Corbin tries to bounce back today against Middlesboro. I'm sure a different Middlesboro team will be ready to play than the one we saw last Thursday and I bet Pittman is ready to go again. Smith or Vorbeck will be ready to go for Corbin. If both teams play to their capabilities, I see Middlesboro edging out Corbin 6-4.

Well, that still doesn't change the fact that they really aren't state contenders. However, I did hear that Bell County couldn't do anything at all. Probably the worst case scenario for every facet, not throwing strikes, not catching the ball, not making the throws, and not hitting the ball.

I never said that it was his best. Obviously he wasn't. Injury or not, if he doesn't tell the coach that he's hurting and stays in and walks 4 people in one inning, then it is his fault.

Just got back from the game. Middlesboro got out to a 4-0 start in the first but SL scored 6 in the top of the 2nd. The Cards chased Pittman off the mound early and Middlesboro brought in the Ferguson kid who struggled for most of the rest of the game. SL pitched staff for this game. Middlesboro made 9 errors. Yes you read that correctly. I will say this for them, they probably played as bad as they could possibly play and they still hung in there. They hit the ball pretty well and played average on spurts but for the most part, they were pretty bad tonight. I'm not looking past them though. Who knows what the score may have been had they not made as many errors seeing as though they hit our pitchers just as well. Good game for both and SL continues its winning ways.

Coach just told us that we will be going to Middlesboro to play tonight because their field was covered by a tarp this past weekend. The game will start at 5:30 and I think it is varsity only. I don't know who we are pitching but both teams have everyone rested up. It should be a good game. Obviously, I'll take SL by a score of 5-2.

Wow, good get for the Railsplitters. Pittman will only get better.

I didn't say the umpire played favorites. I'm saying I heard they did a very poor job and that Bell County was affected more negatively than Whitley. And like I said in another thread, Whitley has lost 8 games. That's not too good at this point in the season. Looks like Ledington is doing okay--not good and especially not great.

How did he look? Did he pitch all 7?

Heard Bell County blew a lot of opportunities with the bases loaded about 3 different times. Also heard officiating was dreadful.

I'm going to stick with the 13th region on this one and go with Middlesboro to take the title.

Southeast_bell...is that Hunter Adams in your avator? What kind of year is he having on the baseball team?

I don't know anything about Johnson but I did check the KHSBCA website and Powell is a member of the Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 2000. http://www.khsbca.com/hofmembers_all.php I also see that his teams have been to the Final Four 4 times during his tenure. His last two times were in 1999 and 2002. Middlesboro has won 10 of last 11. I see no clear cut favority by any means. Southeast_bell...I'm surprised that someone from that area would call Middlesbiri the definite underdog.

Actually I just read where Greer pitched all 7 innings on Monday so he can't pitch today. I think Overbay pitched for Bell on Tuesday as well. This will be a very interesting matchup. One of the most intriguing story lines of the season thus far.

So here is the game that many have been waiting on. John Smith gets to match up with his former Colonels and Ledington gets to take on the Bobcats. I don't know who is pitching but if Greer pitches, this game is over in a hurry.

But in the case of that Middlesboro vs. Pineville game mentioned earlier, they are in the same class (in football anyway).

Wow. I'm surprised this was so close. I'm guessing either Bell threw off or Harlan Co. threw that 8th grade 15 year old and he did very well.

They have just as good a chance as everyone else. I wouldn't say VERY GOOD by any means.

Now...is there any doubt that SL through off yesterday? See, people that don't know the game, don't really catch onto that kind of stuff. They think they if they win, they are better, regardless of who the opposing team actually pitched against them. WC got embarrassed tonight. Enough said.

WC is 12-8. That's 8 losses. Bell has lost 3. SL has lost 3. Clay has lost 2. Middlesboro has lost 3. That is the difference between them and the top.

They are playing very well right now. However, let's not forget that they are still 12-8. Their body of work isn't too impressive. Bell County hasn't lost a step without him. So there goes that argument.

I put Whitley in there. They are on the outer edge though. I mean they have lost 8 games, just like Corbin. And furthermore, they split with Corbin. In my opinion, the two teams are very even. I just don't think they are at the very top. I did however say they were still a contender for the region. What more can you ask for?
