Any news on how Boyd County is looking? I hear they have a scrimmage this Saturday night. Anyone have updated info?

Even though I have posted the supposed reason for the resignation, I still feel so badly for the kids. I also understand how much coaches sacrifice for their teams and for the schools they coach. This situation just doesn't have a good feel, no matter which side you look at.

I have been recently informed that the backdrop to this move is as followed; Coach McCoy's wife's job was cut in the Spring @ Magoffin. A job was posted recently. She applied for the position that she apparently was qualified for but someone else was hired. Word has it, McCoy was upset and said, "screw it" and left abruptly.

Man, Saturday can't get here quick enough!

Coach McCoy resigns as the HC at Magoffin County to join the coaching staff at Lawrence County. The 2 teams were scheduled to scrimmage tonight but that has been canceled in "interest of both schools" per Lawrence County coach Alan Short. Coach McCoy led the Hornets to their first playoff win and District title in 2014. My question is to the timing of this move........

I realize the KHSAA has to do what's best financially for them as a business but this ball is horrible. I am not lobbying for any certain ball but to date, Wilson has the best product. I do think it is ironic that we live in a day and time when society screams for top of the line products for competition, yet we continue to use a substandard football.

We also have front plates that say Rams to cover the word Ridell and a back plate that says Raceland to cover the word Ridell on the back of the helmet.

I think we can add Ashland/Russell to this list. This game is always interesting and too tough to call. Russell wasn't supposed to go into Ashland and win 2 years ago and Nick Conley ran wild. I look for another Putnam classic.

Good practice today. Saturday can't get here fast enough. Glad to get some new meat to beat on.

Team camp is finally over. Meet the Rams tomorrow night at 7. Then we can prepare for an opponent.

Tonight is the final night of team camp. So far, I am impressed with the work ethic and the intensity. Need to keep the reps going and we get to hit someone else in a little over a week. P.S This is the first year in the 11 years I've been here that not 1 person quit during team camp. Generally, we lose 1, maybe 2. So, I'm not sure if that's a good thing yet.....

Well, team camp begins this evening and full pads begin tomorrow. We will know more about our guys come Wednesday evening.

I think the hype of last year's team and riding the coat tails of the previous 2 years and the shock of being 0-3 versus District opponents has laid the ground work to the offseason workouts and early season practices. I am not going to make a prediction but I will tell you that this team appears focused to avenge last year's embarrassing 7-5 record and second round playoff exit.

I can't wait to see Austin Terry, LB #54 play. I like his intensity and speed to the ball.

Yes, the grid games scheduled for Russell are now at Raceland. Raceland game is now the last scheduled game; I am not sure who scheduled @ 5pm.

I haven't seen Paris in person or on film so I have no idea how they match up with Paintsville. All I know is the game last Friday probably woke Paintsville up and they should play their A game.
