I think anyone not named Trinity and Male would fit the role of darkhorse. Now I also feel that Scott Co and Simon Kenton may be good enough to beat either of the fore mentioned if they get a couple of breaks. Anyone outside of those 4 and it would take an act of God IMO.

Congrats on a great season to West Carter. The way the team battled back when it looked like Lawrence was ready to put them away is a huge testimate to the resolve of the kids. You all deserved to be district champs. As for the game, I feel like the better team won. Lawrence got a little conservative with a big lead and let off the gas some but West made some plays and Lawrence got tight. The decision for West to play one on one with the Dalton's was a rough one as they abused the West secondary early in the game. The Dalton's are match up problems for anyone in EKY. Exciting game to watch with both teams making big plays. West's QB is lightening in a bottle and their running back ran extremely hard. One of the Dalton's (not sure which) made a Sports Center type one handed catch then caused everyone in West's secondary to miss on his way to a TD. Great night of football in Olive Hill.

24-6 Lawrence at Half West has put some drives together but having trouble matching up with LC's WRs. They have burned West multiple times.

One of the best things about NEKY Football is the passion that the fans and players have. Of all the teams I have watched this year there have been some very inspired teams (JC vs Ashland; Ashland against Russell) but none were more inspired than Raceland was vs Russell. If the Rams want to beat the Tigers then they will need that type of intensity and passion. I will be pulling for the Rams, but if I were a betting man I am not sure I would bet on them. Paintsville should still have a chip on their shoulder about a chance to end the season of a team that ended theirs a year prior. Either way hope we have a great game. Good luck to both. Ashland should not be considered a dark horse since they have as much talent as anyone, but as they are not listed I would include them when healthy. They can beat anyone in 4A on any given night and I think may have the best 2 players on the field against any 4A team. (I have not seen all 4A teams but have a hard time believing there are any better than Baker (best player in state to me) and O'bryan (spelling?))

While I agree that both teams lost and that South Warren should be the favorite if South Warren sleeps on JC or Ashland either one they will have a repeat of last year. Both teams are more than capable of beating South Warren in a 1 game series.

I can not speak for Shelby Co as I have not seen them but Johnson Centeal and Ashland (both when healthy) are capable of beating South Warren on any given night. Now who would be the favorite that is debatable but South Warren appears to be a very good football team. Ashland and Johnson Central both are also very good football teams. If anyone of those three won state I would not be surprised. If anyone else does I will.

Of course they can. They are an extremely talented football team. Now winning a state championship requires some luck and South Warren is no exception to the rule.

I expect Lawrence to win but their struggles with a below average Fleming Co team make me wonder if the Bulldogs have checked out. I think the Daltons could have a big night as Russell had success throwing on West and nobody as skilled as either of the Daltons. This might be a shootout as I don't know if Lawrence can stop anybody, but I am not sure West can stop Lawrence. If I were betting I would bet on Lawrence by 2 scores, but I wouldn't be shocked if West's QB big plays Lawrence and keeps the Comets in the game or even wins. Good luck to both.

Have not watched Bath play so if it was posted then my account was hacked. I call it like I see it. Russell's play calling has been sketchy at best. Don't believe me look at losses to Fleming and Raceland as proof. West's play calling tonight left a lot to be desired. You get the running clock when you have the opportunity and you shorten the game. The only bad thing that can come from a game like this is an injury for West. Running clock shortens the game and lessens the chance for injury. There was no reason to be throwing the ball. SC had not tackled West in space all night. It was a poor decision. I have coached in the past at the high school level and had success. Won the region as a 3 seed in AAA one year as the defensive cordinator. Not going to claim to be the best coach out there and far from perfect, just don't understand the decisions of some coaches. Football is the one game that coaching decisions can severely alter the game for the better or worse. Coaching football is like playing chess not checkers.

Like how West's coach is up 28 gets ball inside the 10 twice and can't score cause he throws it every time. Can't coach his way out of a paper bag. Won't matter this game but will later.
