  1. Isn't his name spelled "Prewitt"? In any case, he had a very strong senior season with Menifee County. Congrats!
  2. Leavitt Morrison of Rowan County has signed with Transylvania University for next fall. Morrison was perhaps best known for receiving a perfect score on the ACT exam, but he's a very athletic 6'6" player who can play both on the perimeter and in the paint. He should make some strong contributions to Transy's program. Congratulations, Leavitt.
  3. Bluegrass Will: Thanks for the image from the game. I admire your work!
  4. The Herald-Leader claims it was a 35 footer! Dang, what a game!
  5. This was a very close and hard-fought game--just like the two previous meetings. Coach Thacker has the Vikings playing their best ball of the year. Congrats.
  6. Four wins in a row for the Vikings. Great job!
  7. For the last couple of years, the EKC has been a "showcase" rather than a tournament. This year, ten teams played five games on 13 December in Lewis County. The results, according to the KHSAA site, were as follows: East Carter 66 Rowan 41 Elliott 109 Lewis 60 Bath 73 Russell 58 West Carter 68 Fleming 63 Morgan 53 Raceland 44
  8. Good win for Raceland. Boyd: Keep your heads up and keep fighting.
  9. When I saw this score last night I was a little surprised, so I waited for the box scores in the morning paper. East was able to limit the scoring of Maze and Metz to 15 and 14 respectively, while they placed three players in double digits: Jackson, Bair, and Barnhill. Good quality win for East Carter.
  10. This is going to be a hard-fought game. The Bath County faithful are loud and rowdy, so I'm going to predict that Bath wins by 8.
  11. Great Senior Night for the Vikings. Rowan dominated in the first half especially. All of the seniors (Duff, Morrison, Sergent, Stafford) scored. Ginter, who is a junior, led the scoring for the Vikings with 17. Morrison had a double double (10pts./12rbs.). The Vikings now have won three in a row.
  12. DANG! Metz was on fire. Congrats.
  13. Congrats Greenup. Boyd: Keep your heads up and keep playing hard.
  14. Morgan keeps rolling along.
  15. Close game. Anybody got any stats? Comments on the game? Good district win for the Menifee Wildcats.
  16. Good win for Ashland. Congrats.
  17. The Vikings were firing on all cylinders tonight. Ginter led the scoring with 20 points. Duff had 15 and Morrison had 11. With just a couple of seconds to go, Morrison got the tip in for the win. Great job against a tough team.
  18. Good win for Rowan. The Vikings have been inconsistent as a team this year, and at times they have looked really bad. But things seem to be coming together somewhat as district tournament time approaches. They split with Menifee (both games were close), and they lost to Bath by 2 in their first meeting. Rowan plays Bath this Friday night in Morehead. This game should be a good test for how far the Vikings have come.
  19. If Morgan can control the pace of the game . . . and if they can keep Maze and Metz from dominating . . . they might keep it close. But I don't see it happening. Bath by 10+.
  20. Closer than I expected. Russell must be improving. Menifee is a solid team this year.
  21. I've seen both teams play fairly recently. I'll go with Menifee by 15 points.
  22. Here is what a couple of players told me: Fleming vs. Bath Menifee vs. Rowan I don't know the dates or other information.
  23. Good win for Morgan. They have put together a nice series of wins in January. They will have trouble with Elliott next week, but maybe their style of play can slow down the boys from Sandy Hook a little bit.
  24. To Tell the Truth is the name of that classic game show. Yes, indeed, your last question might be asked of many teams in the 16th Region right now!
  25. Your comments on Rowan are very appreciated. They have a great coaching staff and some good players, but they are not playing very consistently this season. I could offer a few excuses--Leavitt Morrison (leading scorer for the season) has been sitting out the last few games with a nagging ankle injury; the team is playing four games this week; Nick Duff (second leading scorer) was apparently bothered by muscle cramps last night--but the bottom line is that Rowan needs to play better and more consistently down the stretch. But I don't want to take anything away from Russell's victory. They played hard and got the win. Congrats!
