Wow, I don't think they should talk much before they play the Hounds. It could be a long night for Harlan.

The Arena sounds like a great choice. Why not make it easy on the fans traveling to all three games of the tournament(Corbin and South Laurel)

Johnson, Manns, and Wilson return with a lot of big time experience. I think you will see more from these kids this year. Playing with the senior class this year may have shadowed them.

Will Manns be playing TE?

Maybe because he wouldn't be missing out on time with his son if he is on the team. It's quite simple actually.

Wow ... 27 second chance points! I remember thinking to myself that Corbin could not grab a rebound last night. I knew that's what cost them the game but I did not realize how many points Eastern had on second chances.

This is the fun part of the Sweet 16 -- talking about match-ups, possible outcomes, and disagreeing respectfully. Both of these teams have had great seasons and their records prove that fact. I just hope for a competive and close game with both teams laying it all on the line (as they should in the Sweet 16 and playing in Rupp Arena). One team is going to advance and one is going to be heart-broken -- thus, is life. Only one team will end up as state champions and fifteen teams are going to be disappointed. Congratulations to all the teams that won their regions and made it to the Sweet 16. This is an accomplishment in itself. One final note, Go Hounds!

If Corbin wins this game, it may be considered a mild upset. Corbin dominated Lexington Catholic and got up by 16 or so points at one point in the game--they did allow Lexington Catholic to make a run in the fourth quarter and Corbin ended up winning by 3 points.

BTW, three of Corbin players were under the weather -- flu-like virus (not the flu). Fought through adversity and picked up a big win.

I see Corbin and Eastern have two common opponents -- Wayne County and Lexington Christian. The only team Eastern has lost too all year is Jeffersontown (twice).

So, what about Corbin chances against Eastern on Wednesday? Just wondering how many of the top ten teams have lost (I know George Rogers Clark and Scott County are OUT).

No one in the 13th region can play a fast-pace, up-and-down the court game with Corbin. The season itself is a testament to that fact. If Corbin can run up and down the court, they'll outscore and beat South Laurel. If Corbin loses this game tonight, it will be because the pace is slowed down and poor shot selections. Corbin can win a low-scoring affair; however, if the score gets up in the upper-60s/70s, Corbin will be on top. They'll need more than their 62 point-average the past three games.

You make an excellent point in your post -- Corbin needs force the ball in the paint and try to get St. John in foul trouble and tired. Shot selection is going to be so important--as it is in every game; however, Corbin does not need to force the ball to the hole--that extra pass you mentioned is key. I hope Corbin presses and tries to get South to play up-and-down the court. Middlesboro and North Laurel both took their time and played a half court game. South will try to slow it down tonight. Corbin is averaging 62 points the past three games -- this is NOT their style of basketball. I believe in the first game, St. John had around 27 points for SL against Corbin but the other players did not have that great of a game. I say, let St. John have his points and shut down the rest of South's players--SL cannot beat Corbin with St. John alone. There are so many factors to consider ... until SL is defeated, they're still 13th Region Champions. The atmosphere should be great tonight. ALso, I am hoping for a good called game by the officials and hope they let the players decide this game.

I think this game is a toss up -- if you look at each team's complete season, Corbin has been the more dominate team. The teams have played many of the same opponents and Corbin, throughout the season, usually beat those opponents by a larger margain (including beating the Cardinals three out of four); however, if you look at the way the two teams are playing during the region tournament, South appears to be playing with more confidence than the Hounds. I really hope that this group of Corbin seniors get to go to Rupp this year and get the monkey (cardinal) off their back. Everyone will need to step up tonight and play their hearts out. First, congratulations Corbin for winning the 50th District Championship. I am surprised in the manner Corbin won last night--I thought if the game was low-scoring and close, South Laurel would have the advantage. South Laurel played their hearts out defending the Championship and I am sure they'll do the same in the region tournament. The atmosphere was awesome last night--fans on both sides were great and the student sections made the night.

I would be surprised to see Corbin win this game by more than 12 or 13 points. South Laurel has been in this situation time and time again ... and they've came out winners. If the pace is slowed down and the score is low, then South Laurel will probably come out on top (as Hank alluded to). I really hope this game does not come down to free-throws. South hits their free throws (though, they did somewhat struggle against Whitley). I hope the Corbin fans get there early -- it's going to be a packed gym and a great environment, I am sure.

This is a tough one ... I believe Corbin has the more talented team; however, South Laurel is 7-0 in 50th district tournament games and 9-0 in 13th region tournament games. That's impressive. I am sure the Cardinals will be ready from a coaching stand point. Thus, for Corbin to win, I believe they need a comfortable lead going into the fourth quarter (10 to 15 points) ... and even then, I would not feel safe (I am remembering the 13th Region final last year). The Redhounds need to score 65 or more points (when they do, they're undefeated). The Redhounds need to attack early and often offensively.
