This Juniors who will be seniors next year have just not been very talented over there years in high school. They had a very poor freshman team a few years ago, in 2008 Central had a lot of Seniors on the team and they graduated and this years class was stepping in. Most people knew this would be a down year for Central. Whatever my 2 cents are worth I would agree Kenny Turner would be the favorite. There are some Richmond people with administrative power at Bryan Station.

Its not so much they wanted to hire Bert Browne, they can hire who ever they feel is the best candidate. But to go out of the way to get rid of the other main candidates so the hiring committee can only see 4 or 5 guys they will never hire to make it easier for Bert Browne is sad.

No Hensley has not, but in two years I dont think you forget the game and Doug Carter got an interview, what has he been doing? Hines did lose to those teams this year and also beat Perry Central, and Bert Browne will be the next coach.

When David Hensley was in 3A they beat Madison Southern every year they scrimmaged and he went 28-8 and Southern could not sniff those numbers. David went to Dunbar his first year was 10-3 District Runnber Up and Regional Runnber up and won another playoff game his last year. He won at least one playoff game 5 of his 6 years as a head coach and beat Madison Central twice in 3 years when he was at Dunbar and look at Dunbar now and the first of the two victories was on the Lexington UPN Live. Johnny Hines has turned Pulaski County from a joke to a power in his tenure. He won the regional championship last year beating out Bert Browne in the first round of the playoffs. He has also been to the regional final in 2003 and lost to Boyle County in the middle of their title runs and a had a very close loss to Boyle that season in the regular season. I want to say this, I am not saying these two should be given the job, but these two applied and are not given interviews and look at who is getting interviews. No one and I mean NO ONE can make me believe that Madison Central's staff is not trying to get rid of the big names so when they interview in front of the site base they will have lesser competition for the good ole boys to beat.

Well one of the coaches they are not interviewing knocked the favorite for the job out of the playoffs and the other beat Madison Central 2 out of his 3 years he coached against them. I'm not saying these two deserve the job, but to say they are not to be interviewed because they are a threat to the good ole boys is a joke.

Well lets go through the list here. Rowan County Coach, Head Coach with no shot of getting the job is the reason he is getting interviewed. Doug Carter, they want him to help be an assitant when one of two gets the job. OC at Georgetown College, just a favor because Bill Cronin wanted him to get an interview and he has name value still in Richmond. Griffith and Browne are your true two finalists, WOW. The hidden candidate to make the possible 6th would have to be none other than Big World. He has the two things you need to be a head coach at Madison Central or at least have a shot with an iterview. He is from Richmond, and he rides a bike all day long, so he has an athletic background.

I dont mind if Bert Browne gets the job but to make sure two of your main applicants won't be interviewed because they would be a threat to Bert Browne is a joke. If he is the best and he gets it thats fine, but knock out the top candidates before the interviews because we want our buddy to get the job is awful.

Its not anymore, Bert Browne will be the next coach at Madison Central unless Tommy Floyd does something to change it. Madison Central does their usual junk hiring technique. A couple of GREAT coaches who applied will not even get an interview because they would be a threat to Bert Browne so a few far less qualified coaches will be getting interviews to make the hire of Bert Browne look better.

Don Miller was one, who was a former D Coordinator at Dunbar and head coach at Western Hills. Two things must happen before Dunbar can keep a coach. 1. Stu Silberman must leave as Superintendent. 2. Anthony Ore must leave as Principal. If these two things happen you will see Dunbar turn around. And it will still take some time. Silberman redistricted Lexinton a few years ago which took a lot of kids from Dunbar to Bryan Station when Stations enrollement was dropping. This is a big reason you have seen the climb from Station over the past few years.

I'll just say this Mike Holcomb applied last time for Madison Central coming off the year where he won the state title with Haddox and he did not get the job. Its kinda a Richmond joke that he was not chosen.

Well there are only two possibilities that can happen from here. 1. 99.99999% chance we are doing all of this one more time in two years from now. Because some parent won't like why his little Timmy isn't playing and he goes and get all of the other bench warming parents to sit down and have a meeting with Silberman about all of the evil that is taking place at Dunbar. Stu is so worried that these evils "these parents" are mentioning could be picked up by The Lexington Herald Leader he orders little Anthony Ore to "come up with a solution to the situation" with his mean voice. Mr. Ore is so scared to death of Silberman that he must let the coach go. And we do this all over again. 2. .00001% chance is this coach makes it all the way through the 2012 season which is almost unheard of at Dunbar and this unbelievable event is so shocking to the universe we are killed off because news like this has to be the reason the Mayans said we would all die in 2012.

Richmond has been known to not go after the best coaches from time to time and instead going after the guy they know or who is a nice person. I'm not saying this will happen or not. But there is another wrinkle in this job. Superintendent Tommy Floyd's son is on the team. And from what I know Floyd has coached before and knows a good amount about the game. I think he will play a role before its all said and done on who the new head coach is.

Thought I would add a point. A lot of people think Bert Browne will be the next football coach at Madison Central. I'm not saying thats right or wrong or a good fit or not. But if this is true and my educated guess is it is, I find it interesting that so many people know this and Madison Central has not even started interviewing for the job yet. And most of the reports I have seen are coming from people in the Perry area that think Bert Browne will be the next coach. How do they know this already? :sssh:

Yesterday was the deadline for applications. I wonder if Central is going after the best coach or just the good guy approach?

Please make sure we add Stu Silberman to this list. Has anyone noticed the obvious decline in Dunbar since he has taken over in Lexington? If you really know the Lexington area and especially Dunbar FCPS/Stu Silberman has been the biggest reason of why Dunbar is what it is now. Biggest school in the state of Kentucky that hardly no one wants to coach at.

I think it only has to do with population of a school so teams like Highlands and Boyle would not be in it. Its the highest population of class 6A would make it and I think it would be awful. I guess everyone would get a bye in the first round of the playoffs since there are not enough teams to make a first round of the playoffs. Who knows how they would district this. I guess 4 teams of 4 if they are even close to one another in the state.

Madison Central has never won a region title in the school's history.

I don't think it has hit the media yet. Friday is when it happend though. The football team was called into the Library to be told the news.

You are correct, Dunbar is open, again.

He and his family is in my prayers. If there is any family that can beat this it is the Rains family. He is a great coach and a better person. Good luck to LCA the rest of the way as well, I have a feeling it will be a special season there this year.

Rumor around Richmond is there may be a Roy Kidd Bowl being played there on an annual basis for a couple of high school games in the near future.

Unless they both back out one of them will be the new head coach. Ray is the interesting one cause he is retired is he going to try and get a 100 day contract or is he going to go back into teaching. My gut says he wants a 100day contract but if Ledford leaves from teaching and I expect him to do so but thats an educated guess then Franklin County has to hire another teacher and put Ray on a 100 day contract which I dont think that will sit good with the Super. since the school district has ZERO money right now. I'm not trying to be negative to Franklin County I think its a pretty good job but to pretend that its up there with the other three I have mentioned is dreaming. I coached on the East Jessamine teams of 03 and 04 which beat Franklin County and I know Ammons very well and most of the coaching staff Donnie, Ledford, Ammons dad and some others over the time. They were up and coming then and are better now. East at the time was in a similar position to what Franklin is now I dont think Franklin is quite that good East beat Bell County, and Covington Catholic and Oldham County when they had Bramblett Franklin County has not had a signature win to put them into that nature of the top teams. I remember in 04 when Harrison and Ray came down to the last play on a two point conversion at Catholic to win the game but they didn't get it and ended up 3rd in the district with no playoff wins. I know the feeling very well of being close to beating Lexington Catholic but close gets you no where. I saw someone mentioned earlier how Franklin had to beat Highlands then and its different now. Thats true sort of but the only reason they were playing Highlands is because they were 4th in the district they also lost to Lexington Cathloic, East Jessmamine, and Harrison County so they could have avoided that problem by winning more regular season games. Even the year they almost beat Catholic in the Playoffs they were 3rd in the district they had to beat East Jessamine which I was no longer apart of not that it mattered but I didnt see that games with Franklin County on those years. I see Franklin County going 7-3 maybe 8-2 for the next couple of years winning the district maybe both beating East or West Jessamine then hosting Lexington Catholic and getting beat. Now if Boyle gets redistricted in the next few years "which I think that is a possibile becasue I dont know if the KHSAA wants the 4A championship game every year in the final four with Bell vs. Boyle when you could put Boyle with Marions district" I think Franklin will have a good shot at getting to a regional championship game then they would get beat. Overall its an ok job with some good players not enough to win a title or really even get that close but the headaches from the school will bring it down huge.

Well we can agree to disagree on who knows what more and I have coached against Franklin County in these years on several occassions and won on several occasions. I have facts on my side Franklin County since the "system" was put in place by Donnie lost to Lexington Catholic in 03,04,05,twice and in 06 with ZERO WINS OVER CATHOLIC and beaten by Boyle in 08 by over 30 points. 4 head coaches since the 2002 season counting the new one coming in. Always a sign of a stable program Two playoff victories over Bourbon County and East Jessamine. And now they are good enough to compete with Lexington Catholic who they cant ever beat even on their "good years" Boyle County who has 5 state championships and no Chuck Smith is not there but most of the staff other than him and Pardue are still there and they are running the same offense and defense and Hester is pretty good at what he does as well. And lets not forget they are freaking loaded with talent. And good lord if Franklin County thinks they can stay with in 30 of Bell County for the next two years geeze you would find out the hard way. I'm sure Dudley's son would love to see mesh crossing across the middle of the field, or maybe even shallow, or maybe a jail break screen :clap: And not to mention if Ray gets the job and they have to put in a brand new offensive system. He has never been a system coach, he has been the d coordinator with Rains who runs the system but does not deal with much of the offense at all. Chris would be the smart hire and they should pick him but I dont know if they will or not.

And trust me I have a pretty good idea why Ledford and Donnie quit I assure you I know more about it than you do. And I agree the games will be played on the field and their is some talent in Franklin County not enough to win against those three in my opinion and recent history says what I am saying. Its a job that looks pretty good when you drive by and when get inside you may start to think again a lot like Dunbar in Lexington. You can win some games but not enough to win a title and the headaches you will deal outside of football will be enough to make you leave in 2-3 years like a couple of other coaches have. I know Donnie left to work with Tony Franklin and everyone will say that was the reason but if he wanted out of coaching so bad and just wanted to go around helping teams with the system why was he interested in the Tates Creek job when Mike Harmon got it???:idunno:

Well yea I've done my research. The ole dreaded pole cat which Dusty Bonner drew up basically in the sand came out in the second half of that game and let Catholic back in and won the football game. My point being your best team in recent years still lost to Catholic TWICE that year and that would be the 2 seed in the other district from last season behind Boyle who also lost to Bell. Boyle is reloading with a lot of their talent back with their runingback, best dlineman, and absolute stud at linebacker all return. So you wont be beating Boyle any time soon. And Bell's Junior class could be the best class the school has ever seen. Good luck beating Lexington Catholic, Boyle and Bell all in a row. It wont happen. Franklin County doesnt have enough money to give all of their students books right now how much do you really think they are worried about football?:laugh: Donnie Walker and Dennis Ledford are good football coaches and they only stayed a few years a piece. They may hire Ray Grahm or Chris Tracy. Chris would be the smart hire but Ray has a lot of pull in the town with him being related to the Mayor and buddies with the Principal. I dont see either one of them staying around more than 4 seasons at the most.
