  1. Some other Florida favorites... Cape Coral Mariner Seabreeze High Osceola High Charlotte Largo High Packers
  2. This mask think ain't so bad. I was in BJ's last weekend shopping. All of a sudden a rather attractive young woman ran up to me and flung her arms around me saying, "Jerry. Jerry. It's been so long. How have you been?" When I did not hug back, she asked, "Jerry, what is the matter." I'm not Jerry. 🙂 You cover enough of this face up, it actually looks sexy. That's what I'm thinkin'. 👀
  3. Although not a threat to the US, this one breaks the record as the 29th named storm of the season.
  4. It's an absolutely beautiful day here in the Tampa Bay area after 3 days of bluster and rain.
  5. After talking to health professionals I respect, one an ICU nurse, another the medical director of a physician's group. I will not.
  6. The storm continues to weaken. It must have gotten ahold of that dry air Dennis Philips was taking about.
  7. Now the forecast has completely changed. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 AM EST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Eta was located by an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft and NOAA Doppler weather radars near latitude 24.6 North, longitude 83.4 West. Eta is moving toward the southwest near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this motion with some reduction in forward speed is expected to continue through tonight. Little overall motion is forecast on Tuesday and a slow northward motion is expected on Wednesday. On the forecast track, the center of Eta will continue to move away from the Florida Keys and south Florida today, and will remain over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico tonight through Wednesday. Data from the aircraft and Doppler radars indicate that maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected today and tonight. Some slight strengthening is forecast on Tuesday into Wednesday, followed by gradual weakening thereafter. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure based on reports from the aircraft is 994 mb (29.36 inches).
  8. I've lived down here 40 years and this is the screwiest thing I've ever seen. #2020
  9. I am hoping the high out in the Atlantic combined with the low over the plains veers this sucker west. However, it looks like the my luck has finally run out.

    Hurricane Eta

With the track showing the storm moving back out over warm water later in the week, this bad boy could end up being a threat to the US after all.
  11. By the way, I still wear a mask at work, even though restrictions have lessened. However, I do not go though the hazmat cleansing I did early on in this thing.
  12. My sources indicate that ICU patients have NOT doubled. In fact they've reduced in number and those being admitted are not as sick as previous cases. I have no idea where you are getting your info, but masks have NOT been proven to reduce risk 6 fold. There has been no definitive study done on mask wearing. No double blind tests. Nothing of a scientific nature. If you know of such a study please post a link. I can't find one. Not to a news story, to a study. My FLA numbers show the case to test ratio to be the less than it was in mid-August (now 13.3%). The death to test ratio has increased ... by 0.5% (now 2.1%). Here is the rub. Over a month ago, the state went to phase 3 allowing all bars to open and restaurants to go to the maximum occupancy allowed given distancing restrictions. The numbers were actually higher when that was announce. Florida has never had a state mask law. Though the state tried to preempt local ordinances with the move to phase 3, those ordinances have held up in court, but many municipalities and counties have reduce mask restrictions and fines. School has been back in session since mid-August. Most with full or partial attendance. Football is trucking along, even the pee-wee and midget leagues. I'm going to my grandson's game tomorrow night, as I've done all season. No mask required. Nobody wears them. They take your temp as you enter the facility. That's it. Businesses still have the right to enforce mask policies and distancing policies on their premises. Many still do. However, those that still enforce mask wearing have drastically curtailed the distancing requirements. Publix, for example, requires masks, but has no distancing markings anywhere in their stores and haven't had since before the last re-opening adjustment. The little breakfast spot I go to, which almost did not make it, is booming back to business. They've especially done so in the last month after increasing capacity. Speaking of Publix, I had forgotten my mask one time. I turned in the entry to leave and a person parking carts told me to stop. She returned with a box of masks and offered me one. Love that place. 🙂
  13. Great ending to the trilogy. I love the snarky writing. I am glad Taylor did not end the series with this trilogy.
  14. Just got my new cordless hammer drill in week before last. Getting ready for Irma took out my old one. Went with Dewalt this time. I still need a dolly and a way to hold the plywood in place by myself, but I should be good to go.
  15. Last I heard, 9 had died, but that was when the fires were still ablaze. They were able to get most people to safety. Even those in Trent.
  16. Last Saturday in Arlington, TX USA Today #1 IMG Academy 41 #2 Duncanville, TX 14. I watched the highlights last night. Built up as the game of the year, the contest was men vs boys. It was the closest game IMG has had this year, though. Their other wins.. Venice, FL 49-13. Orlando Edgewater 48-7 Brentwood (TN) Ravenwood 45-14 Chester (VA) Life Christian 52-8 Covid has actually improved IMG with them getting JJ McCarthy from Nazareth Academy in La Grange, IL. Evidently, Nazareth was blocking him from graduating early and Illinois was looking to not play football this fall, so the 5 star Michigan commit transferred to IMG. Long time college assistant, Bobby Acosta took over for Kevin Wright last winter when Wright took the TE assistant job at Indiana. I am not necessarily a fan, but I find the football factory concept interesting. I do not believe the "Blue" or "National" team is eligible for the FHSAA championship, but the "White" or JV team may be.
  17. Both Texas and Oklahoma are 2-2, now.
  18. Eddie's first instrument was the piano. He won a awards for his performances of classical music when he was a kid (Mozart, Bach, Chopin). Oddly enough, he could not read music. Played it all by ear. He did not switch to guitar until in his teens.
