Corbin vs. South Laurel (13th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

For the third year in a row, these two teams meet in the title game. Can Corbin overcome their demons of the past two years and finally prove they are the big man on campus or will the mental aspect of things take over again? It should be a great game between two excellent teams with hard working coaching staffs.

Right now, you would have to say that although Corbin is the better team, South probably has the upper hand considering they had an easy game and Corbin was in a battle. More importantly, South was able to scout Corbin yet again tonight considering it was the 2nd game.

Corbin scouted South, too. I saw their assistant coach sitting a couple of rows above South's bench.

I did not see that. I was out in line, and saw Coach P come in with the team. I just assumed the whole team and coaches came at once. It would make sense for at least one coach to be there. It should be a good one. I just hope Dudley decides to turn the air on tomorrow night. I thought I was back in Evarts watching a game for a minute tonight.

I agree. It was HOT, HOT, HOT tonight.

Doesnt SL win this game every year?

It surely seems that way. Hopefully, that trend will change about 8:45 tomorrow night.

This should be a great game. Wish I could attend. I am picking South by 3

South Laurel by 5

I think the fact that Corbin had a real test will do them a great deal of good. I also think that South's St John and Zak Smith played so well against Middlesboro has to give them some confidence. These seniors at South Laurel have grown to expect to play at Rupp every year. I am hoping that South pulls this one off, but Corbin has so many weapons, that I think they pull it off in an overtime thriller and hit their FTs down the stretch.

South Laurel 64-61.

South wins this one. Corbin is worn out physically and South has the "bluff" on Corbin. The only thing that could do South in is their lack of depth.

I think this game is a toss up -- if you look at each team's complete season, Corbin has been the more dominate team. The teams have played many of the same opponents and Corbin, throughout the season, usually beat those opponents by a larger margain (including beating the Cardinals three out of four); however, if you look at the way the two teams are playing during the region tournament, South appears to be playing with more confidence than the Hounds. I really hope that this group of Corbin seniors get to go to Rupp this year and get the monkey (cardinal) off their back. Everyone will need to step up tonight and play their hearts out. Also, Corbin fans need to fill up the gym and be as vocal as possible. These kids play harder with vocal fan support. Go Hounds!
