Great to sit outside and watch a game. Hard to keep score for a scrimmage, but I believe it was 11-7 Beechwood after 11 innings. Rom pitched 2 scoreless. Castleman had a HR.

Coach Gray Taking advantage of the new Beechwood Digs

Agreed. Wilder was arguably the best CF in nky. Big loss. He was also a top 3 or 4 pitcher. -
Coach Gray Taking advantage of the new Beechwood Digs
Basement Barbers replied to Geek61's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Couldn't agree more on your comments about Coach Gray. The new resources are top notch. Along with the turf and lights, next to the home dugout, they are about 40% into building a good size auxiliary building that the baseball team can work out in... along with other sports. The next few years will be exciting, but if you missed that last few years you missed some exciting baseball. The Tigers have won 2 All 'A' Championships in the last 4 years. For a 1a school, that should be your first goal. The teams have been loaded and they may have underachieved a bit. However, they were very fun to watch. We need to look into piping dirt and grass smell in. Love that smell ! -
I could not hold it any longer. With tryouts just 1 week away, let's do this. As far as you know, I have nailed the top 10 the last 3 years with Highlands making the run each of those years. This could be arguably one of the best pitching staffs ever for Highlands or any team for that matter, but I see a change a brewing. 1. Beechwood: '17 Record (28-10), Key losses (Huseman). The Tigers will have good pitching... not great, but good. They will have a great offense and very fast. The Tigers add a new head coach (Kevin Gray) and new coaching staff. Against great pitching in the past the Tigers did not manufacture runs, I think they will this year. This is why I think they win versus Highlands in the finals. 2. Highlands: '17 Record (26-13), Key Losses (Rust, Doty). Don't let Highlands' Record fool you. Each year, 15 games in, everyone wonders whats wrong with the Birds. Nothing. Nobody gets a squad to peak at the exact moment he needs them to better than Coach Baioni. Highlands is LOADED in the bullpen, but they will again struggle to cross the plate. Rust was the heart and soul of the Birds and Doty was the Tiger Killer.... Not their year in '18. 3. Covington Catholic: '17 Record (27-8), Key Losses (France, Eckerle). Colonels will be loaded from top to bottom. Like BW they will be a very good offensive team, but are just good at pitching. The outfield will be stellar and hard to crack the lineup. Loss of France is tremendous. 4. Cooper: '17 Record (18-12). On paper the Jags will have the 2nd best pitching staff. If they can find a way to consistently score runs this could be a good year. The Senior class is stellar. 5. St. Henry: 17' Record (20-14). One of the best pure hitting teams in Northern Kentucky. Fielding and pitching needs to get better. 6. Conner: 17' Record (27-10). Key Losses (Craddock). You never know what you are gonna get out of the Cougar team. They have all of the components of a Region winner. Could they make a run? 7. Newport Central Catholic 8. Ryle 9. Dixie 10. Holy Cross All in fun.

Reduce the number of classifications?

Agree 100%. Then the first couple rounds of the playoffs would be watchable. -
Top 10 Teams in the 9th
Basement Barbers replied to HSBballfan24's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Good list. Can't wait for the 1st Cooper/Cov Cath matchup. -
Well I guess it is the company you keep. I don't know anyone at Beechwood that would make such comments. I know several, not all and probably none of '6' you talked to. I should have said, I doubt this was said. My apology. Don't start every paragraph with, "I am pretty..." We get it, you are pretty.

Bands do not play at baseball games and players can wait to enter the box if music is still playing. Football teams have bands... these bands are made up of kids... They make mistakes. Beechwood didn't lose the game because they weren't able to watch Cov Cath warm up, just like Cov Cath didn't lose because some kids' piccalo went past the snap.

Wow. I was one that thought we had a chance. Cov Cath looks very impressive at every position.... special team. Bowling green has their hands full come December. -
1A #1 Beechwood at 2A #10 Somerset
Basement Barbers replied to Bac2369's topic in KY Football (High School)
Have to agree. On a turf field I think BW runs away. On a rainy night and a muddy track.... could be a different story. I still think BW wins, but only by 10-14 pts. Probably going to see a healthy dose of Derry running inside the tackles. -
Logan Castleman (Beechwood 2019)
Basement Barbers replied to katbird's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Well deserved! Good kid. Everyone at Beechwood is very proud of him. -
I understand your reasoning, but I believe that going for 2 in that situation is kin to taking a base while up 15 or shooting a 3 when you are up 40. I think Eddie did not want to rub their noses in it. The better question is, if you are up so many points, why is AJ out there? I hear that they are having trouble finding a backup... no better place than this situation to give a series or two to each of the back up candidates.

Ryle's underclass teams have not been that strong the last few years and Cov Cath is much better at the specialties.... I will go Cov Cath 38 Ryle 13 -
Open Job: Beechwood

Agree to disagree. Being a resident of Fort Mitchell gives you the right to a great education.... Where you live does not guarantee you a spot on your High School Team.
