  3. Congrats to all the young men on this list! With all of the talent in the 8th region this year, I am sure there are many others that could have been listed.
  4. I think any of these teams can take it....Just depends on who comes to play that night. I definitely think there will be some upsets, which are always fun. The 8th is full of talent this year. This will be the most exciting regional tournament the 8th has had in years!
  5. Each head coach in the region sends in their list of their vote for the top 12 players in the region in order. The top player gets 12 points, bottom player gets 1 point. The 15 players with the most points make up the All Region Team with the player with the most points being the Player of the Year.
  6. Owen County has 7 or 8 players that can dunk. #22 on the video with the 2 in-game dunks was senior Sawyer Williams. His 8th grade brother, Carson, also had many of the pre-game dunks. (Also-Stone Osborne, Cooper Taylor, Justin Shelton, Collin Trammel, Kyle Smith, and Cody McDaniel). They are a fun team to even watch warm up. Stone Osborne is the player who hit the buzzer beater 3 at the end of the video.
  7. I was recently emailed this video produced by First String Media of a camera above the rim during warmups to capture dunks from a new level. Definitely worth the watch! "We were able to mount a camera behind the goal for the 2/14 game between Owen County and Walton-Verona. Got some great shots while the camera was mounted for warm-ups and the first half. This video is a quick edit of those shots and includes warm-ups, a couple dunks and a halftime buzzer beater." -First String Media http://vimeo.com/36831455
  8. I agree. They are definitely losing some very strong players, but they are returning a lot too. I think the Rebels have a bright future ahead of them! Coach Fowler sure has turned the program around.
  9. This just blows my mind. I am curious how the brothers' teammates are taking it...I can't imagine that this has gone over well with the parents and players, especially to the 2 players who they have replaced. It just seems disrespectful to all of players that have been with the coach this season through the good and the bad. To me, it would lessen the value of any win in post season to with the addition of the 2 extra players at the end of the season. If I were the coach, I think I would allow the 2 boys to attend practices and games to get comfortable with the team and get to know their teammates, but now allow them to suit up until summer open gyms.
  10. Congrats Rebels for going undefeated on their home court this season and achieving 20 wins!
  11. I believe Rowan had 6 points. The region is definitely wide open!!!
  12. Owen County 52, North Oldham 39: Sawyer Williams scored 18 points to lift the host Rebels (18-8) past the visiting Mustangs (17-9). David Leavitch led North Oldham with 18 points.
  13. When they do it every level of sports when the tournament 'host' has made them up for both teams (ie Super Bowl, NCAA Championship, etc)...Not when a team has them made up on their own prior to the tournament and brings them with them.
  14. Congratulations to both teams! However, I find it a little tacky that Walton Verona immediately put on their 'State Champs' shirt out on the court. They also did this at the regional championship.
  15. I ran across Owen County's stats, but couldn't find Walton Verona's. They are as followed: The Rebels were led by tournament MVP Sawyer Williams with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Junior Zach Ripy added 16 points and 2 assists. Senior Stone Osborne finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. 8th Grader Carson Williams added 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Sawyer Williams-MVP, Stone Osborne, Zach Ripy, and Carson Williams were all named to the tournament team.
  16. Has someone had a long night? Might be time to hit the hay.
  17. Owen County's Sawyer Williams scored his 1,000 tonight in the Championship Game of the All A 8th Region Tournament tonight in Trimble County. Congratulations to Sawyer!
  18. Agree. I don't see sitting on the bench a few extra minutes the night before making a bit of difference either way.
  19. Thoughts for the 8th Region All A Championship?
  20. Great win for the Rebels! This was definitely an exciting game.
