Sorry, have to disagree with on that. Good talent will not always win out over bad coaching. Look at Boyle last year compared to this year. What's the difference? Mercer has had a couple of bad coaches in the past that set the program back when the program was in good shape. A good coach is a must regardless of talent level.

You got the freethrow shooting part correct. Taylor has got to improve his freethrow percentage. My guess is that it is around 40% or so. Not good for someone who gets fouled as much as he does. Bad decisions = bad passes, loafing after a bad pass, blaming another player after a bad pass, driving into the lane for a 1 on 3 contested shot at least 5 times in the 2nd half of Tuesday's loss. Not good decisions!

OK, Mercer has a 5'8 power forward. I am interested in seeing his post up moves! BTW, I have been to their last 2 games and have yet to see Nick post up or play the power forward position. Who would he post up or out rebound? The cheerleaders?!?

Hey! Great breakdown! Even though I go to the state tourney every year I did not realize that this region was so top heavy but even at the top. If asked, I would have said that Oldham, Scott and Shelbyville were the cream but I did not realize that it had been this dominate. Good stat!:thumb:

Traditional starting 5 1 = point guard 2 = shooting guard 3 = small forward 4 = power forward 5 = center With Patterson being all of 5'8 or 5'9, him starting at the 4 posistion would put him and Mercer at a great disadvantage. Just doesn't happen.:lol: Better decision making and more hustle is needed in other area's other than the point guard position. I am not going to bash a 17 or 18 year old on here. You need to come and watch them play and you will see for yourself. Actually, I hope that you do come and don't see the problem. This will then mean that the problem has dissapeared.:banana:

Should be a good one. I have not seen Lincoln play this year but I did see E. Jess play on Tuesday. I was impressed by their ball handling, rebounding and shooting. Since it's at Lincoln, I'll take Lincoln in a close one.

What is the all-time record between Mercer and Garrard? I would imagine that Mercer would have a lead in this as well.

Without naming names, the point guard spot is not the problem. McRay and Patterson both do an adequate job of bringing the ball up the court and setting the offense. McCloud has been playing and I don't see any difference in him and the ones playing point.

Mercer Co. vs Harrodsburg Intense! The biggest thing that I had against the merger was the loss of this rivalry. They would play at least twice a year and sometimes 3 to 4 times with the gym being packed for every game. I hated to see this one go.

I would DEMAND that my coach take a rules test before I would hire him. If he didn't know the rules then he sure shouldn't be teaching the game. As a former referee I know that I refereed games with officials that did not know or completely understand the rules.

Taylor COULD be a stud if he really wanted it. He has all the athletic ability in the world but does not seem to want to use it. Right now, he is NAIA material but with a lot of hard work I would not see any reason as to why he could not play lower D1. Not for sure if that will happen, though.:mad:

If Mercer's guard play does not improve then Anderson should have no problem with Mercer. Poor decision making down the stretch last night that IMO cost them the game.

I don't think that this is going to happen. The current high school principal has been at the school in some compacity for 23 years. Now, if they would like to get rid of the assistant principal then that would be fine with me and a lot of other folks. I would think that if Jaggers retires that they would look to bring someone in with a proven track record rather than hiring an assistant with no previous coaching experience. Jaggers will leave BIG shoes to fill, no doubt.

I am really interesting in seeing this matchup. I have yet to see Penny play but I have heard that his game is in the paint. The same goes for Taylor who is a legit 6'5 player who can dominate in the paint. I wonder if Taylor will have the maturity to match Penny?!? Should be a good one!:banana:

Mercer and Anderson have always had a heated rivalry and it's good to see these 2 schools playing each other in basketball. Maybe, next year they can start playing again in football. This Friday night Mercer plays at Anderson. Any thoughts on this game?

I agree. Thankfully, I did not see or hear any of the past drama on Friday night. Coach Cundiff is a demanding coach. This year he has hired a female assistant coach (former Mercer girls head coach Mary Anne Davis) who not only knows what she is doing but I believe that she is sort of playing the "good cop" role to Cundiff's "bad cop". This might just actually work. We'll see.

Believe me, I agree with the baseball part and the coaching part. He was definately screwed in the coaching part and could have played college baseball if he had had his head on straight.

I was also really impressed with Guyn. The Dowell kid is a great outside shooter but Guyn looks like he has a better overall game (at least in this game).

Give me a break! Brian, at QB? Brian, was a top athlete and is one of my very good friends. One question for you to ask him or just ask yourself, why did Donnie Redd get a scholarship to KY and not Brian? Answer: Donnie was faster and a better football player than Brian. Simple as that!
