  1. How much time is a teacher supposed to give up after school is out? How much time do other professionals give up on their free time to go to their workplace and volunteer for extra duties? But that is a different topic altogether. Anyway... is it more important to find someone fast or more important to take your time and find the right coach?
  2. This may be Pol. In. Corr., but is this the older gentlemen or his son?
  3. That is exactly why study is the key and not just simple reading it like a newspaper. If you study the process by which the bible was put together you may be shocked to find out the high standards that multiple councils used when putting the collection together. The reason the gospels of Peter and Thomas as well as other early church letters were not included is because the church council, I forget the actual name, found them to be faulty or not 100% convincing that it was divinely inspired. There is a great book called "How We Go Our Bible" It is amazing material for study.
  4. 1. I look at Mark who says that "All scripture is God breathed" and I look at II Peter that says no prophecy came from man's interpretation because the holy spirit carried the man along as he was writing (paraphrase, that is why I didn't use quotation marks). Of course, I cannot be successful using the Bible in my argument if I am arguing with people who which the bible carries no weight with them. 2. There has to be an objective truth. My faith demands of me to tell others about the truth, even if it calls for rebuking. I do not always do it well, some times I am too strong and that is my fault. But I can't say "you live your life and I'll live mine and everything will be okay" because my life demands that I share the truth. I just need to learn how to do it better.
  5. I don't like long responses so I am going to quickly respond. Christians believe that the OT is was fulfilled because Jesus fulfilled that Law and created a new which began at the Resurrection but explained thoroughly when he gave the "Sermon on the Mount" in the beginning of Matthew. He would say "You have heard it was said 'Do Not Murder' but I tell you....." This pattern is followed when he speak of adultery, divorce, oaths, tithing and so on. In Acts when Peter was being racist against some gentiles Jesus through a vision told him that now he should no longer call anything unclean that God has made clean. Jesus also said that circumcision is not longer a requirement. The reason the OT laws were so strict was because God needed the Jews to be different from the rest of the world. So the rules had to be perfect and the punishment harsh. The Bible does not contradict itself at all. The reason people claim that is does is because some verses appear to be contradictory. but if you study language, context, and circumstances you can see that it fits like a perfect puzzle. It is difficult to study and interpret the Bible because it takes a skill that must be learned. You cannot teach yourself. That is why it is important for the church to do a better job teaching these skills. I have written more than I intended to.
  6. Is it better to open it up for applications or go out and get who you want?
  7. I hope people realize that some of us base our personal philosophies and beliefs on our religious beliefs. Some do not, but those that do are merely being consistent across the board. Because I believe the Bible is true and what the Bible says is accurate today, then I also must believe ...............yada yad yada. If I did not believe yada yada yaday, then I would be contradicting myself.
  8. I liked Coach Kinmon and I don't think he ruined the program. But lets call a spade a spade. The four seasons prior to his last were all losing seasons with pretty lopsided records. He quit coaching at Christmas of 2009 and the team had another poor record that year. The poor record probably would have been the same record had Kinmon continued on as coach for that whole year. I'm not saying Ron was a bad coach, but the reasoning given in the previous few posts are kind of weak when looking at the bigger picture. And yes if you go back further and look at the biggest picture you will find that he did have success and even came close once to going to Rupp.
  9. Very narrow fairway. You can't hook or slice or your ball is lost. You can't even adjust to you slice because the tress six feet to the left will steal the ball. The greens are fast as lightning. The cart path is falling apart. Yo have to rde your cart across multiple roads and streets to get to different holes. On the sixth hole I was approaching the tee box and noticed three young Latin Americans sun tanning in the tee box. (Sorry if that was racist)
  10. Do we realize that as of now, it has never been shown? Thee has never been any proof or evidence that homosexuality begins at fetal development.
  11. B-Ball-Fan, I'm not trying to be a jerk but we had this discussion a few months a ago and you made me promise (hyperbole) to drop the subject and not get your goat going again. You and I are on opposite sides of the universe on this topic and believe it or not I kind of like you anyway (in a friendly manly sort of way:D).
  12. I think it has something to do with the fact that society is trying to claim that homosexuality is not a sin at all. No one claims to be born greedy, a glutton, ignoring the poor, divorced, judgmental, or a gossip. Christians go after homosexuality because the world seems to be rationalizing it. If it was not homosexuality, but stealing that the world claimed to be natural and innocent, youmay see stealing as enemy #1.
  13. Would this mean that the parents are gay too? Where did the gene come from that caused this natural lifestyle?
  14. What about the person who chooses to do drugs? Or the person that chooses to molest their children? Are they not choosing to do something that has catastrophic consequences? People make unhealthy choices everyday. I choose to not take care of my weight. I am a good thirty LBS too heavy. I should eat less and exercise more, but at this moment I choose to sit at Starbucks and sip a Latte instead. Was I born with this unhealthy decision or am I choosing something bad?
  15. Along these lines, what would the new coach have to do in order to be considered successful? What does a successful basketball season at Beechwood look like?
  16. Just for the record, that is a sarcastic eye-roll and not a smile of agreement
  17. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike Devou Park Golf Course?
  18. I think this one, NDA, and Holmes are the only openings. Is this correct?
  19. I've known him for several years but have never been real close to him. His grandparents attended church where my father preached, so I saw him semi-regularly. He is only in his mid to late twenties, but is a good person who will treat the kids right. Its good to see local dayton boys grow up and be successful. Generally speaking they get beat down (not literally) a lot.
  20. Is that a compliment? Lol, just joking. Congrats Coach Listerman and the Bluebirds. I wonder if Hicks or Menefee will want to be assistants under the new coach.
