Granted, when we played Nicholas in the Class A, we had a terrible game with multiple fielding errors and we couldn't put anything together offensively...but Nicholas was really tough...fielding everything, hitting, pitching was pretty good. The last two times I've seen them, they had a few fielding errors(catcher even...and she's a beast), didn't hit well (now in Bourbon's tourney I think they did). We hit their pitcher alot better this time. I don't know if it seemed slower or she struggled with spots, but Coach Bretz switched pitchers this time after a few innings. I understand what you mean about three games in a row. I think about our own Lady Bears with only one primary varsity pitcher. That makes it tough.

What about 10th region losses/games? I thought Brossart was ranked 2nd? hehe----sorry...couldn't stop myself.

Nicholas looked like a totally different team against Mason (I only saw some of the game) and against Bracken than they did in the Class A. Harrison. That's who I think will win the 10th region; however, the slaughter from Bourbon threw me for a loop---never saw that coming. Despite that, I still think Harrison will win it all. Every team in the region is beatable on any given day, so who really knows LOL---nobody is stand-out head and shoulders above the rest spectacular---so it's anybody's to win. Sometimes it's a matter of who wants it more...not who has the most talent.

Lady Bears started the game off with big bats to take a big lead. St. Henry battled back, scoring six but the young Bracken team held on for the win. Very nice road win for the Lady Bears and a real confidence booster going into the post season. They finished the end of their regular season on a strong note with a couple big wins; Lady Bear fans hope they bring the same energy for post season tourney play. On another note: Good luck to everyone else in post season as well. Hope all play hard and have injury free post season play!:thumb:

Final from Brooksville. Seems like a while since I've been able to post a win for my Lady Bears. They've played a tough schedule but came away with a quality win tonight against a very good Lady Jackets team. Lady Bears were in control of this one early, and they looked and played like a team tonight! :banana:

Bracken didn't have a great weekend, coming away with three more losses. I wasn't able to attend Friday night's games when Bracken played Bourbon and Western Hills, but I do know they lost both those and didn't play very well in either game. Saturday, despite losing 3-2 to Greenup Co., Bracken played much better, executed things well but just couldn't pull out the win. The Lady Bears were without three starters on Saturday (catcher and centerfielder were two) and considering that, the team played pretty good. We had some younger girls (didn't think we could get much younger lol)---middle school girls who really stepped up and did a good job too. Brossart lost their three games against Nicholas, Greenup, and Bourbon though I didn't see any of the games they played. I'm sure BGH is furiously typing up his write-up and thoughts on Brossart's games from the tourney, so I don't want to steal his thunder and spoil it for everyone. I think Bourbon won the whole thing.

Actually, Brossart/Bracken Class A semi-final game last year lasted 11 innings too, right?

Bracken has played well at times and struggled at times (evidently last night was one of those times). They are a young team with the oldest girls being only sophomores, so hopefully, things will come together for them...

I thought Schreiber (spelling?) pitched most of the time for ND, but was told she wasn't even there last night. What happened to her? Does she still play, Sham? I know she played earlier in the season b/c she pitched for them in the Uncle Pete tourney.

Conley pitches for Bracken. I was not able to attend this game so I have no idea who pitched for NDA....somebody from NDA like Sham may be able to fill in the blank there.

Well...it is aggravating when hits are given in place of errors. Our pitcher pitched a no-hitter at Brossart this year, yet BGH gave one girl two hits where errors occurred And, I know that to be true because I was watching the game. Unfortunately, you probably weren't there because you were at NDA's game, right? I want to know what my kid's true batting average is...the true average, without a magic pen. Don't you? So, how is it justified to give hits when they aren't earned? That's what's perplexing and a little laughable. Just sayin...

Sometimes, it's about how much girls want to push themselves and work too. Simply working with a pitching coach an hour a week isn't going to cut it either...no matter how brilliant he/she may be.

Bracken's pitchers worked with Chip Gregg for years. He worked with Katelyn Meyer who went on to Thomas More and played for a year. He worked with Sara Sticklen who went out with an ACL injury during basketball season but would've been the best pitcher in the tenth region this season otherwise. He worked with Emma Conley who is only a sophomore with 12 wins under her belt with a pretty hefty schedule. I'm not about to take jabs at Chip on this site like others because he knows his stuff pretty well and worked well with these girls and they've been successful as a result of things he taught them.

Played at Harrison County. The game ended in 6 innings due to time limit. Unfortunately, the Lady Bears were just starting to adjust to pitching speed and had a couple of really good offensive innings when time was called. :( Nice showing for the young Lady Bears. Montgomery is definitely beatable.

Bracken had several good hits---a team effort. Conley threw well, allowing only 3 hits. Extra nice, new facilities!

Harrison is solid all the way around. They have always been a good hitting team and I heard their thirdbaseman hit two out. No disrespect to Brossart, but it wouldn't have mattered who pitched, Shackleford or Reilly,injured or healthy, they wouldn't have beat Harrison. Harrison is better. Harrison may just win the 10th region IMO.

Final. Conley pitched solid game with 9 k's. Cleanup batter Cassidy Jefferson hit the ball well, driving in multiple runs throughout the game. Bracken missing three starters for school trip, so this is a good road win considering some younger girls filled in those spots.
