Middle school ball gets a wide range of officials. Some are good and some are not so good. It's not uncommon to see some of the better (varsity) officials working games in November before the HS season opens just to get in shape and more game ready. As the season progresses, you will see less of these guys because of their HS schedule but some of the guys will work MS on their off nights. That leaves the less experienced guys to handle the majority of the MS season. Good or bad, I think these guys do their best. Sometimes, due to the lack of quality play, these games can be more difficult to officiate than HS games. There's kids jumping, sliding and falling all over the place and the parents are acting like complete idiots. Based on my observations, I don't know why anyone would want to officiate MS ball.

I say, let em go where they want. It's really no big deal.

Why does the 9th Region have a Board that would have to approve any changes? What are their responsibilities and what do they do? Why not leave it up to the elected association officials and the other officials to make decisions? If the Board calls all the shots, the assigner is just a pawn and really has no authority.

Without a doubt. MS parents are the worst, no comparison.

I believe it is 80/20. The coaches give their ratings which are 80% and the assigner has the final 20%. The assigner uses in-season performance evaluations and other criteria (which I don't know) to come up with his 20%. Then the final rating is tabulated.

I do not believe the assigner has the authority to change the rating system. Any changes would have to be made at the KHSAA level.

I never said Trame was fired. Don't know where you came up with that but it wasn't from me. He resigned!!

Coburn did a good job with what he had. I'm sure some girls opted to play volleyball instead of basketball. Players get weeded out from their freshman to senior year for various reasons. Most schools have 10 or so freshmen playing freshmen ball but only a handful sticks with it through their senior year. That's the way it is and St. Henry is no different.

If Brannen is smart, he will bring new blood with him. If Trame was the problem then Sturgeon was part of it. Brannen needs a clean slate with new faces. Also, I find it hard to believe that Sturgeon is on the short list for a number of local head coaching jobs. Just saying.....

And also, no guarantee of playing time!

If indeed they do transfer, I believe there are some other circumstances that led them to that decision and we will probably never know what they are. There must be more to the story because it is going to be a very expensive decision.

If they do transfer, everyone can put to rest that it was because of Trame!!!!

From what I've heard, they aren't going anywhere.

Congrats to Walton and Coach Brannen. It appears they made the right choice and went with an outsider with experience. Hope it works out for all parties. Grant must have been making peanuts at NCC for him to make this move. Smart on his part.

Good choice by both. Walton gets a good coach and Brannen gets financial security. I guess the Moeves boys will stay now.

Not surprising. I didn't think he would stick around after his daughter graduated.
