  1. I was told that it was 280 to the base of the wall and about 70 feet tall.
  2. Right field is really short.... maybe 290-300. Center and left are normal.
  3. I saw a special on this topic and was very surprised at the high percentage of errors made by the plate umpire. If memory serves, it was nearly 20 percent of the calls were incorrect.
  4. Hopefully Aviator sets up the webpage jv and freshmen tournament again this year.
  5. Ballard has 3 of the top 4 home run hitters in the state. Louisville will never see Adell. I heard he was projected in the top 15 the MLB draft. Big money.
  6. Trusty (BW) and Craddock © both go the distance. Huseman with a huge 3 RBI double and difference in the game. Exciting game to watch.
  7. Lol. I did. Long drive home. Might have been his first start. He's been used as a closer all year.
  8. Nick Jackson went 6 for the Tigers. Wilder continues to kill it, going 3-4. Doverspike with a 2 run HR. Schlinger closes out the 7th. Both teams hit well.
  9. I did misunderstand. So when you say bracket is drawn prior to pool play, it's pool a winner v pool d winner. They do not draw individual teams prior to pool play. Sorry.
  10. So pool play games are meaningless? I could understand if there was tv scheduling, but there is not. Why wouldn't teams send in the 'b' team kids for pool play and then send in the real deal on bracket play? .... and why are the facilities charging an arm and a leg for meaningless games? lol. Sounds like paying full price for a Bengals scrimmage.
  11. Help me out... Why would Indy Heat, 3-0 in pool play, be playing KY Royals, also 3-0 in pool play, in the first round? Looks like Royals even played a 'play in' game. Very odd.
  12. Burch pitched a complete game for the Tigers. Wilder 2-3 and Huseman 2-3. Tigers move to 20-6. BW needed this game. They hadn't scored a run in two games and started poorly in this one.
  13. Hartig (CC) with a CG 4 hit shutout. Schlinger (BW) also went the distance and deserved a better fate. The only difference in the game was controversial play at the plate. Runner tagged on a fly ball to right. Throw beats runner at the plate by 6 feet and the runner, IMO, runs way out of base line to avoid tag and ump gives it to him.... AND he left early. lol. Good game to watch.
  14. You're right. I messed up. They can still win district.
  15. True. I guess that I omitted Ryle because of their districts. Dixie won their district so St. Henry will face a 1 seed. Your're right... that would be a tough one. I'd rather face Dixie. lol. When does Ryle, Conner and Cooper flip the coin for district seeding?
  16. IMO HHS does not have the firepower at the plate, nor speed. If they get in a shoot out with any team that I listed, they would lose. If the pitching shuts down a good team, then I believe they can plate a run or two to win. As far as sandbagging...this is very dangerous. Most every team, even the 2 seeds in the regional, has at least one pitcher that can shut a team down. I've seen teams nearly every year hold off on pitching their ace only to have him come into a losing game and try and salvage the loss. Oddly enough, pitching gets worse the further you get. That is why I believe if Cov Cath or BW can withstand the 1st couple rounds they would be favored in a final.
  17. Now that the teams start their home stretch.... I made a shuffle. I didn't have Conner doing as good as they are. I knew Highlands would start slow and begin peaking near the end. 1. Conner (do not want them in the first round of the region. after that, beatable) 2. Highlands (Pitchers may need to pitch no hitters or 1-2 hitters, but very doable. Beatable after 2nd round in regional) 3. Beechwood (Well balanced. Very scrappy team) I'm a homer. 4. Cov Cath (Their pieces are starting to fit. They will be dangerous) 5. Cooper (Cooper desperately needs a turning point in the season. If they start to gel they will be fine. Whichever team, Cov Cath or Beechwood, that can avoid Conner in the first round (Craddock) or HHS in the first two rounds (Doty and Rom) then I would pick one of them to win the region. If not, I'll take Bluebirds again.
  18. 2 hours 10 minutes. All the strikeouts balanced it out. lol
  19. Correction: HHS had 4 hits and BW walked 14. According to our book keeping all 6 runs were earned. Doty walked 5 and struck out 14.
  20. That is Jairus Wilder, a junior. He is having a great season. Had a little trouble finding his spots yesterday, but still we got 120 out of him (pitch limit). Gutsy kid.
  21. Yes. In fact they had 8-9 LOB in the first 5 innings and didn't plate a run. Also, in that time frame they had maybe 1 or 2 hits. So, it's hard to say Beechwood beat Beechwood when Doty pitches a 1 hitter. Won't know until the box score comes out but I think HHS only had maybe 3 hits.... and of the 6 runs, maybe 1 earned. This is a good omen for BW though. Last year we run ruled Doty a few weeks before the region and he shut us out in the region. Hopefully the opposite this year. lol.
  22. Great outing by Doty. Birds are hitting stride as they do every year about this time. Beechwood may have walked 12-13. Hard to win with that many freebies.
