in my opinion the Tigers have better players. HC has Moran, and I think their second baseman, center fielder and third baseman are good. Beechwood has 7 or 8 okay players, but it won't matter because there will be no chemistry and discipline. Now don't get me wrong-no chance of either team even winning one region game if either were fortunate enough to get there.

How can a team walk 12 batters in a game? You could pick up girls off a rec league team and not do that. The Tigers coach was a former pitcher. The lessons don't seem to be soaking in. Let me say I was not at the game, but I understand this was 1 Beechwood pitcher. I can't imagine another team in the region letting one pitcher walk 12 batters in a game. And mind you this was a 4 inning affair. The field umpire probably fell asleep along with the Tiger defense during this performance.

The first pitcher allowed 10 walks. 16 batters went to the plate in the 4th, 7 hits and 5 walks.

I respect your opinion but that being said I would pay to trade you coaches. I don't want to get to detailed about some of the problems HC is having but to say Meeks and Kozerski know kids (in which I mean girls) is just way off. They are good people so I don't want to bash them on a forum. HC has had about 5 girls quit early in the preseason and have several more that talk about it daily. They have had 2 coaches that love the game quit. They have had to cancel the JV team bc of these factors. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with a girl last night trying to convince her not to quit.

I can't speak for this year much but as far as last year Beechwood had 1 player that would have started for HC. HC had zero pitching last year (12 walks was a good game for us) and they beat Beechwood 3 times and that was their only 3 wins of the season.

SSC, I think your statement here supports my argument that coaching is NOT the problem in NKY. You believe that the Beechwood coach is hands down the best in the area and the best she can do with the talent she has is lose 17-0 to possibly the worst NCC team since they started playing fast pitch. High School coaches play with the hand they are dealt, summer coaches get to discard and draw. Whole lot easier job.
