as for supposedly 35 guy's in the 9th region throwing high 80's to low 90's.....lol!!! if that was true the 9th would be crawling with mlb and D-1 college scouts. i think a lot of people don't realize how hard you have to throw a ball to get to 90 mph. REALLY HARD!!!

radar guns at ballparks are generally not accurate. usually off by 5-6 mph...on the high side.teams might calibrate them once a month. just what i've been told by mlb and college scouts. you want a accurate reading,use a jugs gun from a mlb,or college team.

lol!!!! bluetip and cooperstown are so right about mph,and speed times of players.be it coming from players,coaches and.......PARENTS!!!! as someone who has been coaching h.s. baseball for well over ten years,it amazes me how much importance is put on mph and speed. numbers!!!! that's all they are. i tell my guy's "you don't have to throw hard to get people out". give me a kid that can play the game.... a "ball player",any day,and i will usually beat you. just my thoughts. good luck to all the teams this year.

played ball with doug in the old holy name league.1984-88. one of the best guy's i ever played with...on,and off the field. [and i played for 17 years.i have been around the block a little..lol!!!] last year was his first year coaching high school. i only know what i here...but.... my wife works with his,so i'd say she's a pretty good source. who ever gets the job will be getting a great facility. no doubt!!! good luck to whoever gets the job.

I have heard Doug Peddicord was up for the job. He was their pitching coach last year. I'm sure there are others with there name in the pool. Has anybody heard more about the situation?

After reading all this stuff from the last two days,all I can say is....what goes around.......comes around!!!! I've been a coach in the 10th region for 13 years,and if the regional tournament would have been played at Harrison County.....they probably get that call,and win the region. A little something called "home cooking", that I've seen at Harrison County. Not complaining,just the way it happens sometimes on their field. It is.....what it is!!! So Harrison fans complaining about this is kind of funny. I understand their passion.It is a great program!!! Coach Whitaker is a great coach,no doubt. First class program!!!!! But after all the complaining,and bitching,I have one question? Why wasn't Jared Martin pitching?
