  1. Koufax was born and raised in Brooklyn, and Long island n.y. Just played college at u.c. fyi
  2. As I said in my original post ..."I don't know any coaches that get paid that much" emphasis on I... I was just looking for some enlightenment. There are too many people on here that embellish. That's all!!! Just telling someone that YOU know of a lot of coaches making that money , is not a viable option for me, but hearing from other people, I can believe it. I am in only one part of the state .Different pay schedules for different schools, and sports ,I understand.I have just not seen it in my area. So I stand corrected. Thanks for the input gentlemen.
  3. I've been a head coach at a program for a few years. Been around High School coaching for 20 years.I don't know of any head coach that makes $8,000 to coach a sport .just saying.
  4. Simple. One less guy on the court to make a bad call!!!
  5. I have been for going back to two refs for at least the last 10 years. I don't really care about the high school game, but college i think so. In my opinion, a lot of these refs have gotten into the habit of anticipating calls, instead of calling what you see. You have refs making calls from mid court,on plays under the basket, where a lot of times their vision is obstructed ,and they are 50 feet away from the play. The ref under the basket calls nothing!!! Go figure. I'm not going to get into a urinating contest with people on here. There are pros and cons to every argument. But what usually happens with three refs, in a lot of games ,is it becomes a foul calling fest.Which turns into a free throw shooting contest. Don't believe people pay money to watch refs call games,OR to watch players shoot free throws, with ten minutes left in a game. All the fouls also upsets the flow of the game. Going to two refs...yeah,they are going to miss some calls, but it happens in every sport ,at every level. It's part of the game. Deal with it!!! They played with two refs for a long time. It didn't seem to be a big deal back in the day. SOMETIMES,...change is not good!!! Just my thoughts. I do agree,as a high school coach of another sport,parents/fans need to get a grip!!! At least some of them do. It's just the way it is for now.Things always seem to come full circle eventually. Good luck to all the basketball teams.
  6. "When i woke up this morning,i was feeling pretty dangerous" .....Baker Mayfield -2018 That's the attitude that's been missing for a long time in Cleveland. It should be interesting.
  7. A lot of it was not his fault, talking about staying healthy, but his whole attitude is a problem with me. And I'm going to speak only for myself. If other people feel different, i understand. I met him in Chattanooga when he was coming through the system. My first impression after a brief chat was, "arrogant person"!!! Just my opinion. I figured,he's still young. He'll grow up mentally. Well, that was around 12 years ago. I don't think much has changed. You would think that someone who has been through a few tough times ,would develop a little humility . Just his attitude kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I may be the only one who feels like that, but i doubt it.You can be arrogant.....if your good!!! Anyway,i wish him luck...where ever he ends up. I think it's good to move on,for both Homer, and the reds. About 7 weeks till spring training. GO REDS!!!
  8. My wife? But since it's already been used, and my wife won't read this,I'll say ....my girlfriend!!!
  9. Congrats coach on a great career. Enjoy your retirement !!!
  10. Class act!!!! r.i.p. coach. You will be missed.
  11. prepsfan92 pretty much nailed it. Good game!!! Desperation bunt? ...lol!!! Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.
  12. Again.... I'm not talkin about the players!!!! as I said ,I don't blame them for you getting what they can get. I'm talking about management!!!# it's just the way franchises do business now. Just my humble opinion. ....lol!
  13. Ok,I'll be the one to urinate on this deal. I like Suarez. if I'm him,I'm jumping at the deal. BUT.......lol, here it comes guy's. I'm not crazy about the deal strictly on the years. I guess the reds haven't learned anything from the Homer Bailey deal. And yes,i realize Bailey is a pitcher, but .....to me,locking guy's up for anything more than three to four years is nuts!!!! Too many things can happen. He could tank, get injured,as other people have stated here, you have options coming up also. As i said,i like Suarez, but i get tired of teams dishing out long term deals, for short term success. the Jerry Narron deal comes to mine. i think they may still be paying Griffey jr.. if it's just three or four years,i can see it. i hope it works out. I'm hoping management has a plan, and knows what their doing, but i don't have a lot of faith at this point. I will give the reds the benefit of the doubt though. What the hell,it's not my money!!!...lol!!! Can't wait for opening day. "PLAY BALL BOYS" !!!!
  14. Best "fro" ever!!! Slightly better than Dr. J's ABA days. IMHO...lol! Solid baseball player. R.I.P. Oscar!
  15. I think it's just the way it is. I try to explain to the younger fans...[i'll be 58 in march,so guess I'm getting old..lol!!] that you can't forget where you come from,so try to learn a little history. Some get it,some don't. But cutting my teeth on late "60's" ,early "70's" n.f.l.,i heard stories of Norm Ban Brocklin,Don Hudson, Otto Graham ,Chuck Bednarik,Frank Gifford, marion motley, and of course, jim brown.I was told how great these guy's were, and how many championships they were all involved in. To me,you have to include the whole history,so i haven't forgot about the old time teams. But the longer a league is around, the more history is added on to it. It's our job to at least try to pass it on.Even if the only reason a lot of younger fans follow football is for fantasy. Keep fighting the good fight fellas!!! But,i agree. All the championships should be counted
  16. btw, Can't do nothing about ownership,so why even talk about it? That horse has had the holy crap beat out of him,to the point we need to get another horse!!! lets spare the horse gentlemen.
  17. Hey!!!! Let's not forget Ron Oester....also,Sean Casey,Eric Davis,Billy Hatcher,Doug Flynn,Joe Morgan,Ken Griffey Sr....AND jr.!!!! Johnny Bench,Ray Knight,Davey Concepcion,Angel Bravo,Mike Lum,Ted Uhlander,Richie Schienblum,Terry Crowley,Art Shamskey,Don Gullett,Tom Seaver,Jim Maloney,Santo Acala,Tom Carroll,CLAY Carroll,Jimmy Stewart...AND ...of course PETE ROSE!!! bring him back! I think we have enough ex-reds in this group to fine a manager. Obviously I'm being sarcastic with this list, but my main point ......why does it have to be a ex red? and .... how are you going to feel if he flops, and they fire him after a few years? could happen. I say, look at everyone available, including reds, then make your choice.Just seems like common sense to me,but what do i know...lol!!
