The true result of this game for BW will be one of gaining more experience and depth. Coach Rash is taking a very young team and has expertly seasoned them. BW, a1A school, will have faced two 6A, three 5A, and a 2A school before they even hit district play. Inexperienced BW is not inexperienced for long. BW has rarely had its first teams on the field at any given time. When they have, they look good. The amount of players getting time on the field is staggering by BW ironman football standards. Should be a very close game, the seconds are still slated to get a lot of playing time for BW. When Coach Rash decides to put the throttle down the score could roll up quickly. I would not be surprised if the BW JV teams, playing the traditional 3rd and 4th quarters of games, don’t roll over some teams starters in 1A play.

Highlands 414 boys 9-12th grades. Beechwood 196 boys 9-12th grades. How about Highlands only dresses the same amount of boys BW has on the sideline... What kind of a fight is 2 on 1.... even it out. OR just eat your CAKE.

BW will be just fine this year. A whole lot of fight in this dog or (Tiger). Most definitely the most athletic group I have seen on the BW field. Every year they end up playing THE LARGER SCHOOLS like LCA, HAZARD, FRANKFORT and the list goes on for the top billing. This year will be no different.

Good for them. If they want to be the best they will have to beat the best. Nothing like trial by fire. Work hard, and never,never quit.....

The ball came out clearly. It was a turnover. Sad thing was he could have walked in two steps two the. Playing the what if game. If BW 44 was even close to being healthy, which he was not, he scores easily either way. 44 hats off to you, one tuff dude.

Truth about the officiating is because of several bad KHSAA rules there are alot of highly qualified refs sitting at home this weekend. The KHSAA DOES NOT use the best officials for the championship games. The final games are divided among the regions, each region supplies a number of officials. But, the fact that the best official in one region of the state is often less capable than the 20th best from a different region is not considered. Also, officials are only allowed to work one championship game every five years. There just are not that many top officials in the state.

It seems that a firestorm was created by a post regarding the officiating of the game. I would like to clarify my original post if I may. It was not in response to fouls being called or not being called, personal fouls happen….. And are even sometimes penalized by the crew working the game. The game is not for the weak, toughen up or get out. The penalties all carry reasonable enforcements, its part of the game. If little Johnny took a cheap shot, the game allows pay back within the stretchable rules. I have seen more than one player crying his way off the field because he was completely dominated. My thought at the time of the first post was about the lack of knowledge of the crew, poor spotting and making calls when out of position. The KHSAA needs to work harder to raise the quality of the officiating. No one is happy when the game is reduced to its lowest level. Please remember the crew was getting paid to do a job. There is always somebody willing to work harder to keep their job. We owe it to the kids to give them the best playing environment we can.

The worst officiating I have seen at any level of football. The officiating was an embarrassment for football in the state of Kentucky. I am truly disappointed that the KHSAA would allow such a high level game to be officiated in such a way…

Regarding the Beechwood – Ludlow game, it is obvious to any fan with even the slightest knowledge of football that despite the valiant efforts of the Ludlow athletes they where on the field with a team that has paid the price to be in the position they are in. Success is like anything worthwhile. It has a price. You have to pay the price to win and you have to pay the price to get to the point where success is possible. Most important, you must pay the price to stay there .The hard work of the Beechwood athletes, especially the offensive and defensive lines, was evident. Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every player must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile. The spirit, the will to win and the will to excel-these are the things that endure and these are the qualities that are so much more important than any of the events that happened on the field Friday night. If you are questioning the inward motivation of a man, I will tell you the key. It is much like looking at a fruit tree, does it bare fruit and what kind of fruit does it bare. Coach Rash needs no one to defend him. People who know him, respect him. We in the Beechwood family are thankful that Coach Rash cares passionately about the success of our children!

Stop crying, if the Beechwood staff wanted to run the score, (1) they would not have had the JV team play the second half and (2) put the freshman team on the field when the JV team was about to score. In the future if you think the game is over early sub in your underclassman, until you do, game on !!!! Remember the Beechwood staff called off the dogs by substituting first and resting starters early.

I just hope the Frankfort fans dont shower the kids with beer like they did against Beechwood last year. Nice... A little crowd control please...

The lack of consistent play at the quarterback position continues to undermine the Tiger efforts. At this point in the season one would only hope the Beechwood coaching staff would realize the strengths and weaknesses of the team. To continue to ask an athlete to do something he is incapable of doing is poor coaching. IMO the offense needs to be tailored to the strengths of the athletes. The Beechwood line, offense and defense, once again was the strength of the team. A well coached group of kids playing at a high level. The goal line stand showed a determination that could well take them the distance

You have to believe the three. He did leave the field on a cart, but was not helped in any way to the locker room. He was not limping or favoring any part of his body. He left the game to be retaped, not uncommon, and played as consistent as in the past weeks until the JV team was inserted. He played hard on both sides of the ball, till the end. He is an EXCEPTIONAL athlete and YOUNG, he will be fine. We all remember what its like, tape, Advil.... and oh ya,ICE. With all this being said, I would still rest the starters against NCC, being a meaningless game. The first two playoff games should be easy wins, and still give them (#44) plenty of time to get in the groove. :walk:

Lets hope Bvue and BW meet again. With the LINE of BW he ,#44, should get his yards. I hope he runs hard and uses his God given talents to the best of his ability. He could really help set the pace by taking the tacklers head on punishing them early. Lets hope its not the exact same result, and he gets through the game healthy. It was the trainers cart taking him off the field at the end of the game....

