Mr. Athletics replied to *Jeanie*'s topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think it will be tough but I will take Kyle Bennett's boys in this one. Walton by 3 in OT. -
Does your team travel overnight
Mr. Athletics replied to Hamilton Joe's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Going to overnight tournaments and camps are great ways for teams to "bond" together and develop that chemistry that is needed for a championship team. If you make it to the big dance at the end, then the experience from a holiday tournament could be invaluable. It's tough playing games when you are out of your comfort zone and not sleeping in your own bed. One must be careful in scheduling so that the tournament you play in is at the level that your team can compete and that is difficult to predict. Another factor is the cost and how good you are at fund raising. -
Shelby Co. vs. Anderson Co. ...Jan 4
Mr. Athletics replied to Lunatic1's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
It should be a dandy game. I will have to go with Shelby at home. Both are well coached. This will be a preview of the 29th district championship. -
Front runner in the 8th?
Mr. Athletics replied to theoldcoach's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I have not forgotten Gallatin. I have them in the final four. If they get beyond that point, it would take an upset. -
Gallatin should be a lock in the 8th playing at home. I look for them to bring home the big trophy from Richmond.:thumb:

Gallatin County 84 Newport 68
Mr. Athletics replied to FarBeyondDriven's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would think that this is a goal of every coach. You have to search long and hard to find teams with these qualities in this day and age. The good teams put team results in front of individuals goals. -
No doubt a great coach---with the aid of Toyota.

Glen Drury at Anderson Co. is a pro.

Randy Moss' Daughter Now at Ryle
Mr. Athletics replied to cshs81's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Will Ryle be able to hold onto to these 2 girls? Since they are both 8th graders, they could end up at another school next year and not lose any elgibility. I would be aware of this if I was at Ryle; someone may be talking to them. -
Would you allow Your son to play for BCG?
Mr. Athletics replied to happy ol' dad's topic in College Basketball
Players today have a hard time accepting tough coaching. It would be an honor for my son to play at UK for BCG. I would support him all the way. -
Montgomery Co. 56 E-town 45
Mr. Athletics replied to jahearme's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
I would'nt say state champs, but beating a really good E-town team says a lot! -
Gallatin Steel Tournament Finals
Mr. Athletics replied to cheapseats's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Owen County beat Meade County 39 to 38 in the title game. Owen is playing really well and look as if they will be the team to beat in the 31st district. Congratulations to Owen County. Owen is not in the class a this year because of their enrollment is too high. To qualify for the class a tournament, your enrollment has to be 425 or less students in the top 3 grades. Meade County's Mindy Oliver is the girl who scored her 1000th point. Congratulations to her. Congratulations to the athletic staff at Gallatin for putting on a great tournament. it was very well organized and had some great games. -
Parenting Question?
Mr. Athletics replied to flyin'intheflag's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This is why coaches should be extremely careful in having parents be involved with the team. Not shooting enough? It's not all about scoring. There are other aspects to the game. The coach should not be thinking about individual results but what the team is doing. Quitting sets a poor example for the kids. -
Congratulations to Coach Clark and his Rockets on a great start. Time will tell if they are good enough to win the tough 8th region. I think it will be between Shelby, Oldham and Anderson come March.

Williamstown 58 Gallatin 55 OT
Mr. Athletics replied to CatPride24's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Coach Wilhoit does a great job. His teams ALWAYS play harder than the opponents. I agree that Stith is the leader of his group. Don't count out Gallatin when the "A" tournament rolls around, however. The Lady Wildcats could put together a run. -
Walton Girls BBall: What's the problem?
Mr. Athletics replied to BaldGuy's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
As I stated earlier, many people seem to think it is a coaching problem. That may not be the case. -
Carroll Co. 63 Gallatin Co. 48
Mr. Athletics replied to Lunatic1's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Ashley Jones is a quality player. She must have had a great night to put up those kind of numbers. Gallatin made 8 3 point goal and had a very good shooting night. -
Boyd County Invitational
Mr. Athletics replied to madman's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Anyone have any details? -
Owen Co. 62 Ludlow 51
Mr. Athletics replied to Mr. Athletics's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Owen looks as if they are coming on. They play well together and have good guards and a force in the middle. Ludlow had an 18 point lead at halftime and lost? Wow. Girls' basketball is difficult to predict. -
Carroll Co. 63 Gallatin Co. 48
Mr. Athletics replied to Lunatic1's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Lady Panthers vs. Lady Panthers tonight at the Gallatin Steel tourney. It should be a good one. Ludlow's size against the quickness of Carroll County. -
Boyd County Invitational
Mr. Athletics replied to madman's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
How is Walton Verona doing? I have not seen any of their scores from this tournament. -
I have never seen a "T" called in that situation. You have to assume that it is legitmate injury if you are officiating the game.
