You could say it went from “The Worst of Times to the Best of Times” as Bishop Brossrat roared back from the brink of elimination in pool play to the Championship of the First Priority Classic at Whitely County High School this weekend. The Lady 'Stangs were upset friday night in pool play by Grant County (15-6-1) 6-2 before rolling over Williamsburg 12-2 on Saturday morning. They then faced a good Harlan County team but left 14 runners on base and fell 3-2. Now they would have to wait their fate and see if they qualified for the Elimination Tourney or the Consolation Bracket. They made the Champions Bracket and were told they would have to face Grant County AGAIN. This time Brossart was ready beating the Lady Braves of Grant 9-8. In the semifinals they took on Simon Kenton (14-5) The Lady Pioneers had won 10 of their last 11 games and knocked off two of the tourney favorites. Once again though Brossart was not to be denied. They were in control the entire game beating Simon Kenton 5-1 and earning a berth in the Championship game. As fate would have it Harlan County upset tourney favorite Clay County 4-3 to give Brossart a second game of revenge and this time the Lady 'Stangs would not be denied lashing Harlan with an 18 hit attack and winning 15-7 to take the title. Junior Mary Kay Reilly won all 4 of Brossart's tournament games to finish 4-0 and walked only one of the 94 batters she faced in the tournament. Molly Williams was named the tournament “Golden Glove Player” for her superb defense. She also batted .524 in the event. The Tournament MVP though was Maria Greis, the hard hitting Brossart first baseman who slugged 13 hits out in 18 at bats (.723), scored 7 runs, knocked in 10, had 3 doubles, a triple and two sacrifices. You know you are going good when she finally struck out and the catcher missed the ball allowing her to reach base and eventually score. Bishop Brossart is now 15-5 on the season and Harlan County falls to 11-5 Maria Greis

Nah had a varsity game. Remember Brossart has all 7th and 8th graders on their freshmen team. No freshmen whatsoever. Five of Brossart's top eigthgraders also are playing junior varsity Riley Orth, Katelyn Seiter, Amanda Graus, Lauren Cookendorfer, and Amanda Lloyd. Our freshmen team is to develop the young talent. As far as varsity.........hmmm Let's see Brossart beat Scott 10-3 and left 9 runners on base. didn't have our top rbi and number 3 the whole game and I can't remember the Campbell Scott score. Oh yes, Scott 14-8 wasn't it?

The English poet, John Milton, in a poem once said, "They also serve who only stand and wait.” Junior Mary Kay Reilly has been in waiting for her first varsity win all season. She picked a big game to come thru in a superb way for Bishop Brossart on Thursday as they remained the only undefeated 37th District team (3-0 in seed games) after beating Scott 10-3 at Pendery Park. Scott has been playing much better and earlier this week had beat Campbell Co. 14-8 for their only win of the season. The win for Brossart was it's 18th win in the last 20 meetings against their District rival from Taylor Mill. Starting pitcher, Freshman Karlie Shackelford was injured on a play covering home plate, and Reilly was called upon to shut down Scott over the next 6 and two thirds innings. She allowed only two runs and 8 hits over that span for her first win as Brossart improves to 11-3 on the season while Scott falls to 1-9. The other good news is that Shackelford is fine and will be able to pitch Friday in the First Priority Classic in Whitley County. It was pretty much all Lady 'Stangs after Scott scored it's lone run on a wild pitch in the first. Brossart took the lead for good in the second when Gretchen Trumbo and Allie Anstead raced home on a groundout and a sacrifice fly to second base. Brossart started to turn it on in the third scoring three times. Maria Greis Singled and Molly Williams walked before Gretchen Trumbo struck out but reached first to load them after a passed ball. Anstead plated Greis with a sacrifice fly, Williams scored on an error by the shortstop and then Shannon Kremer plated Anstead with an infield hit. That made it 5-1 Brossart. The fifth inning proved to be the clinching inning by far as the green and white scored 5 times sending 11 batters to the mound against starter Audrey Williamson and reliever Amanda Bruemmer. Scott scattered two lone runs in the fifth and sixth. Ally Bradley and Williamson each had two hits for Scott. Erica Reideman had two hits including a two rbi single in the big 5th inning. Maria Greis and Gretchen Trumbo also tallied two hits each for the winning team. Tricia Kramer, Riedeman and Shannon Kremer all had 2 rbis each in the District win. :clap: Mary Kay Reilly:

