oldjarhead Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Wow!!!! What happened??? You beat me to it. What happen???? Did Ryle move all their good players up like Cooper. :sssh: Sorry, I had to get that in for all the Ryle fans. But please someone fill us in.
jcenters Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 It was a great game . Boone D played great ! Boone O had a hard time passing the ball ,but there running game was on. I think Boone wins if they dont turn the ball over 2 times . Ryle better hope they can step it up if they play CCH in the playoffs! There running game was not up to par today at all.
hockentucky Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Key play (IMO) in this one was Ryle fumbling Bone punt in 1st quarter deep in their own territory. It seemed to give Boone an emotional lift that carried with them almost the entire game, especially since Boone scored on the short field and then made a 2-pt conversion. It took Ryle the entire game to turn the tables. Boone played a very physical game and performed well and took it to the very end. Ryle scored just before the half to tie it up 8 - 8. Boone's biggest mistake may have been going for a 4th and 10 near midfield with about 2-minutes to play (which failed) and gave Ryle a shortened field to position themselves for a Mead 28 yard FG with very little time left on the clock.

The Mead kid kicks very well ! Has he made any longer fg's this year?
hockentucky Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Mead made a wind-aided 41 yard FG to tie the game against CovCath earlier this year. That one was a momentum swinger, and ironically happened after 3 consecutive PAT failures. Ryle then went on to win when prior to the kick it looked questionable. Kicking at the Freshman level is always an adventure because you need a lot more than a guy that can kick, but in this case the previous experience paid off big time.
hja1224 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 This game certainly surprised me. I saw Boone earlier this year and they didn't look near as good as they did today. Pulice had been reportedly running wild all year and I would be surprised if he had 10 yards. Boone's D was hitting them in the backfield all day. In the fourth Ryle put two blocking backs in the backfield with Pulice and they still couldn't run the ball. Does Boone not trust any kid to punt the ball? You are tied in the fourth and you have fourth down on your side of the field twice and you go for it. Diaw ran very well today. Did Ryle just have a bad day or were there some players out with the flu? Ryle certainly didn't look like the best freshman team in NKY today. If they have to play Cov Cath or HHS in the playoffs they will have to perform better than what I saw today.

LoveTheGame33 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Looks like with all questions about what happened with Ryle, no one wants to credit Boone and the coaches for being a good team and playing a good game today:idunno:

Their D did a bang up job and #7, Diaw, ran like a Jaguar.
JBSmash Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Everyone has to remember that when Boone plays Ryle, Ryle plays Conner, Cooner plays Boone, etc, all records and previous games go out the window. When Boone County teams play against one another it is an all out war. Boone County played great today and got early momentum from a bobbled punt return. If that play does not happen, it could have been a different game. All credit to Boone for playing great defense against Ryle's running game. In the end Ryle did what it had to do to win. Jake Ashley hit Tanner Pulice with a key 4th and 13 pass and Meade hit a clutch 34 yarder. Just win baby.
taytan2489 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Couldn't agree more. Boone's D was ready for what was coming - I think that's a credit to the Boone coaches and the emotion of the rivalry. The Boone coaches looked to have their team very well prepared on Defense. Ryle's D was equally impressive, though. Without the muff'd punt, Boone had virtually nothing. If teams are going to begin putting that many kids in the box to stop Pulice and Co., Ryle has enough athletes that they should be able to make the adjustment. Yes - converting 4th and 13 in the final minute was sweet and an example of what I'm talking about - split Pulice out and throw him a pass. Now, next week, get Osbourne the ball - run a wildcat formation - do something different. But overall, congrats to both teams for a great game. And congrats to the Ryle Raiders on continuing that undefeated season. Better get better, boys.
oldjarhead Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Who are you dissing here, Ryle or Cooper?:idunno: I guess I was poking at the Cooper people who earlier in the week were talking about "all the freshmen getting moved up" and it turned out to be ***1*** player.

Thanks hockentucky. Maybe you should do play by play. I couldn't make to this one. Sounds like I missed a good one. I still can't beleave the score. :thumb:
