Great win for Coach Noble and Buckhorn. Hazard IMO after watching them play several games in the last two weeks have seemed to have lost the team chemistry they had earlier in the season. Whitaker is as good as point guard in East Ky. but there seems to be some indecision and leadership problems at times with Whitaker and Back about whom should be the leader out on the floor. Both are good players and I am sure Coach Al Holland will have his team ready for Tournament time.

The factor I am looking for in deciding the winner of this 14th region All A is which team has the deeper bench that will stepup and play. The schedule for this tourn. is the semis. to be played Sat. at Midday with the finals Sat. night. IMO should of had a better schedule worked out. This is a tourn. setup for smaller schools that a lot of times do not have a full roster nor a lot of experienced older players. Buckhorn and Hazard in the finals and on a neutral court it is hard to pick a winner is my prediction.

Good win for Tates Creek. Showed why they are ranked in the top 10, coming from behind, making a 3rd gtr. run to take the lead, hang on in OT for the win. The Tates Creek zone and their quickness gave Knott Co. problems. If Knott Co. can put together a complete 32 mins. of the effort they gave in this game, they will win alot of these big games. Also Knott Co. was playing without Mikey Slone , a 6'5" junior forward, that did not make the trip. Slone's size and ability to play inside as well as on the perimeter could have been a big heip against the zone. Congrats. to Knott Co. on a great effort.

Did Kendale Reed for Clay Co. play in this game?

Does anyone know if the Games at the Joe B. Hall Classic at Montgomery Co. will be carried on T.V. or on the Web. Would like to watch the Kcc vs Tates Creek Game.

I see no khsaa issue with this. My hope is that He or She takes this as a life lesson, being a parent first, student second and player third.

Here in the Mts. of East Ky. some of the Teams I have witnessed bringing their players to games in private vehicles should as SUV's or other 4-wheel drive vehicles. I hope they ARE CONSIDERING THE liability issue in the event of a accident. IMO this is a complete different situation applying to each region about bad weather events. I seen someone mention something about running buses for pratice. Where did that school system come up with the funds to pay for that?

If the weather allows, will be some great Basketball Games at Knott Co. Central tonight,1/8,10, with Shelby Valley v.s. Clay Co. at 7:00. Clay Co. will give SV a good game even without two great players in JV Hooker & Kendale Reed. 2nd Game at 8:45, Knott Co. Central v.s. Hazard . Games will be carried live on WYMT-TV live and on the web. Weather might be cold outside but the temperature warms up inside the Morton Combs Gym.

Another side to that is a situation where a player disregards what his coach is telling him and spends more time looking at the parent/relatives in the stands when the player should be communicating with his teams mates and looking to his coaches. Distractions in the stands is something a coach has to learn to handle or it will hinder their ability to control their team.

Some of the fans attending the game told me that a louisville station was caring the games. Any info would be appreciated.

Kcc came from being down 10 points at halftime to win by 14. Very physical game. Cox for KCC sat out most of the first half with 2 early fouls but came out in the 3rd to score 10 straight points to spark a KCC come back finishing with 19. Hazard's inside game gave KCC a lot of problems. KCC must blockout and do a better job on the boards if they expect to advance in the KOB tourny where they play Fairdale Fri. at 7:30. KCC dominated this game from the tip. JBS could not handle the pressure of kcc's D. Stepp for JBS had a tough game shooting 1/14 (not official) from the field. Congrats. to kcc's Stamper on becoming the all-time leading scorer at KCC. The Patriots will play Hazard thursday nite and then Tates Creek friday nite(7:00) at Fairdale tourny. Watched most of the game. Scott out played and out hustled Male on both ends of the floor the second half. Scott's bench played well after loosing I know at least two players to foul trouble.

The main thing IMO is to make sure Coach Honeycutt remains there as the Head Coach. He will continue to develop this players to play at their highest level and will settle for nothing less. Also great Coach in teaching fundamentals to young players that a lot of High School coaches do not put enough time into these days. Good luck Lions.

Reported on Hazard WYMT 6:00 news cast that Knott Co. Central had hired Dave Fraley as the Head Coach. Coach Fraley comes into a very talented program that the fans have great expectations for. Any info on Coach Fraley's past records and his style of play? Also who might he be looking at for his assistants to help him at KCC. A lot of parents are involved with the program does he like for that to be in his type of coaching?

Congrats to Coach Hammonds on the hire. IMO he is coming into a program that is in a rebuilding year for 2009-2010. Has a lot of young talent and kids that are athletes. Needs to choose his assistants wisely and have help in working to keep developing the younger kids. LCC this year should finish in the top 10 in the 14th, but next year should be a contender for the 14th region title. Alot of good teams this year in the 14th in Hazard, KCC, PCC, Buckhorn, and Cordia ( some I probably left out). Good luck Cougars.

June Buchanan notified First Year Head Coach Josh Cook that they would not be renewing his coaching contract next year. Reason JBS Admintsration gave was they were going to a Voluntary Head Coach and Staff. This is after Cook took a program that was falling apart and had a great season 18 wins-10 losses. 14 th region runners-up in All "A" tourn. losing to Hazard. Good luck to Josh Cook IMO will have a opportunity after his record to coach again in the near fiture.

Congrats to Coach Hatcher and the Dores on a great win . It still amazes me how Coach Hatcher takes these 5 players and 1 sub from the bench and compete at this intense level for the whole regulation game and thru 1 ot. Great job. Knott Co. has had a good season and with the returning players will make another run next year.

A good road win for JBS in the second round All "A" tourn. at Jackson City. JBS was lead by Brent Hall with his second double-double of this week 17 pts./20 rebs. Garrison Collins 14 pts./ 8 rebs./4 blocks. John Howard 12 pts./ 7 assists. Clint Stepp 12 pts./4 assists. JBS will play a good Buckhorn team on Friday nite at 8:00 at Breathitt Co. in the semi-final round. Good luck to both teams.

The Hazard vs Perry Central game was not an All "A" game. Perry Central is not an All "A" School. Big win for the Dawgs tho.