There is a rule prohibiting it. So just contact the KHSAA. There was an official for a few years who worked only one schools games, his daughter played and he even donated part or all of the money back to tyhe school. It was reported and he now just drives their bus. hehe

The Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart traveled to Richmond, Kentucky on Tuesday evening to take on one of the 11th Region's top teams Madison Central and came away with a solid well played 7-6 win. The Lady 'Stangs improve to 10-3 while Madison Central falls to 9-5. Both teams scored in the first inning and then Brossart took a brief 2-1 lead after two before Central put together a nice 4 run inning in the third sending 8 hitters to the plate for a 5-2 advantage, but back came BBHS with a run in the fourth to cut it to 5-3 and then took the lead at 6-5 in the fifth inning with a three run outburst. In the seventh inning, with the bases loaded, catcher Erica Riedeman stole home on an attempted pick off of Molly Williams at first and suddenly Brossart was up 7-5. A tough Madison Central team though would not go away. In the bottom of the seventh they scored a run and loaded the bases with two outs bringing Winkler to the plate. She had reached three times in the game as the team's leadoff hitter and had tripled in her previous at bat. She turned on an inside pitch and sent a shot to right that first baseman Maria Greis snagged for the final out to preserve the Lady 'Stang win. Pitcher Karlie Shackelford spread 8 hits over seven innings and allowed only 2 earned runs. Erica Riedeman scored three times including the game winner. Riedeman, Greis and Tricia Kramer all had two hits to pace Brossart. In the junior varsity game, despite a long triple by Katelyn Seiter, Brossart fell 3-1 in a shortened game. Erica Riedeman Pic:

Congratulations to Coach Bretz and his team at the All "A" State

They did on 5 unearned runs. Congrats to Nicholas Co. they rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win 5-3. We made mistakes and they took advantage of it. Can't make those mistakes in a big game and hope to win. Thats what fast pitch is all about. Good luck to Barry and his team against Bracken on Tuesday.

The Bishop Brossart and Nicholas County game in the All "A" Classic will be played Monday at 5:00 at Pendery Park. Bracken County will play St. Patrick at 5 at Bracken County

Actually Campbell led 5-3. Brossart had runners on second and third with two outs. So the game wasn't completed.

You interject on almost every post I make and everytime someone says something negative you say i like that. Once again you keep negative comments about us away and I wont comment to you anymore. I think thats a fair deal.

The Mustangs of Bishop Brossart are once again Tenth Region All "A" Classic Baseball Champions winning over Deming 19-0 in the semifinals and Bracken County 8-3 in the Championship. Those games were played at Nicholas County High School Today. It was Brossart's 9th Consecutive All "A" Region Championship:thumb:

Carroll can play with anyone on a given day. Their secondbaseman is superb and they have two very nice hitters and better than average pitching.

One of our freshmen was on second and she thought the umpire called a foul ball and sort of stepped off second, Someone said foul and we heard that. The base umpire called her out when the pitcher grabbed the ball in the circle, which is a dumb thing (the circle). That should be a Title 9 violation they don't have that in baseball. We argued that she and everyone heard foul called and she didn't step off by accident etc. Anyway the home plate umpire got involved and gave the hook. Nothing more than that. Sometimes you have to stand up for the kids when you feel they were wronged.

I bet memyselfandi swallowed her cheetohs and fell off the gator when she got that call :eek: The AD has already reinstated him!

You sit out the level you are ejected. So it wont effect varsity. Now wonder who is posting here actually missed the call :thumb:

Former Bishop Brossart Coach Josh Grooms is there in the wings, but he just had their son born. So he may not want to do it. Timing sometimes is everything.
