Numbers can be subjective if context is left out. Sweden has only performed 1.7 million tests (9.2% positive to test ratio) where the US has performed over 155 million tests (6.5% positive to test ratio). From that context, the US is doing better than Sweden.

My sources indicate that ICU patients have NOT doubled. In fact they've reduced in number and those being admitted are not as sick as previous cases. I have no idea where you are getting your info, but masks have NOT been proven to reduce risk 6 fold. There has been no definitive study done on mask wearing. No double blind tests. Publix, for example, requires masks, but has no distancing markings anywhere in their stores and haven't had since before the last re-opening adjustment. Speaking of Publix, I had forgotten my mask one time. I turned in the entry to leave and a person parking carts told me to stop. She returned with a box of masks and offered me one. Not sure of the correlation. To this point in time, Tampa/Hillsborough County has had over 34,000 covid cases. Cincinnati/Hamilton County has a little over 10,000. That is over 3 times as many cases. For the correlation to hold true, Tampa/Hillsborough would have to have 3 times as many murders. That's not the case. Tampa/Hillsborough has had about 40 homicides this year. While that is an uptick over the last 10 year average, it's nothing like what is going on up there.

The season is supposed to start on September 4th, but the FHSAA has mandated that a program cannot start their season after September 18th and still be eligible for the state championship. Last Wednesday, the Miami-Dade school board voted unanimously to consider the option to leave the FHSAA and play their season when they see fit, playing for their own championship. It utilizes Wes, a Relay Robot. Its job is to deliver items from the front desk to the guest rooms. I imagine, BayCare is re-purposing it to deliver meds and food. I do not believe Panama City ever implemented a mask ordinance. Then again, the panhandle is more like Georgia, than the rest of Florida. The mask ordinances are still in place in the TBA. I do not like wearing a mask, also Mrs. S still is recovering from pneumonia and is still in isolation, so I avoid going to businesses in person if at all possible. However, when I have, everybody is masked up. I still have to wear one at work when not in my office. I have practically everything delivered to my home or office and do curbside and pickup instead of attempting to dine in at restaurants. Miami-Dade, who put mask restrictions in place almost 2 months ago, has blown up in during that time frame, doubling their case number. As of yesterday they have had over 139,000 cases. The Hillsborough County (Tampa) case rate has decreased since I reported on July 24, though they have added 7000 cases since then. They had 26000 cases on the 24th and have 33,000 as of yesterday.

What is UK doing regarding testing? I know USF is mandating testing for all staff (academic and otherwise), student athletes, and those utilizing on campus housing. However, they are only requiring a questionnaire be filled out and doing random sampling of those students that do not live on campus.

There is not a limit to outdoor seating, is there? Down here, where there are ordinances placing 25% limits on indoor seating, many of the restaurants, that did not already have outdoor seating, have built outdoor seating. As long as social distancing guidelines are obeyed, they can have as many have as many outdoor seats as their physical setup allows. I heard Cigar City turned part of their parking lot into an outdoor seating area. The Tampa Bay Brewing Company location in Oldsmar already had an outdoor seating area, but they expanded it into their parking lot. I curbside pickup from there when I am in the mood for some Shepard's Pie and "Last Days of Summer" or Cigar City's "Maduro".

Mrs. S is doing better with her pneumonia, but must remain isolated for another 6-8 weeks. Many people, not doctors, have been egging her to get tested for Covid-19. So she asked again. The doctor again stated that he did not want her to get tested for Covid-19 saying she does not have any of the symptoms and getting tested was unnecessary. Doing so "just clutters the testing and causes the numbers to be messed up."
