  1. 7 Owensboro 5 Christian 3 Todd 2 Graves 1 Warren Central TB-Owensboro
  2. " Well, first off, I wish I would have seen the post by Dragon Fire who found the schedule. I had to call my source. In his words I quote, "We were undefeated and untied. They cant say that."
  3. Franklin-Simpson(21-0), Owensboro Cath.(32-12), Daviess Co., Murray, Caldwell Co., Henderson Co.(45-0), Sturgis(21-20), Hopkinsville(45-0), Mayfield(7-2), Henderson City(75-0). There were 6 division one players on that team. One went to Geogia Tech and the other 5 went to Kentucky. 5 of the 6 made all state first team.
  4. I have a pretty good source where Madisonville High School claims the "title" in 1956. Supporting details: even though ST X was ranked no. 1 in the LIT rankings, they had a tie that season. Flaget had a loss but were ranked no. 2. Madisonville was 10-0. They were ranked no. 3, but felt overlooked by the ranking system and since they were the only team undefeated and untied they do claim the title.
  5. 7 Union Co. 5 Breck Co. 3 Greenwood 2 Franklin Simpson 1 Meade Co. TB- Union Co.
  6. 7 Franklin-Simpson 5 Hopkins Co. Central 3 Adair Co. 2 Hopkinsville 1 Glasgow TB- Adair Co.
  7. I have a newspaper at home in plastic that has the picture of Elvis Presley lying in the coffin. Wasn't Clinton on the three dollar bill?
  8. Having seen Sparks in several games, I thought he was better than Carrier, easily. But a lot has to do with media attention also. As far as Hopson or Miller, I thought Miller was better because you basically knew what to expect day in day out. Hopson played at a higher level but just on select occasions. As far as the rating in the cj, speaking only about the second region. Hickey, Cates, and Lewis are the top 3 athletes in the region. Christian Co. again will dominate the region but they dont seem to have as deep a talent as they have had over the last couple years. I have not seen them this summer though, and I understand they are doing quite well. Hudson and Basham were in the upcomer section. To me Hudson didnt have a very good season last year. Basham really improved. Seen Henderson (lost region 4 years in a row, I think) will be decent again. But some of that has to do with being in the opposite bracket as Christian Co. They do have Ford Stuen, who is a very good shooter and knows the game. They will not be able to beat Christian though. Madisonville, again will be athletic but not for sure about any outside shooting. They will rely on their press and Basham on the inside.
  9. You have done a tremendous job. Stay in touch.
  10. I watched both games and many fouls were due to the fact, those two teams they were playing were extremely fast. Twice Euton picked up fouls by turning around when got down the floor on defense and the man with the ball was right behind him shooting a layup. When the other team has more speed you tend to foul more if they are taking the ball to the hole. Christian Co. and Ballard attacked the basket against them and they fouled. They won one and lost one. Ballard did not attack the basket as much in the finals, maybe they were tired?
  11. According to this year's Sweet 16 program. The future state tournament dates are: March 16-19 2011 March 14-17 2012 March 6-9 2013 March 19-22 2014 All of these are at Rupp Arena. It would appear that Rupp is hosting an opening round in 2013.
  12. Anyone have his regular season stats? I noticed in the program the final regular season stats leaders and he was not in the top 10. Of course, your school as to turn those in, but I am assuming as good as they were, they would have turned them in. Dont know how it will go in Louisville, but he had a great Sweet 16 tournament.
  13. I would like to know how many blocked shots Ballard had in this game. I felt like that was the main difference in the game. They blocked 3 or 4 shots that Scott Co. would normally make.
  14. Lets not compare playing at the sweet sixteen in rupp arena for a state title in front of 15000 people to an AAU tournament. As you said, the teams going in know what they have to do. So you have to deal with the best you know how. Its been this way for many years and it will not change.
  15. Again I say, Congrats on a very good season. And again congrats on winning a tough regional final. I will agree with what your saying K of Ks. There was not a WOW factor there. As far as how many games, these 3, this week. So you should understand why some are asking how did they do it? I will disagree on one thing, we will always remember this SV team because, I think they are the first team to ever win both the Class A tourney and the State tourney. Sugar Daddy I am not bashing the team, I just felt like some of the other teams up there were better. Even K of Ks states the talent level there was down and possibly as low as he/she has seen in several years. Again, Congrats on winning your region.
  16. Congrats on a very good season, but....... If Christian Co., Scott Co., or Warren Central had been down there in those last teams when it all started, I really believe they would have played SV this morning. I know MC had a very good year, won a very impressive regional final, but I just was not impressed their team. I feel like I did not see the team that beat Clark Co. There were many people in our section and outside in the lobby and even down in the hospitality coaches room that asked, How did they beat them?
  17. The Khsaa has been playing around with football playoffs the last several years. So why not do something with two inconsistencies they have in basketball? One, get rid of the few 3 team districts. If football can be recalculated every 2 or 4 years, they can move teams into other districts. Two, step in and seed all districts. In football, all district teams play each other and are seeded against another district in their class. So why not make all districts seed? They seem to be very active in the state of football but in basketball, they seem to fear a little change.
  18. Opening Round 1 Warren Central 1 Ballard 1 Christian Co. 1 Scott Co. 1 West Jess 1 Paducah Tilghman 1 Mason Co. 1 Knott Central Semis 2. Ballard 2. Scott Co. 2. West Jess 2. Mason Co. Finals 3. Ballard 3. Mason Co. 2010 Champ Ballard tiebreaker 131
  19. Muhlenburg and Paducah are very athletic. Paducah struggles at the FT line and Muhlenburg has a load of talent-but the consolidation factor has caused problems within the team, the school, and the community. I would take Christian over the other 3.
  20. The game stayed 56 to 53 for the last 3 minutes of the game. Henderson had several opportunities but did not score a point down the stretch. Christian Co. hits 2 ft in the last 12 seconds to seal the deal.
  21. The first and last games are the two games "on paper" that should be the best. Madisonville and Hopkinsville played to a 1 point game during the season. Henderson Co. is a real good shooting team but they dont really have an inside game. Livingston is young and is back in the regional tournament. They should go on a run for several years, if they can handle the half court trap of Henderson they could cause problems on the inside defense of Henderson. The second night has the heavily favorite Christian Co. Colonels playing against Hopkins Co. Central. I would like for the Storm to have a good showing, but their inexperience at guard play will be exposed by the pressing defense of Christian. The final game should be very entertaining. Webster Co. has surprised everyone this year in the region. Lyon Co. has a solid team also. Neither one has a lot of depth, but it should be a very close game. The tournament is at Madisonville but I dont think anyone can defeat Christian County.
  22. Wed night: Madisonville vs. Hopkinsville and Henderson vs. Livingston Central Thur night: Christian Co. vs Hopkins Co. Central and Lyon Co. vs Webster Co
