WOW, that is sad for the Owen teams...wonder why the Owen Cheerleaders and Band don't support the Lady Rebels and Rebels in their tournament games? That's almost unbelievable?

I didn't see all the games, but points are not all that one must look at to determine an MVP. One must look at rebounds, defense, steals, assists, turnovers, blocks - the total game. Too many times fans only look at points to evaluate who a "good" player is. There is obviously more to being an all around good player than just scoring points.

Any information on the Henry versus gallatin game today?

score is correct. It was a fun game to watch. Congrats to the Rebels. Awsome game by freshman Zack Ripey. Owen is a fun team to watch. Everyone talks about the bigs,but Owen can run the fast break as well.

No excuses Henry played a good game. I do not understand why you can not celebrate the victory without calling out a player by name. I am a close friend to the Shelton family. I admire this kid a great deal. No one including me knows what this kid in enduring to play his senior year.

The Gallatin county aggressive play will wear down the panthers. I am looking for a tight first half with the wildcats pulling away and winning by 12.

I did not intend for this thread to become a debate on who is better Gayheart or Devine. They are both outstanding players. When I posted this thread I just wanted to share with the other members of BGP"s that I had the pleasure Friday night of watching one of the best over all games by a player that I have seen in several years. I saw Gayheart play a few times last year, and was impressed, I was even more impressed Friday. Ms Gayheart you had an outstanding game. The wonderful think about sports is you get the chance to prove yourself everytime you hit the court. Keep working Ms. Gayheart the better player must work harder than anyone else.

After watching the Owen Co. - Carroll Co. game last night, I understand the 8th region player rankings. Gayheart played an outstanding floor game scoring 16 points, dishing out several assists, and getting her whole team involved. But I was most impressed with her tenacity on defense. I would be interested in knowing how many steals and loose balls she came up with. If she continues to work, it will be interesting to see where she ends up.

I am sorry I missed it. I did catch the Lady Panthers last night.

BIG game, I hope it's on ESPN. If not, I will have to wait and let my friends tell me how it turns out. It's hard for me to travel that far during the week. Often times the best team travels to Warsaw and does not and win. They have best home court advantage in the 8th Region. I look for Williams and Osborn to have good games.

I find it interesting that the team with the dominate player gets beat by 16 points.

I enjoy watching a game with strong inside play. I do not like watching a game when one team packs in a 2/3 zone, hoping for a poor outside shooting night. I think Carroll will try the Willaimstown and Trimble game plan. I reviewed the Owen County and Williamstown thread. Owen shot extremly poorly. I just do not want to drive 60 miles hoping Owen does not shoot like they did at Trimble.

I need to learn not to believe everything I read. I thought the Panthers had the size to take on the bigs for Owen. I looked up the Owen roster. I think i will just stay in Lexington.

I will enjoy watching the Carroll County bigs push the little Owen County boys around. I almost feel sorry for the little guys.

Looking forward to seeing GRC play. They do have some talent, now let's see if it can all come together and get some additional synergy from all of those guys. Assuming they all stay healthy, it should be fun to watch. Let the games begin! :popcorn::taz::jump::ylsuper:

I say play the best players, no matter the grade. It helps both the team and the player, I do not know a coach that does not want to put the best 5 players on the court.

Believe it...i have heard it. It is hard to imagine, but it occurs with some coaches. Thank goodness it is a very small minority, or at least i hope so. I understand the physical hard play you speak of...that's part of the game. No problem with that, if you suit up, expect the physical play. I have seen players end games with significant scratches and cuts on the hands, wrists and arms from dirty play and bruises in the back from being pushed and hit in the back with the opposing players fist all through the game (mainly with the inside the paint type players - the 4 and 5 positions). Not just physical play, but a hard forceful fist in the back. you may not agree, but to me, that is dirty play. I've seen the purposeful undercuts and others purposely trip or do other dirty play. Probably most of this is the players "idea", and the officials should address this appropriately. Ask the players, they can tell you very quickly who the dirty players are within their region...can probably tell you who the coaches are that make these types of comments. I've heard it at the Middle School level also, which is really distrubing. Teaching that type of play at that age - it's not good nor appropriate.:cry:
