Strength Of Damian Harris' Commitment To Michigan?

Featured Replies

With Michigan struggling this year (they only have 3 losses on the season, but needed 3OT's to beat a 4-5 Northwestern squad), is there any chance Damian Harris' commit is wavering at all?

A lot of schools are going to test that commitment.

Any in particular? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that maybe tOSU is one, and that Kentucky and Louisville are two others who'll throw out some feelers.

Does Harris have any connection to Michigan like family there, having lived there, etc.???

What is Stoops going to say to Harris? "You don't want to go to Michigan, that team lost three games. You may not have a chance at a national championship at Michigan, you should come to Kentucky."

Stoops can probably be honest with him and tell him he'll be coaching him all four years he's at UK, while I'm not sure Michigan can say the same. If Stoops leaves from Kentucky during Harris' time there, it's because he's overachieved and Harris is likely a star. Not really thinking you can say the same for Michigan.

Also, if he's an all-purpose back, the chance to rack up big numbers will be there in the Air Raid.

Knowing what I know, he is 99.9% to Michigan no matter what. The only situation that I see could change this would be if Nick Saban comes calling. You can write this down as fact, because I am very close to friends of the Harris family.

What is the connection with Michigan?

Did he grow up there? Has family there? Grew up a big Michigan fan for some reason?

Just curious more than anything, because I don't see the connect.

FWIW, one of my best friends in law school's older brother did Med School at Michigan and was a sideline doc/trainer, so he's happy to hear about the Harris commit.

He has really no family ties there, that I honestly know of. I do know that he and his mom have been UM fans since he was a little kid. Mike Hart was his favorite running back growing up and that is where it all started. He has a good relationship with Coach Hoke and the running backs coach at UM.

Makes sense. I just didn't know if it was a situation like Eastern TE Jon Davis committing to Illinois because he'd lived there longer than he had Kentucky. Michigan is on tv quite a bit and I know people who are for them just out of spite for Ohio State.

I hope Coach Saban does come calling, I would love to see him play for the Tide!

I heard today that he no longer lists himself as a Michigan commit on his Twitter account.

That is correct and his Bio is all about football...doesn't list his commitment to Michigan...

Over the years UK has had some very good running backs from Kentucky high schools (Collins, Homer. Adams, et al.). But not recently IMO. Who has been the last superior RB for the Cats? I think the only RB currently in the NFL is Alphonso Smith (played at Waggener HS and didn't exactly light it up at UK). Maybe this kid can do it.