I don’t need to watch game film Willy. He is an exceptional athlete. Read the post. There is no way you can call him an exceptional running back. He repeatedly turns his back on contact trying to spin free. IMO an exceptional back would decelerate under control, change direction and accelerate creating distance between him and the tackler. Again I will repeat myself in case you missed it. HE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL ATLETE. Avoiding aggressive contact early in the game is not what I would call exceptional. Also read the thread again he plays linebacker as well, it has to take its toll. Look at # 35 on BW as you watch the game film you will see a much more balanced runner, low, better cuts and keeping his face towards the goal. IMO # 44 has given up on the play when he spins trying to lessen the blow. He is not trying to gain yards by spinning, just lessen the blow. He is a special 1A back, and I believe he would be a better back given better training. Also playing at a larger school would allow him to focus on running. 4.6 speed with power is good, not exceptional…

All the talk about the running backs is really misguided. The backs performance is a reflection of the line in front of him. A blind squirrel on morphine could run behind BWs line. Yes # 44 is a talented kid, but he really isn’t an exceptional back. He is an exceptional athlete. Just be thankful he plays linebacker as well. I would say any back would be successful behind the line of BW. If Buckler transferred to BW he would really run up the yards. By the way, the line of BW has a 3.8 average GPA. Do you understand the benefits of having kids that are easily taught and can retain information working as a team? Anyone trying to build a program needs to start in the classroom.

I am definitely not saying the young men on other teams are not working hard now. I said the body of work. The human body is a reflection of everything that the person has done in the past. Being bigger, faster, and stronger with the ability to execute movement on a football field is not characteristics children are born with. If the Beechwood kids posses these attributes and other teams do not, then they have done something in the past that the other kids have not done. The only exceptions are the small amount of people born with exceptional ability. As for Beechwood being an exceptional team at this point I would have to say they have their strengths and weaknesses. Their strengths win games; their weaknesses have not cost them games to this point. Beechwood players could be far better athletes, with a few exceptions. The training techniques of young athletes have been dramatically changed in the past few years. No longer is it believed by qualified trainers that you need to run an athlete into the ground to maximize conditioning. It is more about accelerating, decelerating, changing direction and of course energy regeneration as it applies to any given sport. Remember coaches, for the most part, are NOT qualified to trainers. Ask yourself when does an athlete run a straight line on any given play? The successful training of the young athlete today, and in the future, will not only help them on the football field, but will help them prepare for the tasks they will face in the future. It is no longer a hit or miss proposition when it come to improving an individuals performance. Training programs that are not based on cutting edge methodology and supported by scientific literature are simply outdated. The successful coaches of the future will have a commitment to become better trainers of the human body. Beechwood is moving “slowly” in this direction. You really can not be saying they ran up the score in the first half? If thats the case, and the other teams feel like they are out of the game, sub in your underclassmen. It is always BW to sub first. How fair is it to leave your seniors in the game. They are at times two or three years older than the kids playing in the second half for BW. Why does BW have to put in the JV team so you can feel good about not getting thrown under the bus. All your tears about BW running up the score is old, truth be told BW isn't really all that good you just have not put in the body of work the BW kids have. HARD WORK ALWAYS PAYS OFF.

BW by as many as they want. If they are smart they will use this game to work on the the missing elements.

Alot of legal and illegal blocking friday night.. Did anybody notice the Beechwood coaching staff pulling the starters in the Red zone and allowing the Holy Cross team to put 7 on the board. Also, the "blocking" continued on the JV team as they played the remainder of the game. The jv teams meet Saturday. The "blocking" by HC players leaves them in a bad football position, hope the coaching staff remembers what can happen with a lineman falling helplessly on top of another player. The level of sportsmanship is always leveled to the lowest point......

coachg you would be the one in line 14 minutes before the game. Real fans get there early. Ok 14 was just a #, truely the boys are thinking more about #7. See ya at the fence.

There are many reasons to leave the starters in, one being they need the work. BWD subs to keep people healthy and season younger players. It only helps the younger BWD players when other teams dont sub in against them. Leave your best in, it only makes BWD better next year. The post about moving up is a good idea.... but lets limit the number of kids that can dress on the other team to even the field, or better yet just let the JV team play the whole varsity game instead of just a half. Hey thats it move everybody up. Most of the varsity players at BWD are taking AP classes anyway can we get some Div. III schools on the schedule. Never mind, bad idea, our eighth graders cant play varsity sports. the only answer is to abolish football at BWD. I suggest crossword puzzles, no complaining now, if we must we must.:thumb:
