  1. My only point is that if you have a dominant pitcher on the mound there are a lot less outs that a team has to make plays on because of strikeouts. If Riddle strikes out 2 batters in the first you only have one out to make. There are tons of factors that change when you have an ace type pitcher on the mound. Which was the main factor for Franklin County. They throw their ace and completely shut down Western Hills.
  2. Of course it matters who pitched. Teams play with much more confidence whent the ace is on the mound. There would have been more strikeouts, the balls aren't hit as hard, etc. Not saying that this would gaurantee a victory but I would be confident to say that a 10 spot would not have been put up in the first.
  3. I know that the KHSAA website shows on Owen County's schedule that it is Ballard Memorial but it is in fact Louisville Ballard. It is just a mistake on the scoreboard.
  4. I am suprised that Riddle did not throw. Western Hills needs desperately to get a win against Franklin County to get that monkey off their back. In order for them to go on and have any chance at being an 11th region contender they must get the confidence gained from beating their rival.
  5. Will the Rebels have enough pitching to get them through the next 6 days? Williamstown - today #5 Tates Creek - Friday #18(tie) Ballard and #18(tie) Dunbar - Saturday Henry County (District Seed Game) - Monday #12 Franklin County - Tuesday :idunno::idunno::idunno::idunno::idunno::idunno:
  6. Big win for DeSales. Is Ballard down or is DeSales very good this year?
  7. High school kids tend to lose their focus rather easily. It is easy to stay focused against a marquee program.
  8. Big win for the Rebels. Hopefully they can get on a roll heading into a very tough weekend vs. Tates Creek, Ballard, and Dunbar.
  9. Talk about righting the ship in a hurry!!!! This has been a huge week for the Defenders.

  11. I will take the Flyers in this one. Should be a good game between two good teams.
  12. So what you all are saying is that you have absolutely no idea about the details of this particular game.
  13. I am really not sure why you are holding onto this so hard. You are correct in what you stated about that they would not be THE state champion. They are however THE All A State Champion. If the tournament is made up of every single A team in the state how could you call them anything but the All A State Champion? You are acting as if these kids and coaches that win the All A walk around showing there rings or telling stories that they were the winners of the Sweet Sixteen. Obviously this is not happening. We all know that Shelby Valley is the 2008-2009 All A State Champion and that they were not good enough to win the Sweet Sixteen. Holmes was good enough to win the Sweet Sixteen and are THE state champion. Do you really think any who follows Kentucky high school basketball is confused by these facts? We all know the difference.
  14. The venom is not manufactured. It is there in your 40, and counting, posts on this subject. Your posts read like a person who makes a disparaging comment to someone and then adds the line "no offense" at the end. No one has made a single post that suggests that the All A winner is THE state championship winner or even suggested that they are the best team in the state but you continue to :deadhorse: over the fact that it is not a KHSAA sanctioned event. We all know that!!!!! Although it is not sanctioned by the KHSAA all the schools that compete must be a member of the KHSAA and they play by all the rules governed by the KHSAA and it is set up exactly like the KHSAA post season event minus the district round. The part that you are refusing to see is that since every school that is classified as an A school in basketball has the opportunity to compete it is a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. It is simply not the KHSAA sanctioned All A State Championship. So in the future just make your comments and leave out the "no offense" part and move on.
  15. What is the point of all this rambling back and forth? Obviously the All A tournament is not THE state championship but it is set up exactly like the state championship minus the district level where all of the A schools compete at the regional level and then go to Richmond and compete for the title. The winner of this tournament has made an incredible accomplishment that should not be dimished by who sanctioned the tournament. I don't think the coaches and players of the winning team leave Richmond thinking they are the best team in the state of Kentucky. They have the opportunity to prove that later in the year. So all this back and forth and all of this venom coming from PepRock is pretty much pointless.
  16. Kelly Combs - Richmond - Union College
  17. It will definitely be an interesting next couple of weeks but in the end the roster will be shaped into what Coach Cal deems as the best roster to run his system. The program will take several hits in the local papers (Herald Leader) I'm sure but it will not even hit the radar with the national media outlets except for all the positive attention it will garner when UK will have a top 5 recruiting class. Then next fall and winter all will be forgotten when UK wins 25+ games and are finally playing an exciting brand of basketball again.
  18. Adding Western Hills into the mix of contenders makes the 11th region hands down the toughest region in the state this year.
  19. Good win for the Rebels. Looks like Fairdale is in for a long season.
  20. Wrong. His oldest daughter will be going to Wake Forest. His other daughter will be a sophomore at UK and his son is 12 or 13.
  21. Looks like the Creek has got their hitting sticks out early this year. This could be a special year for Coach Fucci and the Creekers.
  22. We seem to be counting on this great BIG new incoming freshmen class. Has anyone stopped to think how in the world UK can make that work. Jared Carter is the lone senior so several guys are either going to be shown the door or moved to some type of academic scholarship (and even that has limitations as well) or asked to pay their way and walk-on. So how is it going to work? Who are you going to ask to leave?
  23. The official with the same angle as the camera, that was blocked out by Meeks getting chucked by a Creighton defender as he was trying to get to the shooter, called it a two but the official on the other side called it a 3. I guess they just decided that he had the better angle since the replay showed that he was behind the line before Meeks obscured the view.
  24. Congrats to the Panthers and congrats to Coach Jones in his return to the diamond.
  25. This sounds like it was a good one. Can anyone gives us a recap?
