  1. Would Wirth apply without telling his current employer?
  2. I thought BW's biggest mistake during his tenure was holding the Open House. I have a ton of respect for Bryson as we are both from the "old school", but I could never coach in today's environment. Parents are just crazy these days.
  3. Not been following closely Clyde. Is he on pace? Does he need deep post season run or can he get it done in regular season? I will see him tomorrow night. Looking forward.
  4. Where does BH stand for the points record?
  5. In many, many states right now there are on going debates and changes being implemented to "level" the playing field and bring more equality to HS competition. That is a fact. The open vs. closed was my idea. Not saying that's the perfect solution, but changes need to be made.
  6. I'm with you. I totally understand it's within the rules and I would never try to bring anybody "down" to my low level, however, it's about fair competition. Nothing more, nothing less. We need changes to the state's rules on athletic competitions. Why do other states have equitable classes in place?
  7. Call me old school or whatever you want, but I played sports in an era when there was a sense of community. Teammates grew up together and played on the same little league teams. There was very little "school jumping". Championships were built from within, not artificially manufactured. In this sad era of HS sports, it seems that the sense of community is lost/gone/missing. It's all about winning at all costs. Everyone wants the ring. I simply think that the playing field should be level for HS contests. That's it, very simple. Why should one school have a distinct advantage over another simply because they have open enrollment? Let them compete against other open enrollment schools. That levels things out. What's so wrong with that? I asked Dale Mueller one time.......Does it give your school an advantage having open enrollment? Without blinking, he said, ABSOLUTELY! No sour grapes here, just believe in level weights, just like wrestling.
  8. This is from the Shelby County District with (2) High Schools: Collins and Shelby County ASSIGNED DISTRICT All pupils shall be assigned by attendance areas and will attend the school designated to serve their area of residence. Each attendance area will be marked on a map in the central administration office. The Board may revise attendance areas from time to time to attain maximum utilization of school facilities. Educational guardianships, Powers of Attorney, Out-of-Attendance Area Waivers and similar documents signed by a parent attempting to establish residency of a student in a geographic attendance zone or in a school other than their home school shall not in and of themselves serve to establish residency for extracurricular activities. Approval for extracurricular activities in theses cases may be granted by the Superintendent/designee. IF FAMILIES MOVE If a family moves from one attendance area to another within the school system during the school year, the pupil may continue in the school in which s/he was last enrolled provided no hardships are created and approval has been granted by the Principals and the Director of Pupil Personnel. Transportation arrangements shall be made by the parents or guardian at no expense to the Board. Upon moving, if a pupil withdraws, enrolls, and attends school in the new attendance area, s/he will not be permitted to re enroll or attend the school previously attended unless the parents or guardians re establish residence in that attendance area.
  9. That 7th grade declaration rule would be good for high school sports and stop all of the garbage. Trust me, alot of "garbage" goes on in high school athletics. The KHSAA also needs to start getting serious about transfer enforcement, because right now it's a joke!
  10. Or why not just separate them? Open category and Closed category. Just not that simple when dealing with public school systems. Many issues to deal with and you act like it would be a simple thing to implement. Your school has an advantage, great, keep it. Just don't sit there and pound your chest when you put a beat down on a school with closed borders and say "well it's there own damn fault, they should have open enrollment". Not that simple.
  11. TAC, who said anything about exclusion? Would just like to see schools put in "categories" where the playing field is leveled. Two categories; one with open enrollment, one with closed. Pretty simple. Everyone knows open has a distinct advantage over closed. Said advantages should not exist. Separate them.
  12. Did A. Way play in this game?
  13. Measurements were not accurate at this event. Everyone was coming up about .75 short.
  14. It's truly a blessing for Drew to be taking part in this once in a lifetime experience. The ArmyBowl folks are doing a great job making this a very special event for these boys. The red carpet has been rolled out. The game will be broadcast Saturday on NBC at 1:00 pm prior to the NFL Wildcard Playoff game.
  15. I believe it will be announced next weekend.
