If you can honestly predict "that no other 9th region team will ever be able to do, win back to back state championships", please send me next weeks winning lottery numbers while you are at it. That's an elementary statement because no one really knows the future ability of schools to come. Holmes will be a great team this year, but they won't be the only one. Their athletic ability can be matched or countered by some good coaching and a string of luck such as a made last second second lay up instead of a missed one. Anything can happen, that's why we have a tip off to let the coaches and kids decide who wins. I look forward to a good year of everyone giving Holmes their best shot and if they can't beat them, at least they will make them better so they can represent the 9th again with another state title.

Boone is no way near the teams of the past. Boone's defense s too young and soft to stop Ryle versatile offense. The Raiders should win this one, it's just a matter of what Boone decides to do offensively to try to keep it close.

Correct, the younger Geisler was on the bench, but did not dress for that game.

Unfortunately, Alford has been inconsistent even when Boone called the pass play. He can be a good throwing QB, but his talent has only been shown in his running ability since the Lafayete game. It's obvious that any QB, WR or TE that wants to excel in a passing scheme is at the wrong program if they attend Boone. Running backs will probably always be the dominant horse there. For instance, Spaulding and Lokesak could been have two of the top receivers in NKY last year with a passing offense. Last year Alford finished with less than 500 yds passing, definately the lowest in the district, and this year it may be even less. He'll never get into a passing rhythm without gametime repetitions.

That's called playing a much better team. When you have 11 on 11 and some key players from one side just can't muster the intensity to get going and pull his team above, then the team may look flat. IMO...an opposing team can't make you play flat.......they can kick your butt all over the field, and that's just being a better team. This is a very opinionated question, and it seems like only the coach can say if his team was flat or they just got out-played.

I agree with you here. Anyone that has seen Boone play this year can see that they were in place to make plays against teams like Scott County, Anderson, Highlands and Conner (minus the quick hitch pass), but they simply didn't make the play. There's no reason Bradley would not do the same damage if they continue to miss tackles like before. With better tackling, Boone could easily have a slightly better record this year. Even the games they won, they still had a large number of missed tackles. So, Boone can key on Bradley all they want, but if they don't hit low and wrap up, he'll still run them over.

IMO........flat is just a description of how your team is playing. Over the years I have seen teams from youth to pro's that come out one particular week and just don't play with high intensity for that specific game. That's when the description of playing flat is used properly whether the team wins or faces defeat. If a good respectable coach or fan knows that his or her team just got their butts kicked by a better team they will admit it.

Boone just flat out stunk up the field Friday night:puke: The same issue of trying to tackle around the shoulder pads, not making simple defensive adjustments to stop a simple quick hitch pass that Conner used ALL night to move the ball. They have at least three guys in Fookes, Oppenheimer, and T. Brown that could help out on that defense. Boone is having a very down year, and it's simply because they aren't using the personnel to it's max. They did show promise in using Quainoo, and Oppenheimer to mix up the carries, but they also have the tight that had 75 yards with 4 catches against a decent Lafayette team earlier this year. They need to find ways to get the ball to him also. Young or not, they need to do something different about that defense or Cooper's running back is going to punish them all night coming Friday.

Not trying to be rude here, but if you don't know the specifics of things, you should be careful of what you say. We all know how the divisions are divided, so the sarcasm is null. and Cooper simply did not get to start out with a large number of Varsity level football talented male students.

If anyone thinks that Cooper is on the same level as any of the Northern Ky 6A schools, then they must not understand the student body that Cooper started with for their first year. They didn't have the luxury of a private school to be able to allow certain student athletes to enroll regardless of location. So, football talent wise, I believe the Varsity team is on the same level as some of the schools that the Old guy mentioned. Just because you receive a 6A title, doesn't mean your going to be able to field a 6A caliper team to begin with immediately.

His rushing numbers are where they are because of his running style. Don't take away from good efforts because of the schedules they are playing. If that's the case Ryle's backs should have had some gaudy numbers against Cooper. If he ran for over 100 yards in the first half, what does that say for Ryle's defense? Had he not been injured early in the 3rd quarter, I am sure he could have added more to that number because he is a no quit kind of kid. I am proud of Cooper for hanging in there for the time they did. Each year is going to get better and better for them and they will win some district games in the near future. Bradley leads all Northern Kentucky backs (including the Ryle Group) in yards as of today, and it's a well deserved accomplishment by him and the offensive line regardless of who they are playing. Cooper doesn't have the complete talent, size, speed, and experience as the other 6A teams, which is why what they have done so far is legitimately a great job. Kids ignore the nay-sayers and continue to do a great job!:thumb:

Maybe they just need some new fans:banana: I really don't understand the reason for picking out certain post to rebut the reason they would like to see lights at Cov Cath:cry: It's an opinion that we all have, and it's probably the same opinion as 90% of the U.S. Those that don't want to have the lights can continue rattling on about their traditional reasons, values and beliefs, while the others join the norm on enjoying "Friday Night Under The Lights". I am beginning to think that the Cov Cath light opposing faithful is simply jeolous of those that have the privelege of this Friday Night feeling in your "Home'" stadium. This post has come to a point of little Bobby having to justify why he's still riding the old Huffy and all the other kids having nice Cannondale's (For the old folks, that's an upscale style bicycle). So, no more to say here, I'll just get ready for some Good Ole American Traditional Friday Night High School Football. :dancingpa

I just think they should allow the team/students to experience a "Home Game" on Friday night! I have seen the CCH fans, and I bet the stadium would rock twice as hard.

Thanks for backing some real reasons they should play on Friday night. Some people refuse to remove the blinders because of "Trradition", I have another word for it.........

It's simply more energy on Friday nights. The student body is more excited, because the weekend has arrived, less students having to miss the game because of weekend jobs, and families that have younger kids in youth football, and weekend fall baseball would not have to decide or split ways to be with both athletes. There's several pro's and cons of playing on Saturday, but the real tradition is "Friday Night Lights".

I guess safety is not a priority there! Would the traditional folks prefer Cov Cath go back to the grass field and leather single bar helmets? If you have never met a Cov Cath football alum out there who would've preferred Friday nights, it's possibly because they never got to experience it. The Cov Cath players should at least have the option. You are right, there is no right or wrong in this, because Cov cath will have lights whenever they decide to do so, and I am sure they will get only the best.

Tradition! What tradition? It's called evolution. The high school kids at CCH that are not able to go and play college football, will never get to experience a "TRUE HOME GAME" under the lights on Friday night; there's nothing better! Every iron heart young football player knows that true traditional high school football occurs on Friday night. Playing on Saturday interferes with the youth programs, possible college visits, and it takes away that extra recovery day for the players. Maybe they should have put the lights in with the grotto project. Get some lights and let the boys enjoy the true traditional high school football experience while they can. That's my free opinion. After watching Boone play Anderson and then watching Boone play Highlands, I honestly don't think HHS can keep up with St.X. AC is only 1 guy, and even without him Highlands was not able to score at will, although they did score fairly easy on the pass plays. From what I saw, the Highlands defense can be picked apart by a precise offense that works the entire field. It's a great opportunity for the Birds to do something good, but even with all the "If" statements, it's going to take a perfect game by the birds to keep this close. Size, speed, and talent depth will be in favor of the Bombers. Homer or not, deep down you have to honestly see this as a long shot for the Birds, but at least they are taking the shot.

You can't really brag about beating a 2nd year 6A team. But if you must go ahead. If these two teams play again next year, I don't see it being close, or does Lloyd have a majority of Juniors and sophomores also?
